👁 About this video : Time to check out a classic with this 1966 Ford Mustang GT!! This particular model started off as a normal Mustang and one of the owners converted it into a GT! That is a very hard model to find so sometimes you have to create one! This one is done up right with authentic parts and looks very nice! The exterior has a great classic look to it and is definitely much different then the modern Ford Mustang's today! I love the chrome accents, they were popular back then and still look good today. The wheels and suspension have been upgraded and this drives very nice of course with modern shocks! It has a sweet sound to it coming from that V8 and there were so many options available for this car back in the 60's! From different engines to transmissions, the GT was fully loaded and the king of the muscle car world! This model also has some modern features like AC to make it more daily driver friendly, but aside from that, taking it back to 1966 with this classic, sure makes you appreciate how far technology has come, and also what started it all!

Idk why, but I just like the old model cars then the ones today.
It makes you appreciate the older ones for sure! Gives me a new perspective on the classics!
Than*
Because they were hand made of metal not robot made of plastic tupperware.
Safety features and regulations that didn’t exist (or were very uncommon) back then allowed manufacturers to basically draw up whatever design they wanted on paper and throw a motor into it, that’s why. They didn’t have to worry about how fuel efficient their cars were or how safe they were. Modern cars cannot make these wild designs as they need to worry about aerodynamics, safety, and cost. They don’t draw cars on paper anymore but use computers to calculate the most aerodynamic, safe, and consumer friendly design which is why old heads say that all cars look the same nowadays (but they always did throughout car history lol). I agree though these cars are works of art on wheels.
Ur not alone bud
I really love modern supercars but classic cars like this will have place in my heart!
They are way different then the new cars. Really fun checking out what the old school cars have to offer
This year of the mustang is the best model of mustang, ever
I remember back when I was in my late teens, how I always wished I had this car! Glad to see you add antique cars to the channel but be careful with the handle rolling down the windows because I used to see those break back in the day.
I could see that! I'm not use to those and it took some getting use to!
Literally my dream car
Cool! Fun classic car to check out!
It is certainly unique to experience a 50 year old car. I bought a 66 Mustang for my son when he was 16 (not in the same class as that one) and he loved it. Ours is a 289 with the 3 speed but no a/c, manual brakes and manual steering. You need to drive one like that !! The Mustang is an amazing car, given its total evolution. The Cruise-a-Matic three speed is not an overdrive, just a basic automatic transmission. You put it on the green dot and go.... I believe that the National Mustang museum is in Charlotte - might be a good destination for a future video.
I wasn't expecting this one to have so much modern features, but it drives very nice with all of those comforts! I'm sure without power steering it would be way different! I haven't heard of that museum but might look it up to see!
Ive got a '66 302 here in England. Literally amazing to drive!
Very cool! It was neat to drive and check out for sure!
My brother just passed away days ago but his mustang identical to this is still sitting in the garage. It hasn't been on the road in many years but we started it up a couple years ago.All original black K-GT.
Oh wow! Sorry for your loss. I'm sure thats hard to go through!
Any plans for the car?
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Thank you. I guess I will be selling it because my finances aren't too good. That way it can see the road again.
I really enjoyed your video. I’m 66 years old and own a 1966 Mustang GT convertible. It’s fun to hear a much younger perspective of my type of car. I think my 18 year old grandaughter (who loves cars) nailed it when she said, “Grandad, it would be like you doing a drive review of a Model T Ford”.
haha very true! Cool checking out these older cars! Hers a Mach One we did! th-cam.com/video/gALfVBenqeE/w-d-xo.html
your test driver was getting a real appreciation for driving a classic. enjoyed that. I think he's a fan now.
It's definitely a cool vehicle to drive and I can appreciate it, but it's not something I would want to drive again. Definitely cool once though!
for what reason wouldn't you want ?@@BrosFOURRSpeed
@@DennisBonich personally would never own an old vehicle like this. I have an R8 and that’s my car of choice.
So strange hearing someone talk about a 66 Mustang and how it's so antique like it's a Model T and surprisingly driveable even with manual windows lol. Graduated high school in 99 and in my senor year I got a 66 Mustang coupe with a 289 V8 as my first car. Drove that thing everywhere, back and forth to college, to work etc. Love that car and it never has let me down. Still have it to this day. Learned how to rebuild the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension. I don't see it as good for its time or something that needs to be babied or driven gently. It's a very capable car. I love your enthusiasm though you seem to have a great deal of respect and excitement for the classics.
Thanks for sharing! For my generation, it’s an old car and one that I didn’t grow up around or near so it’s an “antique” to me. But definitely cool to check it out and see how cars were back in the day!
I just bought a factory original 1966 Mustang GT coupe. I'm going to have a blast cruising around in it.
Very cool, congrats! It's a nice vintage car for sure!
Even that car looks old it’s still a good working car and it’s a race car
This was a very nice example of a Mustang GT! So cool to drive!
A $20K Mustang back then is a good deal
I know right! Crazy to see what you could get for that kind of money!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed $20K back then for a Mustang GT is Corolla money now, so very good deal back then
Oh yeah for sure! My parents had Mustangs like this and thought it was cool I got to drive what they use to!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed does it take you back to the ones they had
@@mileslynch I never got to see the ones they had!
I love this Classic car the beautiful of this car is still cool even its old!
I would agree! Very cool to see what cars use to be like!
Fast forward to 2021 and the 5.0L Coyote V8 now develops 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque.
Oh yeah! The evolution and development of the Mustang has come along way!
What a beautiful looking Mustang
I would agree!! It's nice to see where they started to where they are now!
This model is beautiful
Yeah it was cool to check out!
I have two years till I can drive but for the past year I’ve wanted a 60s Ford Mustang
Very cool! They are definitely interesting to drive compared to modern vehicles, but very cool to drive and check out!
The 66 GT was unusual in that the exhausts exited through the lower valance , rather than from below.... always liked those, so put them on my 67 coupe.
Thanks for the info this is probably the most informative casual information I have ever seen
Glad it was helpful and you enjoyed it! We upload every single day if you want to see more reviews! It was neat to check out a classic!
Nice to see some appreciation for the classics, you don't see that a lot on TH-cam, hope you guys do more!
Glad you enjoyed the content! We have some more we can film so hopefully we can do a few more!
This helps me out so much my dream car is a 68 or 66 and learning more ab it and controls on inside helps alot
Glad you found this review to be helpful! It's a pretty cool car! One of the first classics I've been in and it's a different experience!
Beautiful car! 40k is most definitely on the higher side of what one of these should be going for. It is a classic, but you can most definitely restore one of these on your own (if you’re willing to put the work in), and have a Mustang making 400-600hp depending on your budget. Regardless it is way cheaper to restore one of these on your own $40,000 is insane for 225hp.
GT 350 selling right now in OKC for $16,000 in beautiful condition. It’s a 4 cylinder, but $3,000-$4,000 and you have yourself a V8 under the hood.
I love you two talking with each other. Really kind en listening to each other, no one really takes the lead.
Awesome car too!!😍 Love Mustang♥️
Glad you enjoyed it! Trying a different style to the driving portion! But definitely a cool mustang to check out!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Absolutely!!💪
@@BrosFOURRSpeed There I am again...🤣 Wanted to add something.
I’m planning to buy one of these Mustangs. Definitely a Mustang, but new or old? A new one is more practical by its modernization, but older ones have something special: character. They’re iconic.
I want that.
But there’s one problem: I’m afraid I won’t be able to afford it. The costs of fuel (and maintenance/repair?) are high.
Could you maybe do me a favor? Please advise😇
Wow another classic one thanks for the old vibes I love your content
Glad you liked the Mustang! Thanks for the support!!
40k is an msrp for a fastback. Coupes go for 28k tops for an a code 4 speed here in LA
Oh wow! I don't have much info on the pricing and why it was at this price, but a cool Mustang to check out!
Yes…this is a 25k car tops…not a real GT even though someone added the GT options.
Bad a$$! Great video! My brother still has the same restored 1965 mustang gt our grandfather bought new back in '65. we both took our driver's test in it back in '88 & '89 & last year my nephew took his driver's test in it.
Very cool! Sounds like a special car for you! I'd never get rid of that!
My 65 gt has a 4 speed and a front bench seat. Front bench seat is rare so may add value, but I prefer bucket seats. Just installed a holley efi sniper fuel injection system. That was a bitch trouble shooting the issues the sniper system gave us. Got that dialed in now and now we have a cooling issue. Cooling system worked amazingly well before the sniper. Runs amazing until it overheats now. Can't wait to get this going. Beautiful fun car.
oh wow. Sounds like a project for sure. Sounds cool!
that car is really nice for being a classic I like it
Yeah this was a beautiful car!
I had an actual GT, not that add on conversion. The exhaust tips projected as “flame throwers”. Nice interior - not like mine. I had the “4 on the floor “. The really hot one has the High Performance 289” which had about 270 hp. Mine was a white fastback.
Oh that's pretty cool! Very interesting to check out an old car
60s had the best cars
These were super cool back in the day for sure. Loved checking it out
I'm 14 and I really really love this car! I was just wondering can you daily drive this mustang 🧍🏽♀️?!?
With the upgrades this model has, makes it much for friendly to drive often. Not sure about a daily, but definitely comfortable enough to drive a lot!
I daily one at 22. Lots of work but very possible!
I daily drive mine! Cj pony parts has a TH-cam channel and they post videos replacing anything that could break! I have a 1966 with a 302, 3speed Manuel. These are super simple cars but it would honestly be best to buy a little toyota to daily while you build one of these :)

How much exaust fumes is supposed to come out ? I let mine idol there's definitely some exaust
I’ve never measured exhaust fumes coming out but as long as it’s not smoking or anything odd, it should be fine.
I've seen one in the philippines they sell it for around 100k usd idk if its overprice or just fair price.
Oh wow! That seems steep in price too! I'm not an expert on the classic car market, but I've seen them going for around these prices!
Had a 66 and it had a real backseat for adults. Funny Ford cant seem to do that for the modern Mustangs.
Well they are more sporty now and the regulations might be different for that. The Challenger has larger backseats but is much bigger than a mustang, so it's not as big for that.

I’m from Costa Rica and the price is $20k although I could offer less but I don’t know how much.
That doesn't seem too bad. But keep in mind a good point job isn't cheap. So that could be at least $5k+

Only $20,000 in today's money?! Wtf? Why have car prices jumped up so much since the '60s?
Inflation has caused everything to go up, not just cars!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed - But that's the thing. It's $20,000 in today's money. That takes inflation into account. It makes sense now why teenagers were able to buy cars like the Mustang GT back in the '60s. I can only guess that cars are so much more expensive today because of all the technology that goes into crumple zones and micro processors.
@@Philmoscowitz A ton goes into it for sure! This had no tech compared to todays standards with safety and features along with navigation and all that! Bug differences!
Pretty sure those seats are vinyl
I'm pretty sure they were leather! This car had a full build done on it, so I don't think they would cheap out with vinyl seats.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed yeah maybe the seats were custom made out of leather because the stock pony seats are vinyl i think.
@@dakat0450 Oh ok I gotcha, yea these weren’t original so maybe that’s how the originals were.
This car is over priced. I've been restoring classic mustangs since my highschool years and I own a few different years. Cars like this sell in the teens. Maybe $15,000. It's a Mish mash of parts and styles. The pony seats don't have actual pony doors or pony instrument bezel. The C code to A code doesn't add $20,000. You can build this yourself for less than $10,000. I'm sorry. I love classic Mustangs but this over priced stuff needs to stop. Building and daily driving your own classic mustangs is in my opinion fairly cheap and achievable by anyone that wants to put in some time in their highschool days. Owning and driving my own 1966 mustang as my first vehicle in highschool was an amazing experience. Anyone can buy and build this car. Just do it. You won't be disappointed just don't pay anywhere near this much for one.
That's cool you have been working on classics for awhile! Saying anyone can build this isn't all that accurate, while I'm a car guy and love working on cars, there are people out there who want it now and don't have the time or want to build a car. I'm not saying this is overpriced or underpriced, but some people just want to drive around in something already done. It was a cool mustang though, first time in a classic!
and there is zero leather in the car. completely agree that this is tops a 18,000 car depending on where you live.
Its very difficult to find one at net sales price below $20k, unless it needs floor pans, or paint and body. You can find one that requires restoration for $10 to $12k, but by the time you gather parts, and paint the car, you're way over $20k. Seems its best to spend a few thousand more and get a nicer one. I just paid $17,250 for a decent A code that's solid with a fairly recent base coat, clear coat paint job. Between a daily driver and concours. They are hard to find. For less than $20k. There are a few, but buyer beware.
The title is misleading. One can not "convert a C-code to a GT" -- it's still a C-code, just with a different engine, carb, decals, fog lights, etc.
PS: I own a C-code 66 coupe. I am considering adding *some* of GT options for aesthetic reasons but I would never call my car a GT.
That's what I was told it was so I went with it and I'm pretty sure it can be converted over as long as it's done correctly.
Poor mustang needs a good buff!
Yeah these old cars could always use modern detail
Ac? Did you just say that it has AC??
Yes this model had that added to make it more comfortable to drive!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed love this even more now and the way you toured throughout everything about this car was really helpful. Didn't find any other video as helpful as yours

Lol! I’m so used to reviewing new cars!
0-60 in 10 seconds? Wtf? That's weak for a V8! Are you sure you have your stats right?
Keep in mind that technology and performance has come a long way since 1966! 10 seconds back then was considered fast, and obviously no where near modern vehicles today.
this mustang is actually a 1968. You can tell by looking at the two lights closest to the mustang logo in the front. The 1966 doesn’t have these lights
If you do a simple search for "1966 Ford Mustang GT", you'll find the pictures even showing them with those lights you are talking about..
They were a special order and yes they were available on 66

@@KAZUYA-ITA10 It's all good! But yea we were all good!!
Hacked as it is, I wouldn't pay more than 10k for it. Folks that don't know what they are doing should not get into these cars. It would take another 10-15k to make it right.
Seems like everything was in working condition and in great shape to me. This was professionally done at a reputable shop as well.
You obviously aren't keeping tabs on current prices. Even a C code GT tribute is going to cost $20k today if it has been restored nicely.
I agree with your statement it's a very hacked up car it has Deluxe Pony interior seats with standard door panels. It has a 8000 RPM rally pack which was only on a k code even though it appears to be aftermarket. Either way it's worth more than $10,000 but it is very cringy to watch two guys talk about a vehicle they know very little about he said the GT was the Mack Daddy version in 66 like there was no 66 gt350 or 66 k code the GT was referred to as a styling package it didn't affect the performance in 66 he even went as far as to say it has upgraded GT suspension no such thing in 1966 the GT was strictly a styling package
re up this without the dweeb.
What?
you little sissys like that Alpha dog shyte huh. sit down toddler.@@BrosFOURRSpeed
This is not a real GT if it was coded c engine. It's a gt replica
Just going off what the owner knew about his car. Not a replica.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed While the car’s exterior can certainly give you clues on whether or not it’s authentic, you’ll want to check the GT’s mechanical components and undercarriage just to be sure.
If the vehicle features its original engine, it will most likely be a 289 cu in (4.7 L) small block V8 with a four-barrel carburetor, as this was the standard option for the GT equipment package.
Perhaps one of the best ways to ensure the car’s authenticity is its A code or K code within its VIN. The A or K code should be the 5th digit within the VIN.
Further, the car’s undercarriage will feature a dual exhaust hanger bracket and reinforcement to accommodate the exhaust components.
The classic GT should also feature a sway bar with a 13/16” diameter. The suspension includes heavy-duty shock absorbers as well as rigid front coils and rear springs. Its stopping power will be disc brakes with the brake line residing left of the exhaust bracket, and it will feature a large single master cylinder.
So it's a GT hack job, worth less than it would be if it was original
It was restored to look like an original GT yes, but they did a great job with it. It's hard to tell..
There is too much BS to point out on this one. $40k can get you 3 or 4 of these.
Can you be more specific? Did I have wrong information? Just doing a review on a cool classic..
@@BrosFOURRSpeed You did a fantastic job on the video, don't get me wrong, you are a great salesman, but you are not familiar with the heritage of this car and the details are as follows: 1. You introduce the car as a GT when it would have made more sense to represent it as a tribute up front in the video. 2. You say that it has an MSRP around $40,000. when in actuality, it is worth much less because of the lack of originality and lack of historical documentation. 3. An A-code engine, even if real, much less fake, should not be represented as a High Performance 289 as is/was displayed on the air cleaner. 4. I see under-ride traction bars welded to the rear unibody frame sections, indicating that this car may have been raced at one time in its life. 5. I see water coming out of the exhaust and an aftermarket aluminum radiator which could be a sign of overheating problems / cracked head(s) causing coolant consumption (very common with these engines). 6. You didn't emphasize that the A/C that was installed is aftermarket and not original. 7. The Pony interior is not complete without the correct door panels and courtesy lights in the doors. 8. The Pony seats that were added are not leather and never were from the factory. 9. The 8000 rpm aftermarket Scott Drake Rally Pac is not correct for an A-Code Mustang. 10. The instrument panel and glove box door are not correct for a GT. The GT had a slightly different design for those items. 11. The dash was hacked for the aftermarket radio. 12. Spare tire is not mounted in the correct location. 13. "Put it in overdrive?" c'mon man... The cruise-o-matic back then either used 1-2-3 or 2-3 depending on the dot position you have the shifter in, but never only 1-2, and a c4 never had overdrive. 14. The odometer on these cars only have 5 digits for the miles. The white digit is tenths. How can you possibly say that it is about to turn 400,000 when there are only 5 digits for the miles? The car is clean. but not worth 40. If millenials are paying that kind of money for those, then I can get $150k for my _real_ 65 GT K-Code Pony Fastback. But not so in reality... Thanks
If you can find a decent C code even as a GT tribute for $10k, buy them all.
That interior is NOT leather, lol
Umm, yes it was lol!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed based on what info is it leather???
@@hughestodd Based on the build sheet and what materials were used, like leather for the seats..
matching numbers are worth more wheelchair larry
been blessed to have the chance to take my girl out in a 67’ mustang, a little scared bc I’ve never driven a car w/o power steering. Trying to get an idea of how they drive:)
It's such a different feeling compared to modern cars! I wouldn't want to drive it far, but it's a fun experience!
