One of the best cars ever made. The 1969 is my favorite, and I intend to own a 69 Mach 1 some day. They're going up in value, especially the special editions, and they're a great purchase.
It's amazing how much the looks changed from the 64' to the 65' Mustang. While I like all Mustangs from 64' up through 73',I definately like some of the Mustangs much more than others. The 65' Mustangs are ones I like really well. You found a really nice classic there,Scotty. 🇺🇸💕❤
I don't understand that. The Mustangs that went on sale in the spring of '64 were called '65s. When the fastback was added in the fall of '64 it was called a '65 1/2.
That's a beautiful car, the '65 and '66 Mustang GT Fastbacks are my favorite bodystyle of any and all auto manufacturers...I'll own one some day soon I hope....
@@Dirtilike1 the 65 and 66 shared the same style as did the 67 and 68. Then again it was redesigned for 69 and 70. Each generation has its fans, and each is quite distinct. I'd have to go with the 65 or 66 fastback as well. An absolute timeless design. Much like the 63-67 Corvette. Two cars that just get better looking with time
My mother's first new car was a '66 289 coupe. The dealership gave you a small orange replica Mustang with your purchase. It was one of my toys. I still have it.
In my experience the 3 speed automatic has some questionable reliability. Id love to throw it away for a 5 speed manual but cant do it til I save up for it.
It’s a pretty easy swap, using a hydraulic clutch kit lot better then adapting the z-bar. I prefer using a T-5 out of a four cylinder Mustang, fifth gear is non-overdrive and it’s a close ratio box. Long as the horsepower is pretty much stock they hold up just fine behind a V8. Just have to use a four cylinder pilot bearing and the outside of a V8 pilot bearing cause the four cylinder input shaft is smaller and is too small for the V8 pilot bearing. All you need to do to use the four cylinder bearing is have a sleeve made so it fits in the V8 pilot bearing outer. The V8 T-5 fifth gear sucks cause it’s just a overdrive gear and isn’t really useable other then on the highway at cruising speeds.
I only put Edelbrock carburetors on two things, eBay and Facebook Marketplace. Holley carbs are the way to go unless you go EFI. Nice looking 65. Welcome to the club.
At 12 years old, we make trips around the city on weekends. Listening to Frank pourcel "The Concord" Greetings from Toluca Mexico. And yes, the red mustang got 3 gears + reverse and A timing chain.
I owned a 65 Mustang GT convertible with the 4 speed. It was by far the most fun car I ever owned. It was black with red stripes down the lower side and red interior. The only problem, it was a typical Fix or Repair Daily (FORD). You're right about the cooling system being bad. Also had problems with the distributer. Even with those problems, I regret ever parting with it. The 289 had a red line at 7700 rpm and you could take it to 89 MPH or so in second gear, 112 in third. After that, look out! The standard suspension was not that great at those high speeds. I bought it for $2500 new and sold it for $2600 in 1972. Still kicking myself. Thanks for the memories Scotty
Awesome Car,great choice for a Mustang,I got a Blue 69 Mustang Mach 1 and I love it,I have own it for 40 years, old Mustang with modern up grades is the way to go ,without destroying its originality.

This was exciting to see. Thanks! The 1960s cars were tops!!
That's a beautiful car, the '65 and '66 Mustang GT Fastbacks are my favorite bodystyle of any and all auto manufacturers...I'll own one some day soon I hope....
Don't you mean 65-70? They all look the same basically but the 67-70s are wider to accommodate for larger engines.
I thought his dream car was upgrading to a 95 Celica
Yes sir, I thought the same...
No, new Toyotas are crap :))) Pay attention.
And since this is Mechanic Monday, Scotty is giving away his 65 Mustang to me...right Scotty? Lol. I wish. Beautiful car. Congrats!
YOU ARE ONE OF MY GUYS!!!! I just bought my mustang!!!!! 2 weeks ago!!!!
Nice car! Love the color. The 5 speed is nice. You've got the overdrive for highway cruising and A/C to keep you cool.
In my experience the 3 speed automatic has some questionable reliability. Id love to throw it away for a 5 speed manual but cant do it til I save up for it.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
yeah dont get one of these with the factory automatic lol bad performance and way less fuel mileage. And also less reliable.
When I see an old fastback mustang, the first song that pops into my head is, I can't drive 55 !!!
Fling open the passenger door and Love Walks In....
@@EgoShredder A classic Mustang with some modern upgrades gives you the Best of Both Worlds
I bought a Fox body off a girl named Sally 🤣
True story.
He kept calling it a GT and never said Fastback. He has no clue on this history of these cars.
I only put Edelbrock carburetors on two things, eBay and Facebook Marketplace. Holley carbs are the way to go unless you go EFI. Nice looking 65. Welcome to the club.
Gorgeous!!! I only have a 66 coupe, love the fastback!!!
Dont dis your coupe. They are great, and sold the most. If you must, say, I have a coupe, but really like the fastback better.
I will never be able to afford my dream car, A '70 Plumb Crazy Hemi 'Cuda!
You can do anything if you are willing to stop at nothing, never lose hope
If its a matching numbers car your after, just sell your house.
Nice.. But I would hav a hemi charger..
70 Chevelle
Buy one and paint purple.
Is Cheaper
I have my dream car in my garage. 1969 mustang fastback with a nicely built 351C and a 4 speed. I'm happy you got yours. :)
How to make Scotty happy: metal door handles :)
Go!! Scotty! CONGRATULATIONS! She's a beaut!

A timing chain.
Didn't know there was a muscle version of Toyota's Cellica
Congratulations, Scotty! You've put in enough filming time for it.
I'm a simple man.I see an old mustang..I press like!!
I really wanted to see Scotty start it up!
The channel isn't good enough to actually drive cars, he just talks about them
I imagine a loud growl sound when it turns on and in idle, with roaring when he revs up that engine.
Awesome Car,great choice for a Mustang,I got a Blue 69 Mustang Mach 1 and I love it,I have own it for 40 years, old Mustang with modern up grades is the way to go ,without destroying its originality.
Can we appreciate his drip for a second?
Scotty: 200 hp is peanut horsepower
Me in my toyota 86: ;-;
me in having a car with less than 75 hp: *sad daewoo noises*
They aren’t meant for power just speed, there’s a lot more than horsepower that determines that
It's a lighter car and it will get you more dates than you can imagine possible.
Go Scotty! I'm currently building my late father's 65 Mustang coupe & have shared this video on some Mustang groups. Welcome to the proud owner's club :)
Scotties dream car: Toyota Celica
Dream car for daily use LOL ... far from a classic.

94 Celica: Am I a joke to you?
94 traded in for older model? whats wrong with that pic
Now your talking! Nice Car!
Nevermind turning heads, who cares, thats one sweet ride though
Now that's the right spirit when choosing a car! Thumbs up for you, sir.
@@BuhBuhBoomer all im saying is turning heads is not at all important while buying a car or anything for that matter. Some people may turn their heads for whatever reason, but one shouldnt get a nice car just to turn heads. A car such as this should be bought for the love of the car.
@@BuhBuhBoomer to each his own
I would get this car just to turn heads lmao its a very nice car tho and i would love to own one
99.9% of bmw drivers bought the car because of they want it to turn heads
