  • Fine cut glass has been a market elegance and luck Sharee for centuries. The sparkling reflection from the brilliant class. Is what people desired and loved. You can still get that sparkling brilliance in our antique mall with our Crystal throughout. We are located at 39 Front St. E. strath Roy antique mall over 21,000 ft.². If you're unsure how to tell if it's antique crystal we can help you many people believe in the blacklight theory but with that said some of the new Crystal they made in the 80s also have a yellowish color. To determine if it is real Crystal there's many other ways to towel for instants how the cut is made like was it made by electrical motors or was or was it made by I located steam engine. It depends on how the glass was cut to where it was press down on the wheel and the Carter's summer signed. Some still have the original stickers. You can check by the wheel marks the teeth marks and just a sign of normal wear. Shapes also or another way to tell whether it's Oldernew a reproduction are not in general blanks of the new cut crystal show much more variation thickness within a single piece that old blanks. It's especially noticeable and plates tumblers at sandals specially the smaller size bowls. Many bottoms of the new tumblers and plates are fake away twice that there is an old playing or similar shape so the thickness is a giveaway right away.The centre also of the new sticker blanks are frequently not always but usually forms a Hyspot. Just come to the front and we can go through some of the details and select for you a nice antique cut glass crstal pieces.

    This is nothing but a commercial.
    The title of the video is, "Crystal-antique-cut crystal-how to tell if it is crystal"
    This contains NO information about, "...how to tell if it is crystal".

    I have a collection of American Brilliant Cut Crystal. I have been collecting for about 45 years. I find the newer pieces made in the 70's are lighter in weight smooth to the touch, and have a milky chalk substance layer on the inside. Also if you see the glass has yellow tint to it, it was in a home with smokers, and it's in the glass nothing you do will remove it !!! Best to leave it on the shelf not worth the time or money !!!

      You have no idea what you are Talking about , yes you can clean up ABP ,it can be done with soaking it in Dawn and it that does not work for you CLR . and if you are not patience then send it off to Fred Matthews, you can find him on the AGCA. ,I have bought so many pieces that others passed up .and cleaned them up and restored them to all there beauty. So far as the weight on some things you are right ,but when it comes to Waterford and Baccarat you are very wrong as they made there Glass with higher Oxide of magnesium and Oxide of lead very much like they did at the turn of the century During the ABP oxide of Lead and Magnesium . were used at between 32 and 54 %.

    If you are going to talk about antique American Brilliant cut glass, you might want to have at least ONE piece to show. The earliest glass in your video is from the '30s not the Brilliant period.

    I’m trying to figure out who made a lead crystal lamp, it has an original sticker that says lead crystal made in Western Germany, it’s beautiful cranberry and stands 41” tall with the original shade which I’m not seeing any as nice as this one. I purchased it many years ago and they said it was made in 1955 I think, tho my mother says they said 1938. So how do I know who made it? I could send you photos if you’d like.
    Thanks

    call it what you want its still glass and glass has not ben popular in 20 years now days you can go to goodwill and pick up expensive glass dirt cheap along with other thrift shop. last time I was their they had a crap load of carnival and right next store at a garodge sail a lady was selling her collection witch hade fenten and carnival along with some crystal. each piece was $1 and after the sail for 3 days she still hade most of it left.

      vorkev1 Go online and look at the price of carnival and depression glass (pink and green) pyrex anchor hocking bowls. You can buy and resell it for a nice profit.

      I deal with buying trading and reselling and wholesale along with liquidation. I have a huge network with tuns of dealers dealing in glass and most of its yes holds a value if name brand but not the value they clam in the video what they show is a price that one in a blue moon someone will play other then that it moves slowly. the biggest thing that will moves if priced right is colored glass clear glass no matter the brand and even the price is a extram slow mover. As a matter I have had some new stuff I just added to my show that sells on ebay for 3 to 4 times the price or around their sitting for some time now even with my low price and I get 1000s of people in the shop every day. my big thing is right now to is I have ben thinking about buying some uranium glass from a seller down the road for $2 to $3 a piece depending on what it is and most of it has a value of 3 to 10 times that but they have had it for sale for a long time now and no one has even made them a offer and they get way more people in their shop them I do. the only thing is I no xmas is coming and people like red glass and green glass at that time and the darker stuff like avocado and cranberry sells most of the time but that is kind of a hard find and hard sell when its not xmas time. I do have some ftn avocado but no cranberry right now I do wish I did tho.

      depends who made it. condition and rarity. We see do well here and there still is collectors too. The prices are lower, yes than 10 years ago but still sells .

    • @dawncrystal9650
      @dawncrystal9650 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes i see the second hand shops full of glass but you will find that 99% of it was crap when it was new, you realy dont find good quality hand made full lead hand cut crystal in them kind of places, just the cheap mass produced stuff. but but a lot of people just dont know the difference

    • @dawncrystal9650
      @dawncrystal9650 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      as for being popular crystal is always popular with those people who appreciate quality, its just not popular with idiots who follow trends.

    The blue bubble stem goblets are made by the current Harrach factory in the Czech Republic and not old. You can find them for sale on the Harrach website. In addition, I don't know what sense it makes to name the ABC cut patterns without showing an example of each as you speak. Your research should be more extensive if you plan to do more informative TH-cam videos. You should delete this video and make a new one.

    • @ricksloves1559
      @ricksloves1559 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some of the patterns you speck of are very hard to find, and only the rich folks can a ford them, and this guy may not have that kind of money, and since most photos are in this case copy righted he can post them., You have no idea how many Patterns in the ABP era there are, just think of like this in the hey day there were over 1100 cutting houses and most had hundreds it not thousands of patterns.some very collectable and some very that were not made but for a year or less but very desirable, and expensive.It is up realistic to think someone can even begin to have all that is talked about.The Goblets you are speaking of were also produced 100 years ago but the folks over in the Czech area and in Belgium , as well as Bohemia and so on and they still make them the same way, to boot people are making old style cut glass on the border of Turkey and Russia. Take a look at this video and you will see what i am talking about when it comes to ABP prices.th-cam.com/video/2Nr1uECVSKQ/w-d-xo.html
