    I've just stumbled into what's now a 45 minute yt binge. I collect antiques, and I especially love antique and vintage glass and crystal pieces. I have a ton of iridescent, awesome glass, and many other old and odd things I've had a great deal of trouble identifying... @@DrLoriV I would love for him to watch the video to settle this dispute, but he hates antiques. He would rather watch paint peel than to watch an informative video about antiques, lol. Since watching Dr Lori's videos I am hesitant to buy pieces that are chipped except when the intention is only for display in decor. You can create a nice corner with a chipped piece if you turn the chip to face the wall. In most cases I don't buy if it is chipped thanks to Dr Lori. I fell in love with 2 Delft pieces, but it had fine cracks in the glaze so I did not purchace it. What a shame. Hoping this is not the norm for Delft, since I hope to still purchase some. my husband just acquired some crystal from his aunt's estate. you are helping me to learn about it, but i still don't know. i fell in love with a tall vase, with a pinwheel/pineapple pattern and scalloped rim. it really "TINGS" for a long time !! it is heavy. it is clear. i am going to have to find a crystal appraiser for the value of the pieces. there are 2 ashtrays, they can't be worth much cause they have hairline scratches on them. there is a small sugar 'bowl', but it's not a round bowl, it's more like a cup with a lid and a notch out of the lid for a spoon. and then there is a beautiful HEAVY medium sized flower or fruit bowl. it's not footed. i need to find someone with a blacklight to get the colors. all the pieces match with the same pattern.

    Dr. Lori, you made me laugh at what guys do to store various items in a piece of glass. I had an inexpensive glass piece that I had momentarily placed on the top of a chest of drawers. I didn't have a place picked out for it yet. Well, hubby started putting all the odds and ends of things he would find cleaning cars and it became his place for all of those things. I had him clean off the top of the chest of drawers and so he removed his junk. That glass piece was SO damaged from what he used it for. I figured it was damaged like that very early on when he first started using it, and so I never said anything. My hubby is a guy who will put his junk in anything standing still long enough for him to do so. Now, he's using some inexpensive milk glass vases (large ones) to put his pennies, etc., in. I actually don't care about the vases he's using. Even today I can pick them up cheap if I wanted to. However, I am going to make sure he knows NOT to put anything in some of the more valuable glass that I have. Just about anything will damage glass. My hubby provided me with proof of that, lol! All of that said, now I have to remove all of his little junk away from some in-expensive items I am trying to display right inside the side door of the house. That whole shelf has more junk then I have anything I'm displaying for decor. Many times when I tell him to remove it, he complains and points out that I have things on the shelf too. That is going to be almost hopeless unless I find an empty basket for him to throw his junk into (that would include oil, masking tape, tools, etc.,). You get the idea, lol!

    Quick question to you and your watchers. I have a few of these very heavy, great condition of these do you know where I can sell them at?

    • @DrLoriV
      @DrLoriV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      People use my online appraisal reports to help them sell. The reports include a location where a similar piece sold and for how much. This helps answer your question for a specific item. One person used my report to help them sell a plate for over $1,000. They bought the plate at a yard sale for $1.

    • @DrLoriV
      @DrLoriV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I look at photos on my website and also do FaceTime and Skype calls. All details at www.DrLoriV.com/. Don't get frustrated about values. Stick to one thing and learn it. Then, worry about something else. I value pieces based on what people really pay.
