@@KostasGreek ummmm honestly I fought that also. I wanna say ya the front sam did control that. BUT theres couple other switches that run/stop windshield from operating. Mine was the switch on the steering column. But when u open the hood to ur right on the front theres a little stitch the hood presses down and itll stop the windshield from operating bc the car thinks the hood is open so check that also bc alot of people said they had problems with that also. Honestly unless u know ur front sam is bad my guess would be a broken wire in ur wiper switch like mine was. (Unless like I said u already know ur front sam is bad lol) edit I didnt mean to hit send yet: I have a video also on here about fighting the windshield wiper if u look, If I put a link alot of times TH-cam thinks its spam so just check my videos it's there. Now i did buy a new wiper switch from autozone and was aftermarket for like 100$and went thro 3 and NONE OF THEM WORKED SADLY, dont know why, plugged right in just car wouldnt recognize it or something, looked like shoulda worked tho. Finally i went to O'Reillys and paid 150$ and got one that looked like it was OEM (built like stock) it's worked ever since. The job looks tedious but wasnt that bad just remeber to TO KEEP STEERING STRAIGHT WHEN STARTING JOB, and to lock the clockwork gear, I used rolled up paper first time to lock it, but the o'Reillys switch came with a plastic lock for it and autozone didnt but the paper worked fine. I have no idea how to reset the clockwork gear btw. And when u remove/replace that clockwork gear just remember TO KEEP IT STRAIGHT!!!!!! PULL OUT STRAIGHT AND REPLACE STRAIGHT IN or else u can damage the pins. Honestly it looks like alot if work but it wasnt that bad I swear. And ya these cares are famous for that wire breaking in the switch if hood switch is working right. The hood switch wont show on dash, but it will stop the wipers from moving bc car thinks hood is open so try it first. For real I did whole video on this car and wipers btw. And remeber everyone please like and subscribe to all ur favorite channels and videos to help us creators grow thx. Oh and harbor freight sells a bit kit for like 10$ if it had ever bit u need for this car. It's cheap so when I break a bit I just buy a new set ea time. It's the black set from the video.
@hiddenbigfoot Hey man, I haven't confirmed that the front SAM is fried yet. Long story, short. A few months back, the battery died on the C230. Once I jumped it, it started right up. Then my issues started. Horn not working, windshield wipers inop(replaced wiper motor last year), when I start car the headlights and tail lights go on automatically. Headlights stuck on bright as well. Moonroof opens and closes by itself like it's possessed lol. I think my directionals aren't working either, not sure lol.. Everyone I spoke to is accusing me attaching cables the wrong way when I jumped it. Maybe I did lol ugggh... Oh and my battery has been draining now when not in use. Would a weak battery make those issues I'm having?
@@KostasGreek ya that's what my sam did when it went out. I got another video on it also buy mine got flooded bc someone b4 left the SAM box open. It was just "glitching" at first..... and running battery dead also...... THEN I got the car, my dad actually bought it but couldn't figure out stuff bc Benz does stuff so different lol..... but first night I took to car wash AND FLOODED THE SAM BOX bc the box was just open and the gutter was funneling water straight into sam. That sam was just junk. I even did a video on it also, I knew I was gonna have to replace so I even busted it open to see what went wrong and every board and pathways in it was just full of corrosion. As soon as I replaced all my problems went away tho. I bought mine off ebay, it started and ran fine but I did go have it programmed to the car a buddy's shop I kno, I couldn't even tell the difference honestly but I still had it done. But ya check my videos man. Most stuff I do this car I record. But ya after car wash all my lights freaked out, even had to pull over 30 min till it stopped. Sunroof was fin tho, but ya 90% of all the same problems ur having. But I also had the brights or sims staying on and mine was that combination switch. But yep my sam was shot lol. Feel free to ask any questions tho and I'll help if I can as long as i see the notification. My phone dont always tell me but I do "try" to watch for then. Thx for watching tho ya, oh and if u replace off ebay like I did, make sure u match the vin like they ask for. It plugged in and worked just fine, but I still had it programmed later to see it would give me more functions.... even tho I couldn't tell like I said lol.
@@KostasGreek oh theres a way to reprogram that sun roof also. With it closed hold "open" like 5 sec, then "close" like 5 sec, then back to "open" 5 sec and that should reset and reprogram. U may have to "close" 5 sec one last time. I have to redo ea time I unhook battery. Bc I think that sunroof is ran by SAM#2 (theres 3 in these kf I remember right, front sam runs engine lights ect, one SAM runs interior, and rear SAM runs the rear and like fuel and stuff. Just don't quote me on all that bc my #2 and #3 never had problems so I didnt figure out exactly what ran what. But ya from what u said sounds like ur front SAM is shot bc same problems I had. Hope all this helps thoAND MAKE SURE EA TIME U OPEN THAT SAM BOX IT SEALS AND GOES BCK TOGETHER RIGHT EA TIME lol. Or else it will flood like bc the gutter system sends water right past it
Is it safe for the wiper mechanism to prime it the way you did? Was it the first and only time you have done it? Some remove the wiper and push the mechanism down. I am asking as I don't want to damage anything whilst swapping over the SAM units. Thanks. Regards.
Ya I thought I was gonna have to disassemble mine after seeing few videos, but but after doin it couple times it was a tight fit for sure "but mine" had just enough room to twist it around bck and forth amd come out. The time I did it recording was actually the worst attempt lol. After doing it a few times bc of waiting for parts, i took ot apart and put bck to together several times b4 new parts came in. I just found a spot to twist/wiggle it and came right on out. Trust me I would have taken it all apart if I thought it was gonna break "on mine" i just record part time when i have time, im actaully pretty advanced in mechanic field tho. Now i will say mines the 07 c230 I don't know if slight/other versions/yr/make/modle/ect must be taken apart or not, I just kno it was able to come out on mine twisting just right and lift diagonal couple times and slid right out for me. I dont like taking. I did have to move and pop that bar apart but just make sure bushing goes back together right way if i remeber job right. It wasnt bad tho. Thx for watching tho everyone and font forget to like and subscribe to all your favorite channels to help us creators grow. It really does help. Thx again and any questions feel free to ask and if I can help I will
Well, i checked new at autozone vs ebay, ended up goin with the ebay one. I did have to match the Vin so that it would work. It came with "almost" everything. I had to pull couple relays and fuses from old one for car to start tho. But I did start and run without being programmed more after installed. I do have a friend that programmed it rest of way after I installed it.... but honestly I couldn't tell any difference after I had rest of programming done. I have noticed my rain sensor isn't working right, but I don't think I've done the "rain sensor reset process" right. I'd like to take it to actual dealer and talk them about it.... but I haven't yet. Hope this helps and don't forget to like and subscribe to all your favorite channels to help them grow.
