I watched a guy cross polarity on my auction c240. Everything went haywire. Runs, won’t shut off with key out. Lights, wipers, horns, one fog light on, random moments of normalcy. Glad to see your video mention this with the SAM
Yes you can program with sds, the best thing is read the old one and write to the replacement one, or at least change the vin in the module & FGS make the right key!
Great video! I appreciate all the detailed info, tips etc. I’m curious if the SAM fixed your issues.. I have 2002 W203. After it rained the headlights wouldn’t turn off. It’s not on constant in the display, already checked via steering wheel button menu. I get coolant level low when it’s full, ABS light comes and goes and says it can’t connect to ESP. I checked all the fuses too. It sounds similar to the issue you had and wondering if the SAM replacement fixed issues.

I swapped an 02 into a 98 e320 ,sam mod and worked perfectly, Aloha!!!I just got Ur same car for 200 clean as a whistle,stored, 5 years and a Rat got into it,ate only a few wires,but VITAL,GOING TO IGNITION AREA,KEY IS STUCK IN AND I CUT OPEN STEERING LOCK UNTIL I FOUND SOME WIRES IN THE RATS NEST, ANGELIC INTERVENTION!!
That was a while ago, I dont remember what I paid but I think when all was done I had about 1600 in the car total. Keep in mind this was before car prices went stupid and auction prices started going nuts. I have another set of videos of an Acura TL, my out the door after fees was 1900 on that one and after fixing and alot of maintenance I have about 3500 in it. It seems the acuras sell for less than hondas on the salvage auctions lately.
Is there a trick to change the SAM? I had problems to get mine out. Just very narrow even with wipers straight up. But no way to get the new one back in. I ended up cutting away some plastic parts at the car.
I havnt heard of that one before with the c240, have you checked your grounds? any warning or cel lights? does the car start back up after the ignition is cycled?
@@juniorbandz2406 again do you have any warnings or cel lights? mercedes cars love to scream for attention when something isnt right. Not always but usually. I almost wonder if power to your ecu is getting briefly interupted.

You changed your sam or not? my c230 w203 2005 v6 is geting me nervous because every time i fix something another thing break. after change battery i got a lot of electrical issues. everything is pointing to sam failure (i probably burned trying to charge the old battery). do you have any link where i can search this part?
Do you have any way to try and clear the sam related faults? I have a Carsoft reader which for only around 100 US is great for resetting things that a basic OBD2 cant do. To do more I have factory software which requires more cables and a multiplexer. Part numbers for the sam modules vary depending on how the car is optioned. To know what you have youd basically have to remove yours to see the number. I did change mine but i was very lucky to have found a car completely identical in a junk yard and they thought it was just a fuse box so I paid only 15 dollars for it. You may be correct about charging, if you do need to charge a car disconnect the ground. being both wires are black going to the battery i wonder how many get jump started wrong causing the problem. Now with age im sure more will be going bad due to the old capacitors leaking onto the board.
I feel your pain. I have a C240 2005 and it has a pain in my ass. 1 thing after another after another. Can't keep up. Fml. Now the stupid coolant fan wants to run non stop car on or not. Watching other channels some said its the battery. Or the engine module. Whatever it is I'm fed tf up. I actually have a list of crap that's wrong and I've actually fixed some of the problems myself. All by my lil self..lol... because of TH-cam thank God for you guys sharing your knowledge.

i got a used rear sam unit from a c240, mine was a c230 it worked fine without programming

its been a few years, I dont remember the trick but i do remember it being a PITA. Did you get it all hooked up and running?

I would just unplug the battery and the SAM codes would be gone.
