Can't start a combo with Brighid or Pandoria, can't start with Poppi A or QT's default elements, can't do Volcano (best base dmg for DoT) etc. This ends up being a real pita on fights where the enemy's enrage timing is somewhat unpredictable, such as ch.4 endboss on BoC (doing NG+ off the back of a barebones pseudo-speedrun of the first playthrough where I tried to keep rare blade use to a minimum and only kept like 5k gold and some ODPs). Play as Rex and try to kill them quickly, and they enrage before you've got a full party gauge or lv.4 special ready to survive rage strikes or Stellar Explosion (Cressidus' AoE launch) which frequently one-shots AI Rex/Nia even if it isn't a rage strike. Not to mention the risk involved with having to switch to Pyra for the lv.4, since Mythra's can't be used indoors. Play Tora and the others die because AI Nia doesn't understand the importance of keeping everyone's HP topped off on BoC (even with double arts recharge pouch items she has trouble keeping up because the AI doesn't have an adjustable HP threshold for panic heals). Tora doesn't have the self-sustain at this point to solo the fight. You end up playing Nia and doing a whole lot of waiting, sitting on your lv.4 special to survive 1-shot attacks, and having Mythra use specials to try and build the party gauge for eventual coffee with milk. It's BoC so Mythra on AI Rex won't be able to build the gauge fast enough to do solo combos. Meanwhile Tora can't use his specials at all because then Rex will swap to Pyra, losing the evasion buff, and then it's only a matter of time before Tora gets toppled/launched and subsequently destroyed. The battle pace is like wading through molasses because a lot of the options that would speed it up result in your AI members doing unthinkably dumb stuff to throw the fight heavily in your opponents' favor. I'm disappointed that Kingdom Hearts 2 has more advanced party AI config options than this game, and KH2 is a 15 year old game where your party members are so non-vital to success that memes have been made about how unnecessary and useless they are outside of spamming cure/potions on you when you're at low HP, lol.
@@Tachtzehn I realized how important Foresight is against Carlos. It's absolutely critical to combine Mythra and Shulk to have an evasion build effective enough to survive that fight. I learnt that the hard way. It's extremely annoying when drivers do whatever they want like swapping blades at any moment. Here I was removing blades from drivers to make it work somehow. Eventually I just put Shulk with almighty Zeke and Rex with Mythra and I went for it with Tora. I ate a couple of shockwaves with my face but I succeeded. I'm proud I could defeat Carlos and Ken un BoC but the Poisoned Paradise is still impossible for me, that challenge is a nightmare and a big part of the problem is, apart from all the crap put together in that fight from some jerk in Monolith, the lacking AI from this game.
I just wish Pyra gained some sort of Mythra related skill buff after Chapter 7 after having tapped into her potential back in Tantal when she threatens to call upon Siren's power. I love them both, thank you very much for all these amazing guides Enel.

I think... I think they could have done a "Foresight" parallel by giving Pyra a party-wide damage boosting skill. I'd actually really enjoy seeing that.
Maybe she can have her blade combo damage boost (since she already has that) but extend it to the whole party. It's a little odd they had it start at 24% but I guess they thought 96% was too good given the slight increase from max affinity would push it past 100%.

What I see in Mythra is someone with a lot of power and an even greater burden. At the start of Torna she is an absolute brat but by the beginning of XC2, she's far more responsible if quite cold. Looking at Pyra, I feel like Pneuma evolved into someone familiar with understanding, kindness, forgiveness and love. You know, the important things in life. I like them both but If I have to choose, It is Pyra whom I want walking by my side. Only now the Territorial Rotbart won't pummel me to dust for trying. Thank you for that
Or add a new one in ng+. Some blades definitely needed a better affinity chart with better skills and unlocking a new chart after going into ng+ with S rank or higher would make sense.
Despite Mythra being better in several areas, I find Pyra's specials I find to be better than Mythra's on most, if not, all fronts. 1. Her Level 4 can be used at any time 2. Her Level 4 charges faster 3. She has an easier time pulling off blade combos 4. She can do 72% extra damage during blade combos 5. She can possibly instakill an enemy with a special below when the enemy's health is 20% 6. Fire orbs are easier to break in Chain Attacks 7. Her criticals during her specials do more damage thanks to one of her passive skills. Essentially, while Mythra's passives greatly benefit driver arts, accuracy, evasion, and crits for quick, spammable driver arts, Pyra's passives greatly help with specials and blade combos for massive damage. Because of this, it's great to use Mythra and charge up the special meter by spamming arts and crits. Then, once you get level 4 (or are ready to do a blade combo or chain attack) switch to Pyra to deal great damage and then switch back and repeat. I think this balance really helps both characters compliment each other and excel as a deadly unit. The Aegis is really fun to play because of this.

Man imagine if purifying flame had a 25% chance to to one shot non boss enemies with up to 100% HP at level 5, sure its still not great but it could have some niche use against the Urchon’s (or maybe bringer of chaos) as I’ve found them to be on the more tanky side.
Yeah, if it was like that it would be awesome for crowd control. Imagine Carlos challenge. You have to kill a ton of enemies before him, it could be an interesting setup to use Pyra for that but because there are other AoE monsters like Corvin, Dagas and Kos-Mos this is forgotten, not to mention the skill itself is pretty useless even at level 5. Maybe the devs nerfed that skill because it was too strong and it was left like that along with giving her only 2 Aux Core slots instead of 3 as well as Mythra.
If she had a better skill than purifying flames, like a crit boost or damage additive she’d honestly be a monster since blade art boost is huge and having 50% crit damage is huge

The DoT strategy can synergize very well with crossette's launching damage skill. If you put her on Zeke (along with a greataxe and Corvin), there's a chance she can come out during a launch if Stone is up, and if tora launches that means a lot of DoT damage! (In my experience)
Just wanna say thank you for making these! I recently beat the main story so i wanted to delve a bit into character builds and i'm so happy that Pyra is able bodied! I liked using her but i felt so weak by the end of the run that i swapped over to mythra most of the time....
I am thinking of playing Xenoblade 2 later this year or next year. I enjoyed Xenoblade DE so far and I am currently going through a New Game + play through of that game right now. Also Enel, your content on the Xeno series is top notch. That video of yours on the strategy of topple locking for Xenoblade DE made my runs against the super bosses of that game much more fun.

overclocking bangle + world tree drop + loincloth is my preferred setup for damage blades like pyra, takes a little bit of time to set up but the damage is so nice
I've picked up the game again due to these videos, and have been consistently impressed with how many options are available. However, never really viewed using Pyra at all an option, so it's always good to see that I've overlooked a cool strategy.
Great video! I just wanted to mention that the Screen Size setting on your Switch seems like it might be a little too high? The game doesn't seem to fit the screen perfectly, getting cut off slightly at the edges. Not a big deal, just thought I'd mention it since it's pretty easy to fix before you record more (System Settings > TV Output > Adjust Screen Size). Looking forward to future videos, keep it up!
It’s so strange to me that she has such a bad skill and only two aux core slots. I swear the story blades should have been reworked with the later updates to the game. I don’t see why they couldn’t?
Because they would be broken which is hilarious. The strongest blades in the game have 3 Aux Cores like Fiora, Corvin, Kos-Mos or T-los and QTPi goes through the roof with how versatile she can be with Tora.
@@blazeworkshopg-unit8250 I highly doubt Monolith is going to nerf or buff any blade after two years since the launch of the game. They nerfed the gold and silver chips and that's it.
purifying flames reminds me of headshot can instantly kill has a dumb requirement to even instant kill both have 15% chance of instant kill (granted you have purifying flames at level 5) and they are both equally as bad purifying flames because it doesnt boost damage headshot because its on sharla which means *cool off* (oh yeah the cooldown too ig)
Please make a video on optimal possibles common blade(Best combo of skills/stats/element). You don't have to actually pull one, just explain what the luckiest possible could be You are the only one who truly has the information. Thanks for these updated blade guides!

That "switch to Mythra" joke at the beginning had me rolling. Poor Pyra. I do tend to use her when I need a fire combo and I do use Mythra to get those specials charged up, but then I always switch right back to Mythra when Pyra's done what I need. I might look into trying to use them both together more to take advantage of what they both have to offer. Mythra's still best girl, though.
I have a question In one of the cutscenes in chapter 2 brighid is weakened by the water and it’s made clear that pyra isn’t because fire isn’t her actual element as it’s mythras light so I was wondering does this translate into gameplay as in is pyra weak to dark or is she weak to water
I really like her character, though I wish she would be a bit better. Purifying flames would instead have a damage boost of 15% to all enemies except humanoid, machines, and titans. (She is cannonically weaker than Mythra right?) Special 1 and 2 have a 25% crit chance.
Pyra actually has a second level 4 special, but it takes a stupid long time to setup, and still isn't really all that powerful. If Rex has Nia in blade form "equipped" and both Nia and Pyra are at max affinity during a battle, they both get a new level 4 special where they both work together with Rex to do some cool looking shit, but, it's not really all that strong. IDK about the exact stats though, and it might be tied to what you decide to name Pneuma. Speaking of Pneuma, since you brought up the idea of Pyra & Mythra sharing skill trees or whatever, imagine if that WAS a thing, but for the Pneuma form only, getting Mythra's crit rate with Pyra's crit power, Mythra's istant arts crit recharge , ect. Oh and imagine if Pneuma also had access to both Prya & Mythra's Aux cores at teh same time too, unless she does, IDK how this shit works, that's why I'm watching your videos!

I think it would have been hilarious if Pyra's instant death thing worked on UMs. That would have been so freaking funny to one shot everybody's favorite gorilla extremely early because you got the instant death.

Idk man both pyra and mythra in my opinion should be the same tier because the burning damage creep is insane I've never seen a fire blade sap hp the way she does but I mostly only use her when I'm back into a corner and need a level 4 special but mythra won't use hers.
Pyra will always hold a special place in my heart because she was the first rare blade I pulled.

I just wanted to mention that the Screen Size setting on your Switch seems like it might be a little too high? The game doesn't seem to fit the screen perfectly, getting cut off slightly at the edges. Not a big deal, just thought I'd mention it since it's pretty easy to fix before you record more (System Settings > TV Output > Adjust Screen Size).

It’s so strange to me that she has such a bad skill and only two aux core slots. I swear the story blades should have been reworked with the later updates to the game. I don’t see why they couldn’t?
Because they would be broken which is hilarious. The strongest blades in the game have 3 Aux Cores like Fiora, Corvin, Kos-Mos or T-los and QTPi goes through the roof with how versatile she can be with Tora.

has a dumb requirement to even instant kill
both have 15% chance of instant kill (granted you have purifying flames at level 5)
and they are both equally as bad
purifying flames because it doesnt boost damage
headshot because its on sharla which means *cool off* (oh yeah the cooldown too ig)

That "switch to Mythra" joke at the beginning had me rolling. Poor Pyra. I do tend to use her when I need a fire combo and I do use Mythra to get those specials charged up, but then I always switch right back to Mythra when Pyra's done what I need. I might look into trying to use them both together more to take advantage of what they both have to offer. Mythra's still best girl, though.

In one of the cutscenes in chapter 2 brighid is weakened by the water and it’s made clear that pyra isn’t because fire isn’t her actual element as it’s mythras light so I was wondering does this translate into gameplay as in is pyra weak to dark or is she weak to water

I really like her character, though I wish she would be a bit better. Purifying flames would instead have a damage boost of 15% to all enemies except humanoid, machines, and titans. (She is cannonically weaker than Mythra right?) Special 1 and 2 have a 25% crit chance.

Pyra actually has a second level 4 special, but it takes a stupid long time to setup, and still isn't really all that powerful. If Rex has Nia in blade form "equipped" and both Nia and Pyra are at max affinity during a battle, they both get a new level 4 special where they both work together with Rex to do some cool looking shit, but, it's not really all that strong. IDK about the exact stats though, and it might be tied to what you decide to name Pneuma. Speaking of Pneuma, since you brought up the idea of Pyra & Mythra sharing skill trees or whatever, imagine if that WAS a thing, but for the Pneuma form only, getting Mythra's crit rate with Pyra's crit power, Mythra's istant arts crit recharge , ect. Oh and imagine if Pneuma also had access to both Prya & Mythra's Aux cores at teh same time too, unless she does, IDK how this shit works, that's why I'm watching your videos!

I think it would have been hilarious if Pyra's instant death thing worked on UMs. That would have been so freaking funny to one shot everybody's favorite gorilla extremely early because you got the instant death.

Idk man both pyra and mythra in my opinion should be the same tier because the burning damage creep is insane I've never seen a fire blade sap hp the way she does but I mostly only use her when I'm back into a corner and need a level 4 special but mythra won't use hers.
