the "I'll get older but your lovers stay my age" line is craaaazy cos she wrote it when she was like 21/22 (about ~30 year old Jake Gyllenhaal), released it like 10 years later at age 31/32 with Red (Taylor's Version) and Jake Gyllenhaal was 42 dating a ~24 year old. The part when she says "It's supposed to be fun turning 21" is quite literal. 'The Moment I Knew' is a song on Red that talks about her 21st birthday party that he didn't attend and that made her feel sad because it was an important moment of her life and she wanted him there. It is said that's one of the reasons the year later she made '22', to symbolize a different start to a whole new cycle. At least in this relationship we know that somehow she looked at it later with unbothered vibes as we know from 'I Bet You Think About Me'.

What would be cool is to continue the All too well story by listening to 'The moment I knew' which relates back to her 21st and then for laughs, 'I'll bet you think about me' a kind of parody of the whole situation. Taylor also wrote this after a long writer's block. When she finally was able to sit down with her words, they all just came spilling out of her in the ten minute version before Liz Rose helped her edit it down. The "crumpled up piece of paper" has always felt to me like her words that she couldnt get quite right and she felt disposable and like she was a mess from the break up. She also repeats "I was there. I remember it all too well" which might be because he constantly tried to gaslight her. She's ensuring him that she remembers it how it actually was

I love the ending of the 10 minute version of this song, cause as she says in one of the verses, he never called what they had "Love", so the ending and actually the whole song to me feels like she is trying to reassure her self that "No, I was there, i remember it all too well that it was love." Also at the end after exposing their relationship to the world in a 10 min song, she asks him "Just between us, you remember it too right?" insane lyricism, no lyric is without meaning. I could write about it for a long long time. Thank you for reacting to it! ♥

So glad you enjoyed this song, it's considered her most fan-favorite song when it was 5 minutes but when she dropped the 10-minute version it blew us all away! So now you have to watch her 15-minute short film of this song! It explains what really happened with additional dialogue from the actors Dylan O'Brien (Maze Runner, Love and Monsters) and Sadie Sink (Stranger Things). She not only wrote all the lyrics and melody of this song, but she also wrote and directed this film (it won 4 awards). You will see why that age difference was only part of the problem. He has continued to this day to date women that are 20-22 when he's in his forties. The short film will blow you away! Looking forward to more of your Taylor reactions!

My absolute favourite thing about Taylor is how she perfectly puts into words feelings, moments and experiences we’ve all had and struggled to explain. She somehow makes it all make sense. A true lyrical genius

I love so much your reactions, it’s not normal to see men reacting to Taylor, there’s so much prejudice around her that normally she’s judged just because of who she is, and her music is fire, so me as a fan I’m really glad you that you guys listen and appreciate her and her music. Thank you!

It’s always a joy to see first time listeners get what Taylor’s all about. More than the persona, the boys, the affairs is just raw songwriting. So descriptive and captures what she went through. As a listener, it’s amazing

It's so mindblowing how this song transformed into what it is known today (one of her best written by far). She told us she and her band were just jamming during rehearsal (speak now tour prob) and she sang this raw for 10-15 mins straight. THANKFULLY the sound guy that day got it all on record and gave it to Mama Swift. The thought of her blurting out those words and expressing those emotions during that jam session makes me realize how truly hurt she must have been by this specific breakup. :(

Love y’all’s reaction. “Don’t Blame Me” from reputation tour and “Wildest Dreams”, “Out Of The Woods” and “We Are Never Getting Back Together” from her 1989 tour are all worth watching. No one puts on a performance like Taylor!

It used to be a hurtful song for her to sing years ago when it first came out(old videos you can see the emotion) but fans loved this song so much over the years that she now only thinks of her fans when she sings it and she loves to sing it now cuz its for the fans

I know y’all have been reviewing her sadder songs on YT but as others have recommended, reputation would be a great album to review. I highly recommend Getaway Car since those lyrics GO HARD. Cruel Summer from the Lover album is also a fan favorite

Hey guys! I really enjoy watching your reactions. I’ve definitely followed you guys before and your appreciation and enthusiasm for great lyrics, vocals and instrumentals is so infectious. I’m sure you’ll get a long list of songs that you should react to next but just to wrap this particular story up, and the visuals that you’ve tapped into, I’d recommend watching the All Too Well Short Film. Taylor directed it and even won an award for the short film category. And it is so well deserved. It’s crazy how such a heart wrenching song could create such a beautiful visual masterpiece. But she’s like that. Thanks again for this reaction!! ❤️

I always feel like the “crumpled up piece of paper” line denotes being permanently marked in two ways. 1) what you wrote is still there, you can’t take away the memories, but also 2) once that paper is crumpled there’s no making it perfectly flat again no matter how hard you try, just like the scars from a being treated like crap by a lover tend to stick around and affect future relationships whether we want them to or not.

  • @lindsayduet5658

this truly is one of my favourites from her, I think its safe to say many swifties agree. I want to point out, how crazy it is to have a breakup with someone, and they write a 5 minute song about you. you'd be like damn okay I hear you, but at least thats over. Then they come back with the "nah I got more to say" and then make a 10 MINUTE SONG about you???? If I was Jake I would be quaking in my boots

This clinched it-I’m subscribing. I can’t miss this journey.
I want to suggest songs, but I know I would end up suggesting way too many… “Best Day” (definitely the music video version is my fav, but lyric video is great, too), “The Archer” (best version is the live performance imo)…”seven” (best version is Long Pond Studio)…”It’s Nice to Have a Friend”… I feel like those are underrated, personally. I never see people recommending them, but I love them.
If you want something faster paced, maybe “Cruel Summer” or “Getaway Car”? I love that Getaway Car works as a metaphor AND works if you take totally literally. Just like “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince”. I genuinely don’t know how she does it.
