I agree 💯 & I hope that they continue also. Not gonna lie, I'm crushing on one of these guys. I'm not being specific on purpose. lol 😉 😊 Just in case, I don't want any drama.😊🤐
One of my fave songs from her. “You’ll find the real thing instead, she’ll patch up the tapestry that I shred” gets me choked up every time. She turned a tragic situation into something beautiful and put it in a song.
You need to listen to the Trilogy…Cardigan, August and Betty. I’ll defer to my fellow Swifties for the best listening order. Taylor is a master(mind) storyteller. She really makes you visualize with her music.
Champagne problems actually means just problems that are seen as socially really insignificant but to her they are big issues. That’s the irony in the song 😭♥️
Champagne is also associated with engagement and it sounds like he was going to propose and no one supported it. Then she felt like she proved them all right when she left him.
"sometimes you gotta be the villain to be the hero in your own life" is so wise and my favorite part of the video. This song is more fictional than autobiographical, as far as we know, but I recommend Midnight Rain from Midnights as the next song. It's a similar situation off an album that was promoted as largely autobiographical. I love the reactions, hope you continue!!
I loved when he said that. That reminds me of a similar quote, “You remain the hero of your own story, even when you become the villain of someone else's".
I really hope people would just stop connecting her songs to real people. She's a songwriter and she HAS to write things bit more dramatical and exaggerate some things. But she can't even go off on a track without people bashing her.
She said that before, but at every concert now before she plays champagne problems she talks about how she needs to play it as catharsis for something she went through And Midnight Rain has basically been confirmed to be part 2 of Back to December about Taylor Lautner. Taylor Lautner and his wife have confirmed Back to December and hinted at Midnight Rain on their podcast
"sometimes you gotta be the villain to be the hero in your own life" is SUCH a good piece of wisdom and i loved y'all's reaction so much. seriously, can't stop smiling like a fool after watching y'all dance along to this.
one of my favourite things about this song is the fact that it says "till someone's on their KNEES." KNEES, plural. which means he's not on one knee, proposing, he's on his KNEES begging her not to leave him. makes that part hit so much harder and absolutely destroys me.
This song is not about herself, it’s from the Evermore album, which is a story telling album, so it’s a song written from the perspective of a girl who said no to her partner who proposed to her
have you heard the theory that she told us they were all made up stories but actually it is what she was going through with Joe? like he wanted to be married and she was hesitant? and this song describes her fears... Interesting to think about now that everything has transpired
Evermore is not purely an album about fictional characters as evidence by the song "Marjorie" which is about her Grandmother. She has cited this is a fictional song but I feel like this is based on a relationship she had.
KEEPING THE SWIFTIES FEDDDDD ♥️ My personal interpretation on this is that she's taking what's meant to be "rich people problems" and twisting it to mean, the problems surrounding this celebration of a proposal and also her mental health. She jokes that her dorm was made for her because it was once a madhouse, and later people say "what a shame she's fucked in the head". Champagne sounds like "sham pain", as in the sort of denigration and stigma surrounding poor mental health. So like, she feels like everyone else does about this rejection - that she's messed in the head for refusing to take what seems to be a loving relationship any further. She can't even give a reason for why she doesn't want to, she just knows it's the right decision. So she says "hey, you'll find someone better, real love, and you won't remember this or all the problems I caused you for reasons I cannot even explain to you"
I didn’t intrepret it that way. I think being rich and happy & even being let down by a beautiful person is still a “champagne problem” compared to other things going on in the world. Champagne means youre going to celebrate something, but there’s no celebration here. There is only mourning and a little self-pity that comes after every break-up; and self-pity can be seen as a “champagne problem”. But TS writes that it will get better for this person one day.
I love watching rap fans react to taylor cuz they always catch the lyrics and stories so quick. So many people get the mood right away but dont catch on till later or after other fans tell them, which is fine, but alot of rap fans could give a whole lesson on her lyrics after only one listen. ❤
Getaway car tells an amazing story, the last great American dynasty is an amazing story aswell and it has nothing to do with her love life.. this girl wrote a song about her house and it’s history 😮💨 invisible string is really good it’s about all the coincidences that came before she met her then boyfriend Joe Alwyn, no body no crime goes CRAZY amazing story and crazy plot line.. really hard to choose but these are some of her best song lyrically aside from the ones y’all have already touched on. Beautiful songs 😮💨
You have incredible taste. I’m just getting back into Taylor Swift’s music and I often go through comments for suggestions too. Her discography is intense.
This has made my night!! Folklore and Evermore were heavily fictional albums. She actually wrote this song with her long-term (now ex, sadly) boyfriend, Joe Alwyn. You should try Tolerate It or Happiness from Evermore, too!
This song has such a sad meaning. When looking at the lyrics Taylor describes a couple that meet up one day. One has brought a ring insinuating they want to marry the other, whilst the other arrives intending to end the relationship. My favourite little comment is “knees” instead of “knee” it implies that the person proposing is on both knees begging the other to accept which is just a heartbreaking depiction in my opinion. Plus “Midas” is a mythological king that ended up dying due to his greed as everything he touches turned to gold so he ended up starving as he was unable to eat. She is basically saying that for one the relationship was fruitful and and rewarding (the person with the ring) whilst for the other it didn’t feel enough they were starving in the relationship. An interesting idea and lesson that a relationship will never work if one person in it feels as thought they need more.
Taylor has 2 storytelling albums: Folklore and Evermore. These albums for the large part aren't about her life, they're songs she wrote in the perspective of other people or characters that inspired her. Either from books she read or movies she watched or just friends' anecdotes, whatever inspired her to write, she used towards songwriting.
i recommend you listen to this 3 songs in the folklore album which is related to each other. The songs are Betty, August, Cardigan So there are three people involved in this who is sort of in a love triangle. James who is in a relationship with Betty but he cheated with her. August was the other girl he cheated on with Betty. So the songs: Betty was James’ perspective August was Augustine’s Perspective Cardigan was Betty’s Perspective
The phrase "champagne problems" here have many different meanings all at once. Yes, champagne problems are usually "rich people problems" but it is also used here for describing problems that people find insignificant and trivial, so that is why she keeps saying that after every sentence. So his hometown sceptics also finds all their problems insignificant and not really problems at all. Champagne problems also can mean literal alcohol problems, so she hints the female charachter might have problems with that and her mental health (hence "Madhouse, it´s made for me") That is also why he won´t remember all her champagne problems, both "insignificant" problems and mental. This is a fictional story btw.
This song was cowritten by her now ex boyfriend of almost 7 years Joe Alwyn. They loved listening to sad breakup songs and they created this masterpiece together. He also wrote the piano in the beginning as well. Watching her sing this at the Eras Tour was heartwrenching as its taking on a whole new meaning i think for her. You could feel and see the pain in her face and voice. They actually cowrote several songs together on i think 3 albums. He is listed as William Bowery. Its a beautiful song. She is so incredibly talented. I truly enjoy watching, hearing your reactions to her music. Great job as always guys!
Her songs Maroon and Midnight Rain off of her latest album are great pieces of storytelling and have some serious bars. If you liked Champagne Problems, you will love both of these!
Worth noting the plural “knees” in the bridge because it means not only was the person proposing to the narrator but he was begging her to stay with him and she still refused. So subtle but I love the depth it adds!
'Sometimes you just don't know the answer till someone's on their knees and asks you.' Usually you propose on one knee, but he was on his knees because he was begging her. The title is such an irony, because for them her rejecting him felt like the end of the world, but for the town people it was just champagne problems (problems that, when compared to issues of poverty, natural disasters, and war, are not that big of a deal. It also usually refers to rich people, whose biggest problems are which champagne to choose). For those people her rejecting his proposal was not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, but for them it was everything.
She wrote this with her boyfriend Joe Alwyn at the time whom she dated for 7 years. He wrote the song with her under the pseudonym - William Bowery. Although it's never been talked about, I think this was his experience, where he proposed to a girl (before Taylor) who turned him down. So, Taylor put the story to music.
The comments for this song say that it’s about the story of someone who wanted to end the relationship (the girl) and one who brought a ring (the guy), so they both had very different expectations of how the night was going to go
Pleaseee react to the "I did something bad" performance on her Reputation tour, you really get to see another side to Taylor on that whole album and on the tour, and the message behind that entire album and the song is so powerfull and kinda sad with everything she had to go through in the year before she dropped the album.
there are several songs where she's the quote unquote villain. take 'back to december' or 'getaway car' or just the SEVERAL fictional songs in folklore and evermore about infidelity such as 'illicit affairs' or 'ivy'.
"sometimes you just don't know the answer 'till someone's on their knees and asks you" typically you propose on one knee, so the fact that he's on his knees, basically begging her, is so heartbreaking man
I love how you say her songs are like tv shows or movies! I highly recommend listening to Tis the Damn Season (this one is pretty much a christmas hallmark movie in 4 minutes and i LOVE it), Right Where You Left Me, Coney Island, The 1, Death by A Thousand Cuts, Cruel Summer, The Great War... And so many more but the above mentioned are some of my all time favorites, they are so beautifully written
The both of your reactions always make my day. If I can suggest: illicit affairs, mad woman, OR you're losing me, which I believe you can still find on TH-cam
Watching you unravel the story was so fun. And I love how you said you have to be the villain to be the hero in your own story. We will never know for sure if this song is really about her turning down a proposal from Joe, but either way she’s the hero of her story.
The comment that basically sometimes you have to be the villain in someone else's story to be the hero in yours hit me hard! I never thought of it that way when I've had to drop friends because it wasn't healthy for me even if it made me seem like a horrible person to them. Beautiful!
You should listen to a trilogy of songs that Taylor created for the folklore album. It is about a love triangle between 3 characters that she created (named betty, augustine and james), each song represents the pov of one of these characters. Basically betty and james were a couple, but then james cheated on betty with augustine during summer (they were highschoolers at the time), and then he regretted it. The first song is called "cardigan" and it is from betty's pov (the main girl), but years later as an adult. Singing about how the love betrayed her but she knew he would go back to her. The 2nd song is called "august" and it is from augustine's pov (the other chick) once she realized that what she thought was real love, was just a summer thing for him. And the third song is called "betty" and it is from James's pov (the boy) when he realized that he actually missed and wanted betty and that he had messed up, so he was trying to get her back. It would be awesome if you did a video for this 3 songs!
Yay, so glad you guys reacted to this! Soooo many good ones from Folklore and Evermore, but if you wanna change it up, I did something bad, and Don’t Blame live versions are amazing. Plus her singing Death by a thousand cuts in Paris is goosebumps!!!!
This song and also "Back to December" are songs where she accepts that she did a hurtful thing, even though she thought it was the best thing at the time.
Begging you to react to No Body, No Crime ft. Haim. It's probably one of her most well executed song, lyrically! It also kinda gives My Tears Ricochet (darker version) vibes
i always interpreted "champagne problems" as being less about wealth or status, but more in reference to how people celebrate good news or life events (such as an engagement) with champagne, but since she said no to the proposal the problems started (?) i might be wrong!!
Loving all your reactions. It's great watching you read the lyrics too and properly take in the reason people love taylor Swift, her songwriting! I would suggest the following songs to listen too: Right where you left me Getaway car Long live Exile Maroon You're loosing me Thanks for the great content!
I was trying to leave a comment underneath the "All Too Well" -Taylor Swift [Taylor's Version] reaction video, *The comments are off on THAT video. 😬* I wanted to explain that it is speculated that the "Red Scarf" is a metaphor for her Virginity. Hence the lyrics, " But You keep my old scarf from that very 1st week, 'cause it reminds you of INNOCENCE & it smells like me, You CAN'T GET RID OF IT, 'cause you remember... All too well." Also, the "crumbled up piece of paper lying here, 'cause I remember it all, all, all ..." Once you crumble up a piece of paper, it can never be uncrumbled, even if you try to lay it flat again, the piece of paper still shows all of the damage/wrinkles. I really HOPE that I helped make sense of it ALL (Too Well). Haha😄😬😊 Taylor is a TRUE POET. Sent With Love 💞, Katrina
i’ve been watching yall reaction to taylor lately and i love how you guys genuinely pay attention to it and don’t exaggerate them at all 🫶🏻 thats just how you enjoy musics anyway. keep up!! looking forward for more
This is a beautiful display of mixed signals. Anyone who prepares a surprise engagement should be ready for anything. (As a woman, I think it often occurs when someone wants additional pressure for one to say yes.) Not knowing your answer until it happens means it wasn’t meant to be. (At least at that point in time) She is truly gifted with reflecting the human condition. 😽💋🎶💕
I read on tw that Tay wrote this song about what happened with Rory and Logan in “Gilmore Girls”, and idk if that’s a fact, but the song fits perfectly with that… also… Taylor is known for finding inspiration in books and series too
This song has got to be one of my favourite songs on Evermore, (along with Happiness and Evermore ft. Bon Iver, which you guys should totally listen to 😂) Here is some more lore/background knowledge on the song: This song is completely fictional, along with most of Evermore and all of Folklore, these albums are really just Taylor telling us some gorgeous stories. This specific one depicts long-time college sweethearts, with them going one night to his parent's house with them both having different plans, one to end it and the other who brought a ring. His parents in celebration had already opened a bottle of champagne and started celebrating when she turned him down. Some have looked into the song and have found that the reason she would have ended the relationship is because the main girl had mental health issues, causing numerous issues throughout their relationship, hence the reason his family called her "f*cked in the head." At the end of the song the main girl tells how she wants him to find the real thing, fixing the things she broke in him throughout the relationship (“You’ll find the real thing instead, she’ll patch up the tapestry that I shred”) so yea just some background for you there lmao
This song was actually fictional but I'm glad you liked it! Other songs you can react to: 1. Betty, Cardigan, and August (it's a fictional trilogy told in 3 different POVs) 2. Last Great American Dynasty 3. Long Live
"RONAN" please react to it!!! Taylor wrote it after she found a mother's blog about her experience of having her 4-year-old son pass away after his battle with cancer. She wrote it for her and also performed it live at a Stand Up To Cancer event. I am pretty sure all the proceeds of the song go to cancer research and to a foundation they created in Ronan's name. Without a doubt makes me sob every time. (Also love yalls reactions)
when evermore came out, she was in a relationship with joe alwyn who is our beloved person (for swifties) he was also her longest relationship, she has written songs with him during quarantine on folklore evermore and midnights, she said that they love listening to sad songs and they have made some saddest songs together, so this song is was written by both her and joe and its about two people who had diff plans for the same night, he brought a ring and she went there to break up, this song isnt about her personal life. Its sad now that her and joe have broken up after 7 years so these songs just hurt even more bc of the fact that they wrote it together and these lyrics connect with her life now, yall should def checkout diff songs from evermore.
Joe alwyn, an indie British actor she was with for 6 years. She lived with him until beginning of 2023 in NYC. She said no to his proposal. Says the reason in another song
This might be my favorite song from her Evermore album. The songwriting is so good! ❤ Please react to No Body No Crime. I think you'll like it as well. Thank you! ❤
I relate to this song so hard because I too didn’t know the answer til someone was on their knees and asked me. Thankfully he is now happily married and I’m happy not being married 😊
Love, love, LOVE you guys reacting to Taylor. You're so dead on, please keep going thru her music with us. My faves to recommend: Back to December, exile, tolerate it, happyness - are more emotional hard hitters. Then go on to her fun stuff blank space, wildest dreamss, love story, mine. So many to pick from. I'd love to watch you guys react to them all. You guys are great.
This song isn’t actually about her personal life. During the pandemic she made 2 albums where she created fictional characters and did a lot of storytelling with her music. So anything from folklore and evermore are fictional and not about her personal life. This is one of my favorite songs by Taylor!!
love them just bopping to such a heartbreaking song, taylor’s really good at making you want to dance while crying 😭

it's such a bop
She is the queen is sad bops…right where you left me is such a sad bop lol

@@pika77289 agreed!

"sometimes you just don't know the answer 'till someone's on their knees and asks you" typically you propose on one knee, so the fact that he's on his knees, basically begging her, is so heartbreaking man
And I love how Taylor switched up the chorus. In the beginning it was about the narrator, and in the end it’s about the other girl
I just found y’all but I am SO INVESTED!! I love watching y’all slowly become swifties 😂
'TIS THE DAMN SEASON next please 💓 (in my mind it's sort of like a sequel to Champagne Problems)
The comment that basically sometimes you have to be the villain in someone else's story to be the hero in yours hit me hard! I never thought of it that way when I've had to drop friends because it wasn't healthy for me even if it made me seem like a horrible person to them. Beautiful!
You guy should react to Ivy from this album. One of the most beautiful songs. Pure poetry.
Love watching your reactions! You are great at breaking the lyrics down!
Can we take a minute and appreciate how mature these two young men are?
Idk why I really enjoy watching ppl discover her and in the process I fall even deeper with them
“Crestfallen on the landing” is actually such a good line ooooof I could depict her songs forEVER.
This is why shes the greatest in our generation!!!best singer song writer ever.
illicit affairs next!! or august
Seconded for illicit affairs!! Oh my gosh, such an incredible song. Or Mad Woman
2163 views in one hour????? DAMN dudes you are a HIT!!!! Thanks for making my night! ❤ try ready for it
This is one of my absolute favorite tracks on Evermore. Thank you for reacting
This song and also "Back to December" are songs where she accepts that she did a hurtful thing, even though she thought it was the best thing at the time.
You guys should really react to "right where you left me" it's such a heartbreaking and beautiful song
obsessed with watching men react to taylor swift and hype her up
I LOVE that you rewind before you press play each time! ❤
Ashton went through it “damnnnn she said no” looks at camera “who’d she say no to” 😂🤣 I’m obsessed with you both!!!
Thank you for the video. I finally understand what this song is about.
Found you guys on tiktok and you are some of my favorite music reactors now
Begging you to react to No Body, No Crime ft. Haim. It's probably one of her most well executed song, lyrically! It also kinda gives My Tears Ricochet (darker version) vibes
please do more of these !!!!! we love your reactions !!! (illicit affairs is such a good song y'all should react too it)
I’ve been obsessed with “tolerate it” lately so that’s my suggestion for the next song to react to!
i always interpreted "champagne problems" as being less about wealth or status, but more in reference to how people celebrate good news or life events (such as an engagement) with champagne, but since she said no to the proposal the problems started (?) i might be wrong!!
Loving all your reactions. It's great watching you read the lyrics too and properly take in the reason people love taylor Swift, her songwriting! I would suggest the following songs to listen too:
Right where you left me
Getaway car
Long live
Exile
Maroon
You're loosing me
Thanks for the great content!
"sometimes you have to be the villain to be the hero in your own life". FACTS!!! Great work guys❤
One for the money, two for the show is part of a song by Elvis. Normally people are only on one knee to propose, but he was on his knees begging.
I love watching you two.
This is my favorite Taylor Swift song and watching you two enjoy the fuck out of this song has made my night thank you
it’s such a sad break up kind of song but it’s also the fact that she wrote that song with her then boyfriend of years too that makes it hit harder
All too well."
Also, the "crumbled up piece of paper lying here, 'cause I remember it all, all, all ..."
Once you crumble up a piece of paper, it can never be uncrumbled, even if you try to lay it flat again, the piece of paper still shows all of the damage/wrinkles.
I really HOPE that I helped make sense of it ALL (Too Well). Haha😄😬😊
Taylor is a TRUE POET.
Sent With Love 💞, Katrina
I recommend call it what you want next!
Every time I stand up for myself now, I'm going to hear you say that I have to be someone's villain to be my own hero.
NO BODY NO CRIME !!! you guys have too, i would love to your guys reaction
i’ve been watching yall reaction to taylor lately and i love how you guys genuinely pay attention to it and don’t exaggerate them at all 🫶🏻 thats just how you enjoy musics anyway. keep up!! looking forward for more
This is a beautiful display of mixed signals. 😽💋🎶💕
Sometime you got to be the villain to be the hero in your own life is TS worthy
"till someone's on their knees". People propose on one knee but beg on both
🥂 love this songgg!! Y’all’s reactions are amazing
I need you guys to react to the FOLKLORE trilogy : cardigan, betty and august! It will be so much fun putting pieces together
I read on tw that Tay wrote this song about what happened with Rory and Logan in “Gilmore Girls”, and idk if that’s a fact, but the song fits perfectly with that… also… Taylor is known for finding inspiration in books and series too
Never thought I'd get to one of these so early
I like it here
This song has got to be one of my favourite songs on Evermore, (along with Happiness and Evermore ft. Bon Iver, which you guys should totally listen to 😂)
Here is some more lore/background knowledge on the song:
This song is completely fictional, along with most of Evermore and all of Folklore, these albums are really just Taylor telling us some gorgeous stories.
This specific one depicts long-time college sweethearts, with them going one night to his parent's house with them both having different plans, one to end it and the other who brought a ring.
His parents in celebration had already opened a bottle of champagne and started celebrating when she turned him down. Some have looked into the song and have found that the reason she would have ended the relationship is because the main girl had mental health issues, causing numerous issues throughout their relationship, hence the reason his family called her "f*cked in the head." At the end of the song the main girl tells how she wants him to find the real thing, fixing the things she broke in him throughout the relationship (“You’ll find the real thing instead, she’ll patch up the tapestry that I shred”)
so yea just some background for you there lmao
They don't know that a lot of songs on Folklore and Evermore are stories she wrote, which makes it so much better!
Dawg this shit soo hard im bopping my head to this shi
This song was actually fictional but I'm glad you liked it! Other songs you can react to:
1. Betty, Cardigan, and August (it's a fictional trilogy told in 3 different POVs)
2. Last Great American Dynasty
3. Long Live
They definitely should react to Long Live, it's my personal favorite✨
NEEED MOOOOORE! 🫶🏻 so glad y’all are enjoying her - love watching y’all react to the lyrics for the first time. So good. Thank you!
I recommend listening to Right Where You Left Me next.
Y’all are making my heart feel very full 🩷
You guys are really breaking this down. I LOVE it !!
This song isn’t actually about her personal life. During the pandemic she made 2 albums where she created fictional characters and did a lot of storytelling with her music. So anything from folklore and evermore are fictional and not about her personal life. This is one of my favorite songs by Taylor!!
