i just find it cool to point out that the sound of taylor clearnig her throat in the beggining of Ready for It, the first track in reputation, is to symbolize someone who's about to speak up after a long time being silent. This is a direct reference of her context at that time, since she went out of public eye for a year before releasing that album because of the scalation of the kanye situation and everybody, including the mass media, deciding she was a bad person

She is talking about plans she has for hiding in islands, about running away with him. when she says "touch me and you'll never be alone", it's because she knows the guy is gonna be followed by paparazzi all the time. Never be alone. Always hiding, always running, and she's asking if he's ready to deal with this.

Btw, Ed Sheeran's part in End Game is about the time he met up with an old childhood friend, Cherry Seaborn at one of Taylor's Fourth of July parties whom he later went on to marry and have two kids with.
In Dress, when Taylor says, "flashback when you met me, your buzzcut and my hair bleached" she's talking about the first time her and Joe Alwyn met at the Met Gala in 2016. You can look up pics of them from that time and see the hairstyles she's referring to. He had just finished a film where he played a soldier and she had just done a photo shoot with Vogue where they cut and bleached her hair.

Reputation is the REAL love album. It's all about how when she met Joe her rep was so bad but she was ready to be with him no matter what, and he was able to see her for who she really is. This album was her liberation from all the shit that was being said about her, and in the end Taylor just getting her power back.
I almost screamed when you said listening to “Ready For It” while walking outside makes you feel like a main character because YES, that’s exactly how I feel LOL. As an introvert with so much social anxiety - this song helps me get out of the house and walk confidently in a crowd. ❤❤❤😅

I love how Taylor says smth in the beginning of the song to make you think, uses beautiful lyrics to explain what she means, then says it again at the end now that you understand it. She a lyrical genius
Reputation is definitely my favorite album! She openly reflects on her mistakes and past in this album, and acknowledges it with self awareness! And it's also super spicy!
here's what taylor said ab ready for it: "It kind of introduces a metaphor you may hear more of throughout the rest album, which is like this kind of Crime and Punishment metaphor, where it talks about robbers, and thieves, and heists, and all that. I found that to be a really interesting metaphor, but twisted in different ways throughout the album. The way that’s presented in ‘…Ready For It?’ is basically, finding your partner in crime, and it’s like ‘Oh my god we’re the same, we’re the same, oh my god! Let’s rob banks together, this is great!’ And you will hear that kind of theme carried on throughout the rest of the record, but not exactly in the same way that you heard in ‘…Ready For It?’"

You need to understand the context surrounding the Reputation album to fully understand the track Ready For It. In 2016 her public feud with Kanye blew up, surrounding the song "Famous" that explicitly states "I made that bitch famous" in reference to Taylor. When very clearly upset about this situation, Kim K released footage of the phone call that occurred between West and Swift before the release of Famous. This call's footage and audio were edited to make it appear as though West had informed Swift of the lyrics in his song, and that she was on board (none of which occurred). This controversy TANKED Taylor's public perception and she was flooded with hate and statements calling her a 'snake' across the internet. Swift then disappeared from public view for almost an entire year, not being seen in public, by paparazzi, or fans anywhere. Then, one day in August of 2017, Swift deleted every single photo from her instagram and wiped her profile of everything but her name and posted a singular video of a lunging snake. She then dropped the lead single off of the Reputation album "Look What You Made Me Do". Ready For It, being the very first track on the album is about finally facing the lies, allegations, and rumors that have drowned her career and reputation for the last year. When she sings "baby let the games begin", she is referencing to the foul-played feud with the West's and Kardashian's. When she is talking about her lover in the song, she is speaking of Joe Alwyn, a British actor who got with Swift right before the controversy and stuck by her side throughout it. The couple separated in early 2023.
It would be son interesting to see you guys reacting to her first album after this, seeing that difference in her voice. You guys are doing the entire swiftie clan proud and i love that you guys are really inputing your understanding to it. It's actually pretty spot on so far!

I feel like ending the first song with "are you ready for it?" on her comeback album, after all that hate, is a killer move. It can have multiple meanings from where you're looking at it, but like, are you ready for what's about to come?, are you ready for the comeback? Which makes it perfect for the tour as well, because she's asking us "are you ready for it?" = she will slaughter. Def a min character energy song.

To me Ready for it describes taylor as she's getting back to dating as a 'serial dater'. Except, this time the relationship will be different. Not just a fling, and she can feel it. This song is her warning her lover about her reputation and at the same time confessing that ths time it's not going to be that kind of a relationship.
Ready for it prepares us for the rest of the album, which was a completely different style musically compared to her previous ones. At the same time, it tells us that this is not a breakup album. It's a head over heels one. A relationship where she's so afraid of the person leaving her due to her reputation, where she's been humbled by the way people viewed her as a snake and so someone liking her even with this image must be feeling something special.

Most of the reputation album including ready for it?, endgame and dress are about her ex boyfriend Joe Alwyn. They were together for more than 6 years (broke up a couple of months ago). They fell in love when she had been cancelled by the media and her reputation was ruined. It’s an amazing story.

Just as a background for u guys to better understand this album. Kanye west had made the song famous and included lyrics that Taylor didn’t like and that he didn’t mention to her. She later said online I never heard or approved of this lyric, and then Kim released a secretly recorded phone call which she edited to make it sound like Taylor knew the song and she is just trying to act like the victim(the phone call was later released and ts wasn’t lying about certain lyric not being told to her) and then Kim was calling her a snake which caused everyone to bully her online. She later went off the internet for three years, then came back with this album reputation.
