Dude Person + you probably weren't on the path of totality because some states didn't see it but the next one will be in 7 years so try traveling to Wyoming

Dude Person The path of totality went from Oregon to South Carolina. New Jersey isn't in-between those two states.

I was in NJ as well, the day did dimmed a bit, with a weird halo around the sun cast on the clouds. But unfortunately.. the clouds, nothing too obvious happened.
