Edit: The Last of Us standalone multiplayer has been cancelled. Another victim of making everything an awful live service game. What a healthy and perfectly normal industry. Original Comment: Apologies if certain sections sound weird. I developed a cold (and yes, it's just a cold(EDIT: NOPE TURNS OUT IT'S COVID GODDAMMIT)) towards the end of making this. Currently drowning in those hot lemon medicine drinks. Hope you all like the video! After Iron Lung blew up I was nervous about what to do next as people might want just more horror games forever. There will be more in the future, but I do like all sorts of different genres. More videos to come, and hopefully not too far away... illness depending.
Sorry to hear about the COVID! I hope you fully recover with zero side effects. I’ve had too many friends and family members develop long-haul issues, and I’d hate to see anyone else be saddled with them.
I geniuly didn't know this game had a multiplayer until the first remaster came out. And, from what I heard, I'm surprised the sequel to this day doesn't have a multiplayer at this time. Especially when the whole story includes two very obvious factions (Scars and Wolves)
I hope you’ll be glad to hear that Factions 2 seems to have been in development at Naughty Dog for a very long time, from what’s been leaked. Most signs point towards it being *way* more ambitious than the first Factions, too.
@@serch3ster With PlayStation investing more in live service games, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised by that kinda move. Multiplayer games with paid cosmetics ‘n’ such’ll always benefit from crossplay, no matter how resistant they were to it last gen.
@@serch3ster and have cheaters/hackers ruining the experience? Yeah no. I do agree cross play is great to keep a game alive and running but factions is still going strong being only on ps4/5. Factions has enough wall shooter cheaters, we don’t need straight up hackers as well
I think that the sequel lacked multiplayer for two reasons. First, Part II makes a very conscious attempt to “degamify” the conflict between characters, with AI enemies literally begging for their lives when the last one in a group is still alive, so a multiplayer focusing on WLF vs Seraphites would be in very poor taste from a tonal and narrative standpoint. Second, Sony is trying to push live-service games to accompany their single player experiences so creating a massively expanded Factions game and bundling it with the new PS Plus Extra and Premium could do very well for them.
Spent my whole teenage years playing this. I’m still surprised no one talked about it back then. This and Max Payne 3 multiplayer had their issues but the fun still heavily outweighed the problems.
Hundreds of hours of fun for me. I remember my go-to kit being pistol only silenced executioner w/ covert 3. always going for that flank and shiv kill. ;) that or the hunting rifle + revolver quick switch 2 shot down wombo combo
Some of the best moments in factions were the ones where it was 1 v 4 and the other team has way more lives. I was able to clutch a TD game by holding out in that one room in university. Basically went bunker mode and was able to win with the shotgun, molotovs, and bombs. Good times.
@@internetspectator6051 Yeah it's alright. At most, you can change stuff like caps/hats or masks. Then there's emotes you can choose from as well as a player icon that you can make. Nothing mind blowing though.
This mp does better stealth than any other mp game. Also there’s no dodge button but the way movement is designed on the analog you can preform some dodges that are so rewarding when you master them. No need for gadgets just pure skill. You can really create your own style in this game.
@@Vizible21as someone who has played a ton of mp games factions is 100% one of the most tactical and difficult to learn. It’s up there with r6. any skilled player at this game knows how difficult it is as you have to adjust the way you play depending on the opposing team
I need factions 2 desperately. Factions was so freaking fun, really unique experience

Still is bro... still is. I can play a game here or there in the PS5, but it's Last of Us Factions that I light up the moment that the previous game is finished.
I remember having a lot of fun pvp’ing but the matchmaking was always imbalanced. It didn’t help when higher leveled players just had more traps unlocked and options to engage than newer players
@@MisterBolticus On the PS3 you had to unlock most of the equipment but on the PS4 everything that isn't microtransactions is available to the player (except all cosmetic items which are unlockable). So a beginner has the same tools as someone who played 70k+ games.
@@salt-upon-wounds9909 No that was something that was done in one of the very last, if not the last update, on release and for many years, you had to level up like the ps3 version. I only really remember because when I occasionally played on an alt account, my loadouts were mad restricted until I grinded a little.
Whenever Factions 2 finally drops, I fully expect it to be a tremendous hit on a level that fans of the first Factions could only dream of. I personally think it was super smart of Naughty Dog to separate it from the main game because of that, too - it’s obvious that most people experience a level of “The Last of Us fatigue” once they’ve completed the stories to these for the first time, so dropping the second game’s ~25 hour campaign with the multiplayer already included probably would’ve been equally as bad for Factions 2 as it was for the first Factions in the long run.
True! And maybe it just wasn't quite ready yet. I respect when video game companies take the time to make sure they're releasing quality instead of rushing!
It was NOT smart for them to split it…. If anything it would’ve helped with last of us 2 sales… because it would’ve been perfect and amazing MP keeping the game alive and sales up. The only good thing about lou2 was the gameplay… it could’ve been like modern warfare 2 or one of those titles where people buy it mainly for the MP
@@Puppy_Puppington the game sold very well. a multiplayer mode would've made little difference. what makes more money, *maybe* a 10% increase in copies sold for tlou2 because of a multiplayer mode, or an entirely separate game that is guaranteed to sell millions of units? on top of that its better for the players because allowing the devs a couple extra years to make factions two without having to worry about the singleplayer almost GUARANTEES a greater quantity and quality of content. don't be stupid just because you don't like tlou2's story. it's been two years. get over it.
I like the niche playerbase we have. The Last of Us Factions multiplayer still has an extremely active player base to this day, and I have made it my life game at this point, since 2014. For me, the main draw to this experience is that of the ability to play in the beautiful and moody world of The Last of Us, which in a way draws me to keep playing it due to that warm nostalgia factor. Genuinely, the art style of The Last of Us is enough to make this mode my life game. But aside from that, the gameplay itself is just excellent and so addictive to play - utmost satisfying; the best part is, it is pretty easy to get into, and over time you juet get better and better once you understand the flow of the combat and tactics. Really, it is just a better and more fictionally distinctive version of Rainbow Six Siege; tactically based, and addictive combat to go alongside it at that. I am glad Part II doesn't have a multiplayer mode, as it would mean the original multiplayer mode would sadly soon be abandoned.
Thank you for bringing light to this games multi-player. This games multi-player community was amazing, I always loved seeing uploads from Valkyrie 887 and even Nick eh 30

The thing I've enjoyed about factions more than other mp gamemodes is that (most) abilities arent locked behind progression. If you wanna be a healer, you can add medical skills, if you wanna be a hunter, you can add skills that reduce recoil. Stuff like that.
Power Pak has made a banger video here, but in the end I wouldn’t recommend Factions contrary to all the positivity seen. Not only will you see the Tactical FAR more than you think, *but there is a highly rampant cheating problem that has only gotten worse since this video’s release.* People need to stop turning a blind eye to “crabwalking,” it’s a genuinely game breaking exploit that allows you to crouch walk at max sprint speed with no stamina limitations, bypassing Listen Mode with Covert and allowing insanely unintended plays. Because it’s easier than wall glitching and wall shooting, it’s common enough that you may even find yourself with a teammate who does it. Streamers on this game are also getting away with doing it just because they’ve had a history of being good without it, creating the illusion that it somehow can still be justified, especially since it isn’t “as bad as wall shooting.” If you still want to get Factions, great. Non-cheater matches are a blast, it’s why there’s still many people, but as the matchmaking gradually decides you’re more experienced as you play, don’t say I did not warn you.
everybody also runs covert so listen mode is constantly rendered useless. call of duty’s obsession with dead silence/ninja crawled over to a stealth game lol
Reminds me of another third person shooter mostly known for its single player campaign that has a robust and amazing team-based multiplayer side mode that still sees play. I’m talking about kid Icarus: uprising for the 3DS That game’s a banger
The best thing about this multiplayer is the fact you have to work as a team. I absolutely love that. Reviving teammates healing teammates gifting items too teammates. Working together to kill the enemies and the challenges the game throws at you like heal 10 teammates get 6 downs with the revolver. And the fact you have a clan to maintain and if you fail at the challenges you clan will die. Makes every in game week challenging but in a good way it makes you better at the multiplayer.
Yep. What I enjoyed most. When you got in a team that understood how to the play the game and you didn't have some moron running off to be killed over and over? It took it to another level. Without doubt the best online experience I've had gaming when it works.
My favorite multiplayer experience ever was this. Totally brutal, spent hundreds of hours in it. The satisfaction when i first hit 300 survivors in that base system was immense.
I was 9 years old when this came out and i remember watching my dad play this in our 'gaming room' and finding it really interesting with being able to craft in a fast paced multiplayer (considering i was a cod kid) core memory from when my dad was getting me into games.
I remember goofing around with friends at full parties, playing hide&seek or just doing 3v3/4v4 matches altogether, we had rules like no throwables or tactical shotgun, such great times. We were all really good at the game as well
While I loved the concept of how the multiplayer is in this, I swear the skill balance was a joke. 5 times in a row I would be paired against 100+ higher levels, meanwhile I get stuck with people that barely just started the game.
Yeah that's the only thing that needs fixing. Same when you're paired with 100+ level people against newbies, you'll barely get any kills yourself because the teammates will do all the killing.
yeah, it can get really disheartening. That's why I immediately left after getting the MP trophy for it...it was a struggle. It's the same way with any MP game I guess, but it was the first MP for me in in dealing with nearly constant defeat. R6 is the same way in the present but somehow it doesn't bother me as much (I think the balancing is probably a bit better in R6 as well with regards to skill level so it's less depressing, haha).
not only this, but all the paid stuff are so annoying The only naughty dog games I liked the MP was Uncharted 2 and 3, there wasn't so much paid perks and bullshit also the character feels clunky asf As soon I got the mp trophies for my plat trophy I left this and never came back
I've been saying this for years now, thank you for making this video. The Last of Us Factions multiplayer still has an extremely active player base to this day, and I have made it my life game at this point, since 2014. I used to play this game religiously in 2016 until I got Overwatch at the end of the year. Man, being the last person against a full team with respawns, I had never had such an adrenaline rush in a game like this, and after doing 1vs(X) videos and a montage it kickstarted my side hobby in video editing! This game holds a special place in my heart and I hope TLOU2 comes with Factions soon.
For me this is the most underrated multiplayer mode ever created for a single player game. Still hoping we get a another one for the second game with the improved combat animations and dodging.
Y'all can't even understand why I love factions MP. The respawns for the other team are tied to where your team isn't, this means you always roughly know where they are. there are spots on every map where you can start combat in 4 seconds. This game had it all when it comes to what a good multiplayer game should have. it has long range, mid range and close range builds that are all on a knifes edge of being over powered if your smart enough. An example of this would be a plank build. Run fast, get two boxes of double loot. Craft a plank with nails that can 1 tap twice, and rush anyone that's sneaking or in a building. All the animations in the game follow the same fluid motions, from ducking to shooting above cover. that means you put every player in this world box with a handful of animations that can be memorized to your advantage, this means a sniper always knows where your head will be if you pop out of cover, or how high your head will be if your crouching or running. Seems broken till you realize only a handful of people know this. Sniper builds that any damage will mark players around them, meaning on maps like the dam you can jump on the car and down the whole team before 10 seconds into the game. It's just insane how much depth they gave this game on accident. Sad part to this is that I'm confident they don't know what they did right. Minimum effort with passion lead to this having depth and a style that I haven't been able to find in another game, and one I don't think will be done right again. Great video : )
Its free with ps plus that’s how i got it. I absolutely love TLOU series i can’t wait for the 3rd hope that has multiplayer because 2 didn’t.. weirdly enough.
@@JoeyBK_86 a standalone multiplayer is in development, it was meant to be part of tlou2 but the project got much bigger than the expected. So, don't worry, this might take awhile but we'll gonna get a bigger and better tlou mp soon
@@mateuslira3411 We never know. It might turn out worse (that's what happened with the UC4 multiplayer when compared to the OGs). TLOU:R is still worth it for the MP
I appreciate the MGS music alongside of this video because this gameplay does remind me of subsistence and MGO2, considering how detailed and complex the gameplay is.
Playing factions for years and never got bored. Every match is different and unique, you always learn new things and new tactics and new spots, shooting system is so satisfying as well as the stealth system. Great game.
honestly one of the best, most addicting multiplayers i've ever played. Really hope factions 2 can hold up to it, wouldnt be that hard anyway, just add a horde survival mode and better skill based matchmaking
Back when I was younger me and my friends would get a full 8 man lobby going so we could do private skirmish matches together. Some of the most fun I had playing this game.
I basically only played survivors as I felt it fit my playstyle and I was worried about getting wrecked in supply raid as I thought it'd be more aggressive. Also fits the vibe of TLOU better
Supply is pretty much just for getting used to the gunplay and how to use/throw craftables while not suffering too much from dying thanks to respawns and a relatively brief timer between Waves; not like waiting a round in R6Siege, but enough to make a couple tweaks to your kit or outright pick a new one. Especially if you care about the meta-game, as only Surivor grants a subsisting amount for losses so long as you still tried hard.
Been playing this game for so long, even have some clips on my channel. This game just feels so fulfilling, finally getting a deserved kill after sneaking around the whole map avoiding planted bombs. hitting an awesome headshot with the hunting rifle. Saving for your purchasable weapon and then destroying their team with it. Just sooo good. I’ve been on a hunting rifle + revolver phase for many years now lool (maybe it’s not just a phase) I remember I used to use the automatic rifle and the burst pistol as my main class and someone called me out for being bad cuz I could only get kills with auto weapons, so I switched to variable rifle and revolver and never went back, eventually switched to hunting rifle and boom I’ve never changed since 😂
Something really neat that you may end up mentioning in the video, almost all weapons have optimal trigger timing/fire rates and they change dependant on the upgrade level of the weapon. The 9mm can be the best gun in the game in the hands of the right player but if you rush your shot you might die as a result, such an amazing little mechanic that very much adds to the skill ceiling of the game. I wish they'd taken it a step further and added a penalty of potentially jamming your gun if you're hitting optimal timings and mess it up, though it being an essentially hidden mechanic, I can see why they didn't. If my explanation didn't make sense the TL;DR is you can fire semi-autos A LOT faster than you'd think, if you time the shots correctly.
My favorite about the factions were always the badass one liners they had. Like placing bombs, or burning someone alive. Really just made me feel badass aging this, lmao
I really love tlou's loadout system. Uncharted 4 has it too, I love the trade-off of giving up a main weapon for some more utility perks in particular. So simple yet so fun.
I got really good at this MP. You could practice the unique movement to the point that you could switch cover and roll over tables and stuff in a way that makes you really hard to hit in certain areas. Making decisions about where to go, what to spend scrap on, and all that. This multiplayer is extremely underrated and I'm glad to see it getting some love
I LOVED TLOU and Uncharted multiplayer, but especially TLOU. The crafting, the gameplay, the intense moments, the sneaky moments. So fun, glad to see it getting some recognition
My best memory of this amazing multiplayer game is that one time I was losing on supply raid my team were playing really bad so I started saving up ammo Molotovs and bombs to prepare for the comeback so I chose my sweaty VP class the score was 1_20 so basically it was me versus 20 on university so I pulled a merical and won and at the end of the game they went crazy and surprisengly they actually applaud me and said well played and that was the craziest comeback I've ever done it was the best memory from my favorite multiplayer.
i played the shit out of this on the ps3, and then ps4. one of, if not my favorite multiplayer experiences ever. using a smoke bomb class where you couldn’t stun yourself was so cheap yet so fun, you could run up, stun an enemy and get a free shiv
i disagree with you about some of the things you’ve mentioned in this video but when you mentioned the golf club at the end of the video i was so proud of you 😂😂😂 imagine the funny moments that we can make outta of it ? a full team of abby’s playing with a golf club ? that would be hilarious 😂
This truly was one of, if not the most unique multiplayer experience ever created. I really hope they bring this back in The Last of Us Part 1 at some point after it comes out for PC. I had so much fun playing this over the years.
The point about all the stuff in modern multiplayer games really hits home. A year after watching Sseth's review on Space Station 13, I had recently gotten into it to discover probably the most enjoyable and compelling multiplayer experience I had ever played. The game being 18 years old and free, the design was old and there is technically no point to the game besides having fun. On the contrary, I've grown tired of keeping up with multiplayer FPS titles to keep FOMO cosmetics. I thoroughly enjoyed the video (I had just come from your Iron Lung video) and I will probably watch more, keep it up!
The fact that this game came out so long ago and still has as active a multiplayer is truly speacial. Anybody else reach lvl 999? it took me over 4 years.
Recently I thought about it that it is a pity that no one has made a video etude about these old games from 2008-2015, which for unknown reasons ALWAYS had multiplayer. For example, Tomb raider, Bioshock 2, Far cry, Arkham origins. Now the publishers quite strongly separate the singles and multi games because firstly money and secondly a separate audience, but I still have good memories of that time. As for the video, as I mentioned at the beginning, a good start for etudes on this topic :**
man i loved the shit outta this game mode, i remember being so upset i had no one to play it with, and that there's never been more effort or attention put into a sequel of it.
4:47 the man's was prolly seeing you in the crafting for too long and thought to himself "oh no, he's about to make that medkit, better help him out with that shiv of mine." Many friendly people out in the Factions MP there are yes yes.
I remember years ago I got every trophy in this game *EXCEPT* for the one you get for completing the Hunters' journey in multiplayer. I just eventually got bored. I think this will inspire me to finally go back and finish the multiplayer after all this time and get that platinum trophy.
I’ve been playing the Last of Us! I beat part 2 first funny enough (I had seen a play through a few years ago when it released, wanted to do that first) and am now playing the first part. It’s so much fun!
Factions was such a refreshing experience, back when it came out there wasn't quite anything like it, back then cod and battlefield type of multi-player was the rule, you spawn with 240 rounds, every resource you can and you don't expect to be alive for longer than 2 minutes, factions was so different, it was tactical, you had to watch your shots and be smart about your positioning, lay traps, bait in your enemies, it was very amazing and to this day I haven't played anything like that again.
I loved this multiplayer back when I was still playing it in PS3.. I love making a smoke bomb (smoke bomb won't affect you when it explodes in your face and it's almost an impact grenade) + stealth loadout (Faster and quieter crouch movement) together with a quick execution and crafting of Shiv to annoy the hell out of people. I loved the pump action shotgun power weapon and the Silenced pistol, although it takes 5 shots to down em with it, it was quicker than the revolver. I also love throwing the nail bombs, the fact that the fuse starts when it hits a surface, you can do some crazy throws with it. Tried using the Burst rifle, 2 bursts is enough to down someone but I couldn't get a hang of it lol.
I'm willing to bet the item disappearing glitch ( which I haven't encountered, to my knowledge) is related to your teammates nearby also opening their own boxes If I had to guess, the instanced items are conflicting and one of them had to go, or maybe the game thinks they got your items
Most underrated multiplayer game of all time imo. I love this game bc the stealth/lone wolf aspect you can get that feels more real then the run and gun shooters so popular today. It feels as if the action truly is real and reactive. Going behind enemies, setting traps, getting spotted, impromptu fist fights. All of it. Then the game modes where death feels as if it matters with a pool of lives set for the whole team. Nothing feels better in gaming then being last man alive with waves of actual players coming at you and you pick them off one by one until 0 and your team wins. That truly is a great gaming experience imo
I remember playing the Factions for a little while before the Sequel came out, had a lot of fun with it, definitely want to go back and play to get the final achievements for completing the Journey on the Firefly and Hunter Journey.
Your review is informative and is also entertaining. I wish I have a console or a computer that can run games like this. Edit: I am reminded of Killzone liberation on PSP. Where you can also deploy your own traps in the match, and use a variety of weapons to take out the enemy team. There is melee button and you can perform your own "executes" as long as you are permitted by the weapon type you have (handguns does not knockout enemies)
Cosmetics do actually play a role in gameplay Bright colored hat? Easy to spot Big hat? Can clip through walls and cover, exposing you The executions? Some of them are actually faster than the base game animations, therefore giving you more parts and killing you slightly faster
Though it really is not the same "Hood: outlaw & legends" is pretty similar to TLOU, plus it has the huge benefit of no one being able to shoot you through walls.
I found this channel from your Iron Lung video and I am so happy that I did, your content is not only super interesting but also very very well made. Keep up the great work, I cant wait to see what you come up with next.
i remember watching a load of this when the game first came out, because i was so excited to play the singlleplaer but didnt want spoilers ffor the story. loved it when i finaly did get hold of the game (after my friend finished it and lent me his disc)
You're by far one of my favorite TH-camrs I've recently come across. Your comedic timing is second to none, especially with that golf joke at the end, and I patiently await your next video
Such a slept on mp. Unfortunately literally nobody I know talks about it. You know it’s good when you can still get a match in seconds about a decade later.
Finally got around to finishing the vid, and I’ve gotta say - in regards to the second Factions’ monetization, I’m 100% anticipating PlayStation to challenge Xbox’s new approach to “ethical first-party monetization”, as seen with Halo Infinite’s “FOMO-free” battle pass system. But, since they’re in no rush to drop this game, I imagine it’ll release as a fairly polished experience with a steady trickle of seasonal content lined up. Whether or not that’ll work out for them, I dunno - but, it’s what I figure we should expect from it. Anything else is gonna be worse lol
It's 2015 your on the ps4 on high-school it's a 1v12 LMS situation and somehow manage to get it down to a 1v2 situation the last 30sec you spot the last two by bus, knock one and you have 10sec left 6 rounds left in your 9mm you hit 5shots and have to get a lucky punch in to win your long awaiting victory and they have a 2x4 waiting in there back pocket that you didn't see until you got close and it's all over you lost... aaaaa nostalgia at its highest ( love the comebacks in this game)
I know it's naive to recommend what to do next to youtube channels but I at the very least felt like I'm obligated to post in a video about "long running multiplayer games" to mention Titanfall 2's online community. If my post isn't to engage you to make a video then at least for yourself I urge you to check it out because it's dying at this very moment due to hackers and the lack of attention Respawn is giving it because of Apex. Right now you need a 3rd party client mod just to play Multiplayer and it's still to this day one of the best Multiplayer gameplay experiences I've ever had. And its community is genuinely nice and wholesome in my experience. But as dedicated as the community is it's hard to get a large amount of people when you need to install 3rd party clients just to get the multiplayer to work for the base game, so now it's sort of falling apart, and it hurts. At the very least I'm letting you (and anybody else) know that if you're even partially into games like Titanfall 2 even remotely then now might be your last chance to experience it as things aren't looking good in the long term.
I love Titanfall 2, and honestly it is the absolute tragic mess that it's in that puts me off from playing. Needing a 3rd party client feels very 2012-multiplayer-mod, but I'm glad to community is still going despite everything. It's more than unacceptable that it and the first game are still being sold despite these issues. I might dive back into the fray in the future. We'll see.
@@PowerPakGamesActually Titanfall 1 was taken down March 1st of this year and you can only play it multiplayer if you owned the game before then. But at the same time this convinced a lot of people to hack Titanfall 2 in retaliation which actually did a lot because of how poor and old Titanfall 2's engine was. So yea it's even more disrespectful than you would like to think as Titanfall 2 is a victim from both sides. "feels very 2012-multiplayer-mod" probably sums up my interests perfectly since I still try and run Battlefield 2142 on custom clients to this day so I guess I'm just more used to doing this. Absolutely fair to not want to go back to those days I understand. The issues genuinely can weigh down the experience. Mainly with waiting for servers to be halfway full and then getting absolutely destroyed by the experienced players who have been playing for more than a decade. In Titanfall 2 it's much better and there are some servers open at all times. If you want a certain game mode that isn't popular than good luck. Either way I felt like posting about Titanfall 2 because I think in the end we agree on the same thing. That a unique multplayer for a game (despite its age) should be more celebrated and made aware of because there's nothing else "quite" like it or even close in many ways. As an addendum Titanfall 2's community has always been so nice to me over the years. Something I will miss most of all if/when the game's multiplayer finally goes for good.
I'm going to be honest I still can't look at the last of us without thinking of The last of Us part 2. It really kind of tainted the game for me, but I'm not gonna let that stop me from playing the last one!
I have some of the best memories from this game, the clutches with only the enforcer, those moments when there's explosions and smoke everywhere and you have no idea what is happening, saving a teammate from getting killed by blocking the enemy from sprinting towards them, but there's one that always stayed with me I was playing against a team that was only using the assault shotgun (that broken shotgun that is a standard weapon that can 2 shot you from short and medium distance and fires quiet fast) and the burst rifle, and also the special shotgun, I was using the spectre because I had enough of them and one of the guys messaged me because apparently I was "bad" by using that machine gun (he was using both shotguns) Next match started, new players came to his team that were playing fair, except for him, I was using the suppressed enforcer and the machete, I was constantly hunting them down and using the shiv on them, I think I killed that guy around 4-6 times, he was clearly pissed off, so once he spotted me, he had the special shotgun with 6 shells, the dude literally spammed that shotgun to try to kill me, he managed to put me down but didn't execute me, thing is, he ran towards me to execute me like in pure rage mode, and he got shot by my teammates that were around the corner before he could even get close to me, then he proceed to rage quit while he was being executed He didn't dare to message me after that
it's by far one of the best multiplayers at all. I was really surprised the first time I played it and still love to go back and play or watch streamers play it
I adored the multiplayer for this back in the day, I always loved the blood pooling on shirts. Really makes your attacks feel more impactful. One of the few really cool stealth PVP games I've played.
I guess this makes me feel a little better about trying out factions, I’m probably going to die a bunch but I’ll try and remember what I saw in this video and hopefully will keep play factions until factions 2 comes out.
Easy fix for the progression? Have it be that you can still gain supplies after the match, but have winning be a *multiplier* for it; if you lose, you just get the same amount of supplies you’ve collected during the match. Heck, (I’m sure this is in game) make supplies be a currency you can spend. For what? Whether you want to take care of your camp, or use it for upgrades. Make things like silencers and other OP attachments be limited use like in MGS5 (not all of them, but the ones that can be troublesome). Obviously, you’ll need to do some balancing with what weapons *can* have the silencer (no shotguns cause that’s just disgusting). Maybe have challenges be something that gives your camp temp immunity to something (like disease for a couple matches/days; a reduction or temp immunity in how many go hungry when you don’t spend supplies). This would encourage players to go for these missions, as it helps them save more supplies for themselves, or they can focus on missions that give them free attachments. I’m aware this probably sounds horrific, but it would make it less unfair and encourage players to stick around till the end, regardless of how the match is going.
I absolutely loved the multiplayer and am happy to hear that it still has a thriving community! Wish they'd hurry up and release a Faction MP for the new Last of Us, it would be a big hit!
i borriwed the remaster from my uncle once, and after beating the game i tried out the mp mode and loved it! even though i had a hard time getting started because i'm pretty sure i was playing against much more experienced players lol.
Edit: The Last of Us standalone multiplayer has been cancelled. Another victim of making everything an awful live service game. What a healthy and perfectly normal industry.

Apologies if certain sections sound weird.
Cinnamon Turmeric honey ginger tea is amazing for when you have a cold ☺️
For what it's worth from a random fan: hope you feel better soon!
Sorry to hear about the COVID! I hope you fully recover with zero side effects. I’ve had too many friends and family members develop long-haul issues, and I’d hate to see anyone else be saddled with them.
hope you are have made a full recovery without any lingering long-term effects.
Hey bro maybe we could play a few games too if ya want, I’ve been wanting to play this games multiplayer with a friend for a bit too lol
Factions has enough wall shooter cheaters, we don’t need straight up hackers as well
Factions 2 will be a standalone multiplayer game by ND. I think it will be the premier mp game on PlayStation.
This and Max Payne 3 multiplayer had their issues but the fun still heavily outweighed the problems.
so much fun on max payne three multiplayer
Max Payne had multiplayer?

Some of the best moments in factions were the ones where it was 1 v 4 and the other team has way more lives. I was able to clutch a TD game by holding out in that one room in university. Basically went bunker mode and was able to win with the shotgun, molotovs, and bombs. Good times.

This mp does better stealth than any other mp game. Also there’s no dodge button but the way movement is designed on the analog you can preform some dodges that are so rewarding when you master them. No need for gadgets just pure skill. You can really create your own style in this game.

I respect when video game companies take the time to make sure they're releasing quality instead of rushing!
highly doubt this fully expect a full on MTX "LivE SerVicE" mess prob will be p2w to since people didn't cry alot about it in this one
State of play soon bro, it's gonna be there I bet
I honestly had no idea LoU had multiplayer, much less multiplayer that was so well done it's still being played. This was really interesting.

Years later I still play this game all the time. I main bow and crossbow and it’s just such a satisfying game to play and relax.
Play and relax? Bro I am stressing all the time when playing 😂 but goddamn it’s fun
I LOVED this multiplayer mode!
I’m talking about kid Icarus: uprising for the 3DS
That game’s a banger
Same goes with mgsv but the community is shit
Hell yeah dude, that game's multiplayer was godlike
The maximum amount was like 115

I remember goofing around with friends at full parties, playing hide&seek or just doing 3v3/4v4 matches altogether, we had rules like no throwables or tactical shotgun, such great times. We were all really good at the game as well
Me and my buddy do the same thing… but it’s mostly 1v1 bows only lol
I love hearing when more obscure multiplayer games have dedicated fan bases, especially when they're so active you can find matches at any hour
I have really fond memories of playing factions on my PS3, its cool to see other people feel the same way about it.
Yeah, I’m one of the people who’s been coming back to play this mode for years. It just doesn’t stop being fun.
R6 is the same way in the present but somehow it doesn't bother me as much (I think the balancing is probably a bit better in R6 as well with regards to skill level so it's less depressing, haha).
not only this, but all the paid stuff are so annoying
The only naughty dog games I liked the MP was Uncharted 2 and 3, there wasn't so much paid perks and bullshit
also the character feels clunky asf
As soon I got the mp trophies for my plat trophy I left this and never came back

Best MP ever made.. been playing since 2013-14 can’t remember exactly.. its definitely my life game
Got my platinum 2 months ago, I was amazed how fast I was able to get into a match.
I’m not much of a multiplayer guy, but I fell in love with it.
I relate to this so much.. I still play… out of any video game, I have the best memories attached to this MP… I don’t know what it is..
Man, whats your nickname?
You made this look so fun. I'll definitely be giving it a try next time I see TLOU:R for cheap
Its free with ps plus that’s how i got it. I absolutely love TLOU series i can’t wait for the 3rd hope that has multiplayer because 2 didn’t.. weirdly enough.

I always wished I had more friends that played this for that exact reason
Sound like so much fun! I tried getting my friends to play too but they never got into it 😭
I basically only played survivors as I felt it fit my playstyle and I was worried about getting wrecked in supply raid as I thought it'd be more aggressive.
Great video, I still remember trying to 100% the game and multiplayer was just as time consuming as the campaign.
Still here to thank you once again for creating reviews on Iron Lung, and then Nine Sols.
Take care mister!
glad to see this mp get some attention. My friend and I got so much fun on this game
Played the shit out of factions all through high school, great times
Still my favorite mp game, so much tactic, stealth and fun, a lot of different builds etc.
Old Rainbow six siege.
this hit a different nostalgia chord - love this game [+]
Oh god, I hated the Bomb Expert perk lol
I'm willing to bet the item disappearing glitch ( which I haven't encountered, to my knowledge) is related to your teammates nearby also opening their own boxes
If I had to guess, the instanced items are conflicting and one of them had to go, or maybe the game thinks they got your items
Not only is it underrated..it’s one of the best MP modes ever made… it NEVER gets old.. and it only has 3 simple modes
I remember playing the Factions for a little while before the Sequel came out, had a lot of fun with it, definitely want to go back and play to get the final achievements for completing the Journey on the Firefly and Hunter Journey.
One of the best multiplayer I ever play on Playstation 3, I made a lot of friends and enemies in there
Your review is informative and is also entertaining.
Cosmetics do actually play a role in gameplay
Bright colored hat? Easy to spot
Big hat? Can clip through walls and cover, exposing you
The executions? Some of them are actually faster than the base game animations, therefore giving you more parts and killing you slightly faster
i would pay full price just to experience this on my pc, last time i've played was in 2014, i miss it
Though it really is not the same "Hood: outlaw & legends" is pretty similar to TLOU, plus it has the huge benefit of no one being able to shoot you through walls.
Still good today
I found this channel from your Iron Lung video and I am so happy that I did, your content is not only super interesting but also very very well made. Keep up the great work, I cant wait to see what you come up with next.
Having those violent eliminations would be amazing in the MP
Love this multiplayer so much, and it was the very first multiplayer that I didn’t feel like I needed to play with friends to have fun
Ótimo vídeo. TLOU Multiplayer fez parte da minha vida.
I have played the mp for years and still the most unique multiplayer mode I have played in a long time
i remember watching a load of this when the game first came out, because i was so excited to play the singlleplaer but didnt want spoilers ffor the story. loved it when i finaly did get hold of the game (after my friend finished it and lent me his disc)
I love factions so much:) So hyped on whatever they gonna do with the sequal.
You're by far one of my favorite TH-camrs I've recently come across. Your comedic timing is second to none, especially with that golf joke at the end, and I patiently await your next video
Such a slept on mp. Unfortunately literally nobody I know talks about it. You know it’s good when you can still get a match in seconds about a decade later.
we still play this daily
I know this isn't related to anything but I love your selection of music, it perfectly fits the gameplay and meshes with the tone of your commentary!
I'm going to be honest I still can't look at the last of us without thinking of The last of Us part 2. It really kind of tainted the game for me, but I'm not gonna let that stop me from playing the last one!
whats wrong with part 2? im currently playing through it and enjoying it
@@nexum1676 all I could say is that it's story really made feel like something was really wrong
Factions was so damn good maybe one of the best multiplayer modes I've played.
If it wasn't so heavily weighted to older players I'd join
wym? you can’t start now and still kill shit lol, like it doesn’t take long at all to
understand the game &
I have some of the best memories from this game, the clutches with only the enforcer, those moments when there's explosions and smoke everywhere and you have no idea what is happening, saving a teammate from getting killed by blocking the enemy from sprinting towards them, but there's one that always stayed with me
I was playing against a team that was only using the assault shotgun (that broken shotgun that is a standard weapon that can 2 shot you from short and medium distance and fires quiet fast) and the burst rifle, and also the special shotgun, I was using the spectre because I had enough of them and one of the guys messaged me because apparently I was "bad" by using that machine gun (he was using both shotguns)
Next match started, new players came to his team that were playing fair, except for him, I was using the suppressed enforcer and the machete, I was constantly hunting them down and using the shiv on them, I think I killed that guy around 4-6 times, he was clearly pissed off, so once he spotted me, he had the special shotgun with 6 shells, the dude literally spammed that shotgun to try to kill me, he managed to put me down but didn't execute me, thing is, he ran towards me to execute me like in pure rage mode, and he got shot by my teammates that were around the corner before he could even get close to me, then he proceed to rage quit while he was being executed
He didn't dare to message me after that
it's by far one of the best multiplayers at all. I was really surprised the first time I played it and still love to go back and play or watch streamers play it
My favorite online game for the last 8 years. Even named my daughter Ellie...
I adored the multiplayer for this back in the day, I always loved the blood pooling on shirts. Really makes your attacks feel more impactful. One of the few really cool stealth PVP games I've played.
A year later after this video and im still finding lobbies within seconds... still getting my ass handed to me too
I loved it, was sad that people easily dismissed it
I guess this makes me feel a little better about trying out factions, I’m probably going to die a bunch but I’ll try and remember what I saw in this video and hopefully will keep play factions until factions 2 comes out.
Great video! Very tempted to buy a month of PS+ to give this a shot now, I don't think I even acknowledged that this mode existed.
This multiplayer and Batman Arkham origins multiplayer were just so underrated
I absolutely loved the multiplayer and am happy to hear that it still has a thriving community! Wish they'd hurry up and release a Faction MP for the new Last of Us, it would be a big hit!
I still play this MP every once and a while and I still enjoy playing
It’s an underrated MP game
i borriwed the remaster from my uncle once, and after beating the game i tried out the mp mode and loved it! even though i had a hard time getting started because i'm pretty sure i was playing against much more experienced players lol.
