I remember this part and I referenced to it when I was seeing Joel & Tommy going inside with Abby and her crew into the house during the winter part.. I was like... What was he thinking at this point? But then I came to realize that there been many years since then and he got pretty "chilled" in Jackson and maybe started believing people a bit more. She still was a stranger to them and they went inside like it was nothing.. It's difficult what to think about this part. Other than that, that part with Tommy & Joel being hunters. Maybe DLC? R.I.P Joel Miller He is finally with his other baby girl. EDIT: Great to see people still arguing about the whole "Joel deserve/did not deserve it" thing, really shows how much this game means to people. Also, thanks for likes guys :)
She can't go back to Jackson or if she does it be really awkward. She would have to let Tommy know she didn't kill Abby which may cause him to hate her and Dana is there who she abandoned. She also got Jesse killed. The people might've become weary of her and Joel is no longer around to watch her back. Even if she goes back she still be alone.
One think that I just noticed: Joel used the guitar lessons in order to keep seeing Ellie. Now with both of them living in Jackson, there was no reason for them to maintain their relationship as they are not related and Ellie had her doubts about what really happened with the Fireflies. But the guitar was a good excuse to keep her near. That guitar became the thing that connected them. So, losing the ability to play guitar was the worst punishment for the path Ellie chose.
Well the last part of Ellie losing the ability to play the guitar was her losing a bit of connection with Joel but I wouldn't agree with the first part. Even though she had her doubts that Joel told her the truth, Joel was one of the people that stuck with Ellie for a long period of time. Her guardian essentially. Even when they arrived to Jackson and Ellie got her own place, besides the guitar lessons, they still stuck close to each other. Joel taught Ellie how to swim, they implied to went on multiple hunting trips, the birthday flashback, until they finally broke up.
@@taecampus Jesse also referred to Joel as Ellie's 'old man', so it seems that the people around them saw their relationship the same way. At least until she confronted Joel about what really happened at the hospital and essentially broke off contact for some time.
One reference you missed, when Ellie is leaving the theather to find Tommy Dina gives her a bracelet and say its for good luck, then Ellie says: " I Dont believe in Luck", its a clear reference to David from the first game, she learned from him that there are no such thing as luck, everything happens for a reason.
Remember when he said “stay on my ass” and ellie replied “can’t miss it” 😂...the first part had a lot of funny moments but with the second one they made sure to make the less funny lines and more depressing stuff to mess up our emotions ..neil you bastard you legend you u_u
I feel like you missed one. So there is this scene in left behind where Riley has Ellie imagine she's playing the game and you see the light change color on Ellies face as if she's playing the game and now in The Last Of Us Part II Joel makes Ellie imagine that she is actually going into space and it makes it seem as if she actually is with light hitting her face again. Just my opinion but anyways great work on the video.
Mmm that’s good so like saying ellie has a unique imagination or “had” one. Since the space shuttle at the museum ellie maybe doesn’t do these imaginations until when dina and ellie were at the barn house and right there ellie had a nightmare instead. Loosing joel really pulled her down from imagining something so hopeful in a cruel world with everything is torn down to pieces to having a bullet shot back to her when she experiences that nightmare
Shadogal94 and Riley’s shirt and pun book her mums switch blade Joel’s watch and revolver and do as bracelet she takes something from everyone she loves/loved
@@milesfowler7837 That was the point. There was no way Abby would have been allowed to die just as there was no way Joel would have been allowed to live. Politics must be miserably all encompassing.

The "Joel's past" part. I'm pretty sure its referring to joel being a hunter himself. When ellie asks about how joel knew about the ambush he said "I've been on both sides"
It's exactly like that, but most of the "fans" of this game believe that Joel is the classic "superhero" ... If they did a prequel on Joel's past, there would be a lot of people who would say: "Joel was a good person, would never do it "
@@bmillersince92 They were gonna kill his daughter without asking either one of them if that's what they want. Also the Fireflies werent originally going to even give Joel his weapons they promised they were just gonna kill him until Marlene stopped them. The only person I feel bad for is Marlene.
The entire second game is one big parallel. Joel coped with Sarah's death and the game showed how much he loved his two girls. Ellie and Abby coped with their father's deaths and showed how much they loved them. Part 1 was a requiem to Sarah with Joel repenting for how he could not save her by saving Ellie. Part 2 was a requiem to Joel with Ellie with her repenting by forgiving Joel, expressing her love for him so much that she gives up her chance for a normal life to find Abby and finally settle things (which she did, the outcome does not matter here). Rest in Peace Joel Miller Beloved husband Father to Sarah ... and Ellie
The more Abby helped the two seraphite children, Yara and Lev, the more like Joel Miller she became. Heavily flawed, but you can admire her for her determination. Least to me.
The game actually doesn’t show Abby cope with her dads loss. They literally show her get revenge. And her immediately crying when finding her dad killed. No emotion in between /after as to how or what changed in her from the loss of her father. Then again they never built her character to begin with. They just dumped her in the game and made her the instant villain then tried to get you to like her by showing acts of kindness to her friends
Robbie R The game does show how she coped with her Dad's loss, she thought taking revenge on Joel would stop the awful nightmares she has about her Dad but they only get worse. The nightmares end only after she goes back and rescues Lev and Yara even though they're both Seraphites, once she gives up being vengeful about her Dad's death she moves.
@@robbier3785 "Coping" is literally the psychological term for processing and dealing with experience. So even if they just would have shown the revenge it would still be coping. And the entire game is about her coping actually. Especially the dreams the guy above mentioned.
@@EpicCouchPotatoes In a flashback Joel tells Ellie 'bout some comics he found and read.He mentions how Captain Ryan and Dr. Daniela Star were murdering each other but both escaped at the end.
He did it cuz he cant just be like oh thanks and start playing with it he got bitten and i felt so sad cuz he just wanted to live a normal life and henry too. :(
Ellie in TLOU2 ties her hair in a similar fashion that Tess did. This might not be anything but I thought it was a good (potentially irrelevant) parallel
Ellie had something from everyone she liked or loved Tess- her hair Joel- watch and gun Riley- Clothing and pun book Cat- tattoo Anna- Switchblade Dina- bracelet
When I saw Joel's photo with Sarah I imagined Joel finally being reunited with her daughter and wife and how proud they are of him from changing his ways of living, caring about someone else rather than himself.
Umm he didn’t have a wife.... the fandom thinks that he’s in his late 40s in part 1 and in 20 years earlier he’s in his late 20s that would mean Sarah was born when he was 16 or 17 also he didn’t have a ring in part 1 too but also ppl who are teenage parents are most likely not to be married in the future idk why I’m writing this tho so
Kevin Escudero you don’t know that it never elaborated if he did or didn’t but it would still have been reunited with her girlfriend if they were broken up or she somehow died
I think you missed the main one. The tragedy when Joel lost his daughter (Sarah) at the beginning of Part I similar to how Ellie lost her father figure (Joel) at the beginning of Part II :(
Not really. Sarahs was relatively short, she was shot and died a minute after, while Joel was shot several times and slow tortured, then killed in front of his surrogate daughter.

Tess had such an emotional death, and was never mentioned again. That scene was one of the best in the franchise, and was a pivot point in Joel's and Ellie's relationship. It really gave people idea how good the game was going to be.
This video was very well done with the mixing of audio, transitions, and music. A+ and even though I might not like the second game's story I very much like these little moments
About the "Joel sings to Ellie" part there are two lines in that moment where Ellie escorts Joel out of that building. "If we make it out alive you are so singing for me." "You wish"
There’s another one: There is a painting of a deer behind Tommy in the "golf club scene". In the first part it was a sign that terrible things will happen

Another thing I'll add if it hasn't already been commented - is that this also plays a lot in the ending. Maybe not so much a reference as it is plot point but an easy to miss quote from the first game, that still applies to the second game. *SPOILERS* In the first game, Ellie tells Sam that she's afraid of Scorpions, then tells him she's seriously just afraid of ending up alone. By the end of the Part 2, her choices have led her to end up being alone (and worse). Her greatest fear has come true.

People saying Naughty Dog didn't pour their heart and soul into this game, and instead massacred the franchise, are just inconsiderate entitled brats. You can dislike the game's story, but don't throw mud on all the detail-oriented hard work
that doesn't matter in Asia if the game, which is a story telling game, is bad then all of it is bad as hell and will be drowned beneath of the ocean and no one will remember it, also tf is the detail ? the detail, graphic , gameplay of TLOU 2 is better than TLOU 1, the only wrong in TLOU 2 is the storyline which is the main point to make a story telling game like The Walking Dead. Those who said the graphic and gameplay of TLOU 2 is bad are dumbass, but those who said TLOU 2 is the best game then they are c*nt ass in bottom of the no-brain. And remember my friend, as a game creator, if you on a storytelling game, do not focus too much detail on the graphic, gameplay, create a story first and make it suitable and lovable story as much as you can then you can move on the graphic and gameplay.
31 - Huỳnh Quang Quân I know, for a story driven game like TLOU detail and graphics doesn’t matter. Creating a good story is the first thing devs should focus on for a game like TLOU. People don’t say it was a masterpiece because it had the greatest combat mechanics or graphics. It is because it had the greatest story. I agree they poured their heart and soul in the first game, for the second game I can’t say the same.
Stephan Kargel really? You think TLOU2 has a good story. And what makes you think I am not familiar with good stories. Literally anything has a better story than TLOU2. Try reading Twilight. Even that piece of garbage has a better story than this.

At 5:27 I never caught the correlation of Joel's answer to Ellie of "killing time" when he laid down for a catnap, and he is visibly wearing the now-busted watch that Sarah gave him on his birthday. Awesome video.

And in part 2 When you play as Abby right before yaras death in the farm land of the seraphite island (I don’t know if it works going stealth avoiding enemies I killed everyone) when you kill all the seraphites there abby asks yara if she’s ok and she replys with yeah just a bit winded
20:30 this is for everyone complaining about how Joel died in the Last of us 2 looking at this part does this really sound like that guy from The last of us 1? no, this is a man who has opened up, a man who feels comfortable and mend his relationship with his loved ones like Tommy.
Opened up doesn't mean you ever stop being cautious in a world where people do anything for survival. In fact being in a community in that world is all the more reason to be cautious in order to protect it. What you said had nothing to do with how Joel died. He probably thought the people he was with (Abby and co.) where alright, same as Tommy, so he let his guard down. They shouldn't have but ND probably wouldn't know how to kill him any other way. But him living in a peaceful community doesn't erase 20+ years of survival in a world that chews people alive and spits them out.

If u still think joel was just dumb for that, he has Ellie in his life and i feel like she has changed his perception in life, before her he could only see the worst in people now he can see the good in people (in the case of TLOU2 a bit too much). @the real slim shady I liked how he died, of course I wish he didn't but the suddenness of it remind you of the reality, things can just happen, life isnt a fairy tale and works out all the time. Him dying so fast is just reality in their post apocalyptic world, one thing can be there and the next moment its gone, just like how joel lost his daughter, it was sudden and fast and no way to stop it.
Cvijetinović he’s right but just telling them their names like that and where they lived right off the bat seemed strange for Joel and tommy but of course they could have gotten soft and used to people not wanting to kill them

She could of just flipped the guitar and change the strings
@@mcsquizzy77 that's gonna take way too long to get used to, let alone getting good at it. Because Ellie wasn't originally left-handed

Just my opinion but anyways great work on the video.
That’s a good one actually.

@382472 you are correct, the game that she pretended to play with Riley is in the arcade

Rest in Peace Joel Miller
Beloved husband
Father to Sarah ...

@@lordtouchme77 can i ask you something lets say i stop you from eating for like a long time and you are going to crave any kind of food in that time. I feel like If u played last of us 1, you know Tommy was the happier person as he has found himself a wife and community to rely on.Maybe joel wanted to know what it feels like a part of a team. This was very contrary to Joel who spent most of his life being cynical. If u still think joel was just dumb for that, he has Ellie in his life and i feel like she has changed his perception in life, before her he could only see the worst in people now he can see the good in people (in the case of TLOU2 a bit too much). I feel like that community is like a team, you can't build a team without trust. TLOU2 Joel was a loved and respected person in that community.
The Astronaut part made me tear tbh.
I could listen to Joel saying coffee all day

It’s amazing how much better the facial animations are.
God bless you for making this. It’s so well oriented and arranged.
Found this Old video because I'm completely addicted too tlou TH-cam videos. I've seen hundreds and I'ma say right now this is the best one so far. In case you read this well done
Imagine getting Part I remaster with this graphics! That would be sick!
A second remaster would be unnecessary
@the real slim shady I liked how he died, of course I wish he didn't but the suddenness of it remind you of the reality, things can just happen, life isnt a fairy tale and works out all the time. Him dying so fast is just reality in their post apocalyptic world, one thing can be there and the next moment its gone, just like how joel lost his daughter, it was sudden and fast and no way to stop it.
@@avalonbrown8667 reality yeah sure xD In such a world I would also say my real name..
Cvijetinović he’s right but just telling them their names like that and where they lived right off the bat seemed strange for Joel and tommy but of course they could have gotten soft and used to people not wanting to kill them
Danimal41014 Tommy was the one who gave out their names to Abby not joel.
We really need a Bill DLC for this game...
Me too
I personally want Tommy DLC
I was getting teary and emotional about Joel and his coffee,😭but at 4:28 I couldn't help but crack up with the bleeping 😂 I was a lil offended, I love coffee ☕️
I also thought that "Dong of the Wolf" tape that Dina found at Eugene's place was pretty funny
Probably one of the best story lines in a game I have ever played.....I was in such turmoil anytime Ellie and Abby fought to the death..I didn't want any of them to die.
The last of us is like a bottle of wine. The older it gets the better it gets. I am pretty sure we gonna be back re-playing the game and discovering many new details in many years. What a classic game!
23:18 she has found another pun book while traveling with Joel back in 1st game
When I say this game is the literal highlight of my life I cannot say it better. Like this game omfg everything to me bro.
So your saying you were adopted and your step dad was killed by a female gorilla?
@@Jaybi_Haider hahaha.
This makes me tear up, I remember playing the first game on the ps3 and after playing the 2nd one this brings back a lot of memories I never forgot
2:27 - I think this refers to when Joel said (In the first game) that he had been on both sides. (As in a bandit).
@MegaJf16 with tommy.
MegaJf16 he jus ran with people like the hunters but he wasn’t apart of that exact group previously
@@Walker-ow7vj Joel explained that? Or just you
I felt a little emotional of remembering the past TLOU
Remember that Bill said something like Joel shouldn't get emotionally close to Ellie, because that is what gets him killed when he cares too much for someone?
i'm so in love with this game
like i literally CAN'T STOP watching videos about it damn
