Now I have great respect for Bathilde, she was a fantastic musician and wrote letters in which her thoughts are very impressive given her position as a princess of the blood, not to mention the amusing satire she made of her husband. Also noteworthy is her resilience in changing times such as the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Empire. The death of her innocent son proves one thing: sometimes power corrupts people. She had an illegitimate daughter. Thank you very much for your video, I appreciate the paintings and that you take the time to create a great biography of a forgotten but incredible character.
Goddamn the death of her son was really sad, not just the event itself but how it effected his parents. It is heart-warming to see two people who had a falling out still be able to provide empathy and support to one another at what I'm sure was both of their darkest moment. Especially for the time. Also is nobody else gonna talk abt the dog like bruh 😭😭😭

I'm still here, sorry for the massive comment delay! :D The titles of "prince" and "princess" are very very interesting, in my opinion. As far as I know, it probably originally stems from the Latin "princeps", and it has been used over the course of history so many times and in so many ways, it can sometimes be confusing what exactly the title actually means, if you know what i mean ^-^ Sometimes it seems like only the direct children of a monarch (specifically queens/kings and empresses/emperors) were called princesses and princes, while in other situation, the title seems to have given to everyone even remotely in line to potentially inherit, while other times again it seems like practically everyone was a prince or princess :D What an amazing story about Bathilde's betrothal though ^-^ We often hear about the cliché knights in shining armor climbing up towers to "rescue"/"steal" princesses in stories and so on, it's almost surreal to hear and think that this actually has historical precedence and did happen at least sometimes :) it hurts to hear though that that "love" didn't last long. Oh my, Chateau de Chantilly looks absolutely amazing 💛 I love the round domed towers and turrets in contrast to the steep sharp roofs and spires ^-^ The detail in the architecture is almost overwhelming, but it looks very very nice :) And once again, another example of someone in a painful situation turning to the arts for comfort. I know i have spoken many many times before about how much I can relate to that :) This is a very very interesting story about a Princess in the middle of the French Revolution, thank you for telling us about her and her family 💛 it is very ironic, that someone with so liberal views and apparently strongly believing in equal rights and equal chance for everyone no matter their birth, ultimately had to suffer so much by the hands of the revolutionaries themselves, isn't it?
