It’s also worth checking to see if your GPU needs a fresh coat of thermal past as well. Sometimes these things can dry up or just not have enough to begin with and begin to over heat thus causing them to malfunction and or stop working. While this isn’t always the case and only a small chance of happening depending on the age of the GPU it still can be possible. Something to consider adding to your troubleshooting check list.

Next time try using DDU to uninstall the AMD driver before putting the Nvidia card in. Windows defaults to the "basic display driver" when there's a GPU installed but Windows cant immediately identify it windows will most likely (if connected to the internet) try to install a really old driver version of the GPU you have installed, it can't always properly do this if there's a conflicting driver already installed. so you should try to remove your old drivers when swapping GPU's this isn't usually an issue, but can happen.

so my MSI GTX 970 just completely went unresponsive out of no where a while back, been using motherboard graphics since then (no gaming) and I haven't been able to fix it. Has anyone had the same problem and come to a solution for it with anything? When i connect it, the light for the MSI logo and "MSI" turn on but the fans don't spin. Under Device Manager, it doesn't show at all under the Display Adapters and I can't download its drivers unless it has that signal detected. Any suggestions?

Dude i have a similar issue dont know if its a problem caused by windows or the gpu is dead
Thermal paste on the GPU? Where?
@@Indydi most GPUs have a heat sink of some sort. If you carefully disassemble your GPU you’ll see where the old paste is located. It’ll be obvious. Usually around the center of the card. The GPU gets crazy hot and needs all the help it can get cooling. Overheating can cause all kinds of issues.
I have a MSI RX 5700 XT EVOKE, the motherboard does not recognize it, it turns on the fans and gets hot, could this be the solution?
Plugged a new gpu in last night, double checked and triple checked it's compatible and it is... the power supply is an 850

Did you end up finding a solution, sameproblem here?
I have an rx 5700 xt. I bought it 3 months ago, a week or 2 ago it randomly didn't turn on. I took it out and put it back in and suddenly it kicked to life. Last night the pc turned on and the gpu didn't once again, only this time it didn't work when i reseated it. I changed the psu and all the wires, and i know it gets power because when i turn the pc off the right fan twitches every single time. It just refuses to kick on. I have a 1000 watt power supply plugged into my pc atm. I am 14 and I spent my life savings on the pc. Please help!
How do i do the stuff on my pc when im not getting any picture?
Use iGPU .. Intel HD or AMD VEGA
If you have a dp or hdmi port in your motherboard, use the motherboards stock graphics to get into your pc. Just plug whatever display cable the mother board has in, instead of plugging it into the graphics card.
How am i supposed to do any software things without graphics?
My pc has no signal to the screen. I have put the gpu into a test rig and it works. On my main pc there are 2 gpu slots, both having the same result: no image.
Weird is that the mainboard is not giving any peeping or anything regardless of what i am doing: i can plug out the ram sticks, the graphic card and everything and still no error peeping, just the silent sound of the coolers cooling.
The gpu‘s turbines are not spinning when in my main pc but on the test rig they were.

my rtx 3070 shows no display after installation, after i removed it and installed my old one, it worked just fine.
can it be that my old one is a amd rx 580 and the new one is a nvidia geforce rtx 3070?
I have the exact same problem. Did you find the fix? I just build my new pc and the gpu just isn’t in the display adapters
Honestly what worked for me after giving up was having the pc shot off without the power on and left it sitting dead. Came back after the 3 hours and boot it up with the 3070 and it started working. As weird as that sounds I know.
