hi brian I'm a professional country entertainer with a degree in electronics I find your pedals the best ive heard because as I listen to them I notice the signals do not degrade in your pedals like they do in most other brands. out of respect of other products I wont mention any names but I think you know what I'm saying. as far as I'm concerned if you want a pristine sound with quality wampler is far above most other brands..im building a new pedal board right now for my show and wampler will be all over my board.LOL love the videos also; Dan The Nashville Performer..

Yep! Filters, modulation (amplitude, phase, & frequency) BEFORE dirt! Also agree with you on pickups-- I definitely prefer single coils into a Big Muff Pi.
I had an ADA MP-1! I was kind of seduced by the idea of being able to radically change tones and FX (with additional Digitech FX processor) to anything I wanted by stepping on one button. The reality was that the workflow of spending a lot of time diving into the settings on a little LED display and setting up everything ahead of time in a very meticulous fashion, then just going to the gig and stepping on the controller buttons without much ability to tweak on the fly just wasn't my thing. I ditched it after a couple of years and went minimalist (Strat->Tube Works Real Tube ->Dual Showman). These days I've got an Egnater Rebel 30 combo and use more pedals (including the FANTASTIC Tumnus!) to shape my tone. But in a pinch I can still do a show with just a guitar, single channel amp and good overdrive pedal.
My comment is this, I like your videos better than all the others, and I watch a lot of them, thank you very much for what you do for all of us musicians, God bless you. 🎶😎🎸
48 and getting back into it. Still have everything from the eighties. Really enjoying watching your take on the new. Looking forward to checking out some of your creations. Tumnus first . Cheers from Canada!
I'm not a guitar geek by any stretch of the imagination (and I'm certainly not a good guitarist), but I have to say these videos are ace. I always have to watch.
i have tried some of your pedals, but i don't own any. i own a lot of high end pedals, but somehow i always chose another brand. i do however love your videos, very informative and educational. i might have to go back and look at some of your pedals again and get some. you deserve a look just based on how helpful your videos are. thank you.
Speaking of power supplies, there are pedals that require 9V and draw 100ma or less. Then there are pedals that require 9v and draw 300ma or more. That being said, if a power a 9V 100ma power supply is used for a pedal that requires 9v 300ma, what are the consequences? Power supply will burn out? Pedal will be affected or worse bricks? Thanks for the great videos Brian!
I never use Daisy chain connections any more. I have purchased 2 affordable isolated power supplies recently, One is called Dinosaur with 8, 9 volt power works great, but slightly to bulky to put on the pedal board. It has a permanent 3 prong power chord. I tried a Vitoos DC8 is small two, have selectable 1,000mA outputs and 6 isolated 9 volt 300mA outs. I noticed noise level was much quieter. I am using the Dinosaur is going to be used at home, the other is small enough to keep in a guitar case. I labeled all my power cables on both ends. Theses are for my aux pedals, not my regular board.
I make my own pedal cables Mogami 2319 , it's a thin cable and works great for getting into tight spots . I got this advise from Bob Bradshaw { pedalboard guru } . I love my Wampler " dual fusion " and my Keeley " Dyno MY Roto " tri chorus ......
Love the videos :) I wouldn't use zip ties for cable management on a pedal board, I'd use a roll of double sided velcro. I work in IT and I use it all the time for cable management, much easier when you come to break things down later. Have you ever thought of doing pedal kits, in the same way that people do kit guitars?
I have 4 of your pedals> love all of them! Please make a looper that doesn't suck in one way or another (with quiet switches), and that is "reliable" to use in a live setting, real RELIABLE!!! Thanks, Dave
Speaking of the Friedman amps one day I'll own a Friedman Phil X amp!!! I only use one channel and roll my volume down for "Clean tones" Also thinking about trying the Wampler Tape Echo or Delay how ever its worded. Looks to be a Killer Echo Machine!!! Thanks Brian. I can't wait to hear a Wampler Tape Echo into my Dirty Channel. Love the dirty Echo noise Kinda Hendrix tones. Lol
These videos are the shit! Even when you don realize youre doing it, youre giving out some advice or knowledge from someone whos got a bit more experience under their belt (whys that sound so dirty...??) that someone like myself might not have realized or picked up on through their own trials and errors and tests and aggravations and discoveries. These videos kick ass, man. Im gonna hunt out the other things you mentione doing: facebook, blogs,... The... Other... Things. Gonna have to watch that again actually. Super appreciative of all the help you spread. Like knowledge napalm or something. Carpet bombin my brain with information. I may have stayed up a bit too long actually....
Brian's pedal order preferences @4:30 Wah...Phaser...Flanger...Vibrato...Compression...OverDrive1...Distorsion...OD2?...on FX Loop: Chorus...EQ...Delay...Reverb. Wonder where he'd place Fuzz.
"Hö" in Höboman is pronounced a bit like "bu" or "ge" in "burger". Nordic people would describe pronouncing "burger" like "böögöö(r)" (and boman like "boo" and "mah-n"). As far as my swedish knowledge goes, Höboman means something like "man living in hay" :D I understand your confusion on "hobo man", laughed my ass off thinking it was somebody's name for real. I'm really interested in GigRig's modular pedal power system lately. So many have been amazed at how much better their pedals sound, and how quiet and clean the signal is, especially with those loopers taking them out of the circuit when not used. The downside is the huge cost, every isolation block with 4 outputs for example is £60, but the plus side is that you can slowly build a bigger system from the bare minimum basic units. And you'll know that the basic units you're building off of are top quality.
I would love to see y’all make a one stop Power supply. Take a massive amount of power and clean it up for any pedals (I have pedals that need 500ma) and even a separate few outlets for amps and things like a power supply. Maybe even a small backup system inside it for playing on the go for half an hour or something
It might be too broad of a topic and you may have discussed it in various formats over the years, but with a new EQ pedal coming out, a primer on how boosting/cutting frequencies at different points in your effects chain can affect what happens next to your signal.would be helpful. I find myself staring at my board going "if I put it here, will it push the mids forward or turn them to mush in the mix?" I know pedal order is all subjective, but I've never seen a great overall explanation of what happens to your tone as it goes through your chain.
What a great Video! Thank you Brian for all the help and the Tipps you put out! I think you are the Best Example of how a Company should be run these Days! All the best to you Cheers ,Flo
it was an 'eye-opener' ('ear-opener'?) to hear your quick summation on your preferences in 'pedal chain order'. will have to try some of these ideas out...
I miss my ADA MP1 preamps, I have them still but I need to overhaul the capacitors and restore them. But, I have found pedals that along with my Boss MS-3 that give me similar results. Plus, I have my Mesa Nomad 100/Two Notes Torpedo Captor 8 setup that I really love now.
Ooh .You said you don't really care for chorus. Even if it's Indyguitarist modded chorus. From back-in-the -day modded Boss CH-1 chorus. Well I'm glad I was able to p/u a used chorus pedal to make my board more complete. THANKS for your early work.
Questions & Arswers are great and all, just make sure not to spread yourself too thin. You can only make so many until you go full Fluff and you're answering questions about unreleased albums and gear you haven't had any chance to try, or your take on a mainstream AS ZUCK movie.
I wish I lived near Brian "the brain" Wampler, just so, I could have the chance to meet this dude by chance, buy him a beer to say thanks for being one of the soundest coolest guys in the industry! But I would probably just verbally vomit what little I know about circuitry thinking it a viable hello ha! I dont leave many comments, this is probably why, but I just had to say thanks for being a decent human being and not an ivory tower guy, thank you
@@wampler_pedals came across this video 2 years after you posted it. Great video. I enjoyed it! One question for you. Saw the sound proofing material on your walls and ceiling. Does it work really well? The way you have it set up? Or does it work correctly if it's wall to wall?
I like this kind of video a lot. Been playing as long as you, but kind of new to understanding pedals and effects. Query: I have a few pedals, Is there a resource that you know of that can help me understand, or know exactly what kind of pedals they are? Either a compendium of information about specific pedals, or else a way that I can learn to look at the circuit itself and know. Basically, when I watch a bunch of videos of how to use tubescreamers and Klons etc, I'd like to know where my pedals are on that spectrum so I can utilize the information.
I once fell for the high cost cable thing....once. A monster cable to go between the wah and the other pedals. Zero difference between tone quality. I spent $40 on a 3 foot patch cable for no good reason. Ya live and ya learn. .....and I like the Q and A .....almost as much as I like T & A. 😆
I’m sure people have more important things to say, but.... Lava Cables. Made right here in Owasso, Ok. And come on down for Mexican food. If you ever come see Robert Keeley, make him take you to Tarahumaras in Norman or something there in Edmond/ OKC. Good Mexican all over Oklahoma. Other than that... great stuff. Keep it up.
WAMPLER, after you build a pedalboard, how are you measuring the noise floor level? and what do you do to lower the noise floor level instead of using a noise gate or noise reduction units?
Dude, I have (and still use) am ADA-MP1 "Classic." Fantastic sounding piece of gear! It can sound dated in the drive sound, but issuing it as a clean pedal platform works great for modern tones.
Been using hosa on my board(s) for about 10 years. Love them. No problems yet. Pro co instrument cables for most part of 30 years I think. Need co. For speaker cables now. Any suggestions?
Hey Brian, how about you using Marshall heads from JMP series with les Pauls, as you know most of the gigs guys are playing today are small, but I don't want to give it up, so I've gone to a 1x12 port city cabinet, now what pedals work great for overdrive that I can use, and not get ask to turn it down. I use a RV-6 for reverb, Dunlop wah old one, and Tumnus for overdrive. Just don't need many pedals, but always open, maybe Octave. Thanks
So far I only have 1 Wampler pedal, Velvet Fuzz...runs alongside MXR Distortion, and both have their sweet spots. VF is my fav drive fuzz. Hey, if it's jake with Andy Martin and Brett Kingman it's for me. More Wampler pedals are on my radar. Thanks Brian...Tacos ! And, hey when available--WORLDS BEST CABLES - using Mogami 2524 wire and Neutrik NP2RX-AU-SILENT & Neutrik NP2X-AU-SILENT ¼ Inch (6.35mm) TS Plugs..1/2 the price of the big guys.
After years of playing clubs I've found different venues have clean or dirty power so even with a good power supply I'd occationally have 60 cycle-ish noise or hum. Also running 2 amps lifting the ground on 1 of them. So.... Batteries have been my only real way to avoid noise going from venue to venue.
Hey Brian got my wampler belle in today I love it a very good petal. My question is if I stack it with my tube screamer an blues driver do you think it’s a good idea or no . My amp is a deluxe reverb tube amp playing a Stratocaster
Brian, great vids!!! Now, the portable AC unit behind you. Is that for de-humidification? And, do you have a static electricity problem when (if) it is active?
Thanks! I have a dehumidifier that only runs when it drops below a certain level. If it drops too low I’ll add in a humidifier to bring it back up to 60% or so
Hosa sounds great but be careful because the male end brakes after a bit of abuse when connected to a guitar where the output is on the bottom rather than the face of the guitar
U r an extremely honest guy. I own a velvet fuzz, I checked its components, very high quality., I think Wampler makes great pedals, with great tunes. What I really don’t like is their appearance, the way they look. In my opinion, u should create new designs for your kids
Seems odd that you prefer REVERB/DELAY/EQ etc, through the effects loop (WHICH IS AFTER Dirt) when you can, but if not, you run them BEFORE DIRT?.. Can you explain this logic? I always heard Modulation/VERB/DELAY AFTER dirt (after everything really, for verb and delay).
Great video and great pedals. I have a Tumnus (not the deluxe), Sovereign and a tube screamer. Can you recommend the order I place them. I am using a BOSS MS3 4CM into a MESA BOOGIE JP2C. I dont stack the pedals. I generally use them based on the type of overdrive I'm going for depending on the song. I play everything from Tom Petty to Metallica. So naturally I'll use the amps distortion for the heavy tones and the pedals for more classic rock tunes. I know there are no specific rules, I kinda just want your opinion. Thanks and keep making the videos man. They are very insightful and your topics are practical.

Loving the Q and A's! WILL YOU BE MAKING A WAH OR VOLUME PEDAL?
I really respect the fact that even though you have your own pedal company, you give props to other pedal makers and use other gear.
You asked so I'll answer: I dig these Q&A's. It's always nice to see successful, yet accessible business owners. Thanks for your time, Brian. Cheers!
Waited all my adult life for a Tumnus Deluxe!..... Thanks Mr & Mrs Wampler, you have made a Scotsman very happy.
"Chili Relleno" MUST be the name of your next pedal!
What a down to earth guy. Gives great advice and opinions. Makes me want to buy wampler pedals!

WAMPLER, after you build a pedalboard, how are you measuring the noise floor level? and what do you do to lower the noise floor level instead of using a noise gate or noise reduction units?
Truly Isolated power supplies and strategic wiring practices as well as any power conditioning from mains wiring will help a lot
Love your videos! can't wait to get my hands on a Tumnus Deluxe!
I like the q&a. Keep 's coming Brian.
Thanks
Totally dig these q&a videos. As every other video from you
I like these type of videos, knowledge is always good
Awesome video! Thank you Brian!
How about building a Wamplerator, like the Dumblator. A great FX loop preamp.
BC108 treble booster on the right with tube screamer type on the left!
Iv had all hosa cables since 2008 , still use most of em all the time . So wat u said ,, yeah .
This was great. I didn't ask any questions, but I had some answered! Awesome video! 👍
Digging the Q&A Brian, thank you!
What do you think of DC Brick's by Dunlop for a power source?
Brian, great vids!!! Now, the portable AC unit behind you. Is that for de-humidification? And, do you have a static electricity problem when (if) it is active?
Thanks! I have a dehumidifier that only runs when it drops below a certain level. If it drops too low I’ll add in a humidifier to bring it back up to 60% or so
I dig these Q&A's and I'm letting you know
what's your favorite affordable delay that has a decent time/feedback sweep that doesn't sound so choppy?
Pedal hoarder? It's becoming a real thing for me. I always say, "After this I'm done for a year or two". Then I buy another.
Thanks for these type videos , very interesting and helpful , very much appreciated
Hmm so i am real curriouse about the j rocket rockaway but may also be fine with a convintional 3 band eq to make my pedal work with different amps
Thanks for the honest critique! 😊 Regarding the looks, what would you like to see different?
The way the knobs are placed, and the typefaces, I think.
I don’t know exactly...
Delay and reverb before dirt? Like before a dirty amp or before your drive section?
Seems odd that you prefer REVERB/DELAY/EQ etc, through the effects loop (WHICH IS AFTER Dirt) when you can, but if not, you run them BEFORE DIRT?.. Can you explain this logic? I always heard Modulation/VERB/DELAY AFTER dirt (after everything really, for verb and delay).
Buffer at beginning of chain or at end or both? Or in the middle?
Those premium Hosa cables are great.
Love these videos should be longer.
As a Texan I can attest and swear by the legend of the chili relleno 👌
Dig the Q&A. Thank you. Very informative
Thanks for your time!
