Do they chastise their engines for saying bad stuff later on? When Gordon refused to pull a special freight train and disrupted the turntable he was on, rolling himself into a ditch as a result, where was his driver to set the brakes?
With regards to Gordon rolling into the ditch, I believe his driver and fireman were outside his cab to turn him on the turntable. With Gordon being in steam, he tried to move forward slightly on his own to jam the turntable and...well, I think you know the rest.

Some engines even enjoy a trip to the works for maintaince which of course requires taking them to bits.
I think it's sad they made some dark stories in the RWS books because kids probably freaked out from reading these stories with their parents. I think it's for the better that they didn't adapt the Mountain Engines into the TV series because of how dark the stories are on the books and also because it wasn't possible to turn the characters into models for the show (and even if it was possible, it wouldn't have been financially possible because the models in the show for the other characters are high quality looking characters that cost a lot of money to make).
There’s a small preserved railway (I think) in my state, South Dakota. There’s like, one diesel and maybe 3-5 steam engines. Btw, the, I think, means I think its classified as a railway, but now I’m thinking it’s more classified as a tourist attraction.
The reason why Henry was left in the tunnel, The Fat Director/Awdry had enough of Henry's problems in the illustrations he started laying the ground for Henry's leave but people kept sending letters asking for more of Henry.
Gordon saw damned near a century of service. When he was new he was top of the line. A product of a country bouncing back from war. Forty years later? He is having to come to ter!s with the fact his like is all but done. While he has a home in sodor and his brother has been grand enough to be spared the torch (and even then it was a close thing had funds not been raised.) To hear that all that you are, all those of your kind have been deemed obsolete and have all been replaced not just with a differing model, but a wholly differing thing. And yet Gordon took his retirement with grace and dignity.
This is an Awesome video,I first thought this was a video about how Thomas is racist and authoritian but nope, this is a well researched video! also The Bluebell Railway isn't the only railway that acts as a Safe Haven for Steam Engines, that's basically every Heritage/Preserved Railway and Railway Museum
Well that's just awesome every time when there's an accident in Thomas and Friends it ends up being real, first the Flying Kipper, James's accident, the accident in Gordon's View, and now Godred's fake death. What the heck is going on with Sodor. I'm starting to think the Island of Sodor is real.
It's not real, it's REALISTIC, except for the parts that have to do with sentience. But Thomas not realizing he forgot his train's just too real for an animated show. I still have Percy's Ghostly Trick, a classic video and the box says "Live Action Animation", so don't tell me it wasn't animated when they used "toy trains", as my mom called the models. He should've realized a lot sooner than he did, maybe as long as it takes someone to realize OMG, I forgot my pants or my shoes, even if you justify his unawareness by saying he was so excited and absentminded. He pulled coaches about all the time before that as a shunter, so he, being alive, should know how coaches feel in that story.
TBH, The godred story reminds me of Eastern airline flight 401 when a plane crashed due to pilot mistake killing 101 lives. The plane was destroyed but it part was in perfect condition and was used on other planes which sparks ghost sighting.
Great video! It would be nice if the on screen text stayed there a little longer, its hard to read when you're also listening but the notes on screen were often worth skipping back to read. Thanks for putting this together!
I think the ‘Sir Handel’ part is taken a bit too seriously for what it is. It’s pretty much just the equivalent of when a child faked sickness and the parent responds by saying they’ll go to the hospital instead and get shots and tests done. It’s a bluff to stop a lie.
Hey lad, did ya know that dismantling engines IS A REAL THING? The Thin controller said that probably cuz he wanted to see if Sir Handel was actually sick, as you dismantle an engine to fix problems with it Irl. But anyways, nice vid :)
Sir Handel and Peter Sam were originally painted blue and green when they were named Falcon and Stuart in the railway series. In the TV series they kept the blue and green for Peter Sam and Sir Handel.
@18:43 Funny Enough, They did make toys for the Mountain Engines, The Wooden Railway made Culdee an Engine, and the metal trains had Culdee, Godred, & Lord Harry.
As someone who’s watched this video probably like 20 times now because I just love your voice so much, I don’t think I would necessarily call these stories “scary”. I mean sure, if you were in the situation of some of them it would be scary for YOU, but I don’t really think most of these would qualify as “terrifying”. I don’t know, maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about. After all I’m just a naive autistic young man who doesn’t understand things unless they’re directly explained to me.
If steam engines are getting scrapped because diesel engines are cheaper, than the hatred would be justified. There's being accepting of those who are different, and then there's ignoring your own best interests and embracing you extinction.
You know, recently I’ve been writing the story of Thomas and Friends where in a literary form I write it where one episode leads to the next, leads to the next. I’m trying to include every episode, movie, and special. But now that I watched this I wonder if I’d be able to mix The Railway with Thomas & Friends
Uhhh, it's something like "Comic Walk". I don't really remember the title that well. If look on the SpongeBob Wikia and go into an episode article, there'll be a list of music cues used in the episode. Assuming you know the episode well, you can find the title of the music cue used in a certain instance that way.
16:53 I knew the story sounded all too familiar. That's because it happened in my hometown in Colorado Springs. An 0-4-2T number 4 on the Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway broke a side rod and ran away in 1896. It was scrapped shortly afterward. I never saw that picture, even though I knew all too well about it! Thanks!
15:44 Some else commented on a different video that in the RWS Peter Sam hinted that Duncan swore when he told Skarloey about him by saying “he uses strong language”
9:36 Wait until you hear Geroge Carlin's Scottish accent! These dark stories are always favorites of mine! Godred's story is my favorite! Classic Thomas and The Railway Series aren't afraid to show dark things to children, and I say that's a good thing!

No, why would he be strict? He saves engines, not be a greed engine.
"I'm coming apart!"
Scruffey's last words
I just love wat you said about the stories and your jokes are gold
13:05 I remember as a kid the sound effect plus facial expressions really gave the trains a realistic feeling of power
Godred’s smoke was fire,wasn’t it?!
8:55 The death of that brakevan isn't even sugarcoated in the TV series. He had an actual dead face!
3:37 I love this video so much now because he actually mentioned that Henry was let out
Your not like other ones. You are being serious with these , and get no hate. Good video by the way
28:00: Who’d have thought Rev. Awdry would be a fan of crotch pain in comedy?
Or to have fun with fat-shaming Teddy Boston! 😂🤣
Is realistic
TBH, The godred story reminds me of Eastern airline flight 401 when a plane crashed due to pilot mistake killing 101 lives. The plane was destroyed but it part was in perfect condition and was used on other planes which sparks ghost sighting.
Does that mean Culdee predicted that event?!
Excellent list. Some of these, I've heard of, others are more obscure.
He just gave a whole new meaning to the term "break van"
XD 10:43
Great video! It would be nice if the on screen text stayed there a little longer, its hard to read when you're also listening but the notes on screen were often worth skipping back to read. Thanks for putting this together!
“Doh I made the joke”
Had me dying 😂😂
I think the ‘Sir Handel’ part is taken a bit too seriously for what it is. It’s pretty much just the equivalent of when a child faked sickness and the parent responds by saying they’ll go to the hospital instead and get shots and tests done. It’s a bluff to stop a lie.
Hey lad, did ya know that dismantling engines IS A REAL THING? The Thin controller said that probably cuz he wanted to see if Sir Handel was actually sick, as you dismantle an engine to fix problems with it Irl. But anyways, nice vid :)
This is a good video to watch on Halloween.
3:42 Edward kinda looked like he had hearts for pupils.
i remember these books, and now that i see the things in here it’s kinda funny how i thought nothing of it as a kid
If godred’s demise never happened why is there no number one mountain railway engine
Godred could’ve actually existed but he didn’t have an accident
Godred's demise did happen, the book just had its ending change to not upset the readers
I have Take N' Play Culdee and D199... unfortunately there's no BoCo 😔
@@Vincent_Pilsen That sucks that BoCo didn’t get a Take N Play :(
As someone who’s watched this video probably like 20 times now because I just love your voice so much, I don’t think I would necessarily call these stories “scary”.
I'd really love to see more ﹰRailwayﹰSeries and ﹰThomas & Friends videos.
#2 was such a British jab at us Americans 😂
I like how the first American engine he added was cocky and didn’t give darn for anything. Man British really be trying to make fun of us Americanos
You probably can, and your story will be good to read when it's finished.
Kelly Foster - I have been doing it, and I’m in the process of working on it. Perhaps I can show it to you?
@@CelestinaakaClonaClox9999 Sure.
How can I contact you? I’ve got Discord
@@CelestinaakaClonaClox9999 Er, never nind. I let my conscience get thd better of me.
Don't forget that the Spiteful Brake Van was screaming in agony as Douglas pinned it against the trucks, begging them to "go on!"
What’s that spongebob music at 27:00?
Uhhh, it's something like "Comic Walk". I don't really remember the title that well. If look on the SpongeBob Wikia and go into an episode article, there'll be a list of music cues used in the episode. Assuming you know the episode well, you can find the title of the music cue used in a certain instance that way.
That's right.
This can't be your only Thomas video
It isn't. Check out my "It's Just for Kids" video.
Thanks!
24:07 *still waiting for a project on a steam tram to be built*
Aren't we all
Loco-Brakes from Brazil want's to know your Location.
The scene where Thomas pulled James from a falling tree, Thomas's stoker head turned on its own.
The black smoke from Godred must be fire! 😱
.... Real steam engines don't have all white smoke how dumb are you

I'm the 1000th like!
Edit: Thanks for the like!
I was expecting some sort of ghost train story. I was indeed wrong.
Hang on his name was smudger in the tv series. Not to mention they're completely different types of engines
Ironic how all the Narrow-gauge engines were red except for the one named Rusty. Also, in the more recent era, they've repainted Rheneas yellow.
Only once in a brief scene
15:44 Some else commented on a different video that in the RWS Peter Sam hinted that Duncan swore when he told Skarloey about him by saying “he uses strong language”
28:18
Him: Peter Sam and-
Subtitles: Peter salmon
"This story wasnt exactly adapted for television"
*cough cough* thomas and stepney *cough cough*
22:27 what scene from thomas and friends is this from?
Rusty to the rescue.🟧
Yep
So your telling me when they don’t like a piece of rolling stock they just fucking destroy it
By accident
I mean...yeah it makes sense
Engine says they aren't feeling okay, the crew takes them apart to find what's wrong, good picture to the camera as well
14:01: imagine being a kid and climbing on some old wood on the side of a train track and having a face looking at you while your standing on it.
After reading the RWS, big world big adventures is boring.
9:36 Wait until you hear Geroge Carlin's Scottish accent!
These dark stories are always favorites of mine! Godred's story is my favorite! Classic Thomas and The Railway Series aren't afraid to show dark things to children, and I say that's a good thing!
