Here's another Cartoon Cartoon that you've likely forgotten about if you're a millennial or never heard of if you're outside that age group. Time Squad was a program that featured a trio of guys going through history in order to fix the odd things that have been seen happening in it. It wasn't easy to review this one as I'm not entirely clear on the rules that the show was trying to establish. ...

I didn't cover everything there is (I don't think anyone would sit through a video like this that ran for hours on end), but I think I covered all of the most exciting worlds. Enjoy!

We're nearing the home stretch here! We begin on day three of the game having solved four riddles. Time is running out for us to save the Earth from Impending Dumé. The game in its obnoxiousness is now only allowing me to solve one riddle per day. We've already solved two riddles and the stakes are high to solve a couple more. I didn't mind Happy New Year Charlie Brown. It's true about Linus, he was a real dbag throughout the special. But Someday You'll Find Her? That was pretty awful.

I must admit if I made a top 5 list of worst Peanuts specials, it would resemble something like the video. However, I will change the entries on this list. 5. It's the girl in the red truck Charlie Brown: That one is without a doubt the weirdest special in the franchise for apparent reasons, but it's important to note that this is the ONLY live-action peanuts work (excluding MetLife commercials) When Charles M. Schulz created this special, he wanted to make a magnum opus, and he planned this before production even began. He even went as far as to spend millions of dollars and spend 4 years on it, wanting this to be the Citizen Kane of the franchise, but unfortunately, of course, it was a flop in the long run. Critics called the live-action/animation hybrid clunky, Jill wasn't engaging enough, and the story went nowhere. Despite all that, to this day, after seeing it once when I was young, I genuinely see what Schulz was trying to do because of four things. 1. It's a live-action peanuts special. That has yet to be heard of before at the time, and I want to see what a peanuts character can do in a live-action story. 2. A character we rarely see gets more focus this time instead of Charlie Brown or Snoopy (although I must admit the name is slightly false in terms of advertising), 3. The new characters are out of place, but they didn't bother me that much, and it's a bit reassuring that despite the lack of adults, there are still people in the Peanuts world who are older than the main cast who are kids. 4. If Schulz wasn't giving it his all, he would never spend millions on it with 4 years of production. The main problem with this special is that Schulz tries to make it a magnum opus, only for him to fail to realize that he already made one, and that's the peanuts franchise itself. To this day, the franchise still makes movies, video games, TV shows, and specials long after the original comic strips, and Schulz himself was gone 24 years ago. It's easy to argue that the red truck special is less of a special and more of an experiment. An overly ambitious, misguided experiment that failed to do what the peanut man wanted, but it's still a better option than the ones below. 4. It was the best birthday ever, Charlie Brown: Peanuts is a slice-of-life franchise, so it's not uncommon for the characters to do mundane stuff, but yeah, this one takes the cake. Yes, the Red Truck special has the same problem plot-wise, but at least it had some form of EFFORT; the Best Birthday Ever special doesn't even have the same effort put into the Charlie Brown and Snoopy show. Even if we excuse the excessive rollerblading because of the new animation style, it doesn't excuse the reused animation on everything else, the misleading title (I thought I'd be about Charlie Brown, Schulz, or even the franchise itself), and the fact that the plot revolves around a main character who not only never shows up again in other peanuts related media but servers no purpose other than to teach kids about flowers. There's honestly nothing else to say about it. 3. Someday, you'll find her Charlie Brown: My thoughts on this are almost equivalent to planetaryiam954's. It was a toss-up between this and Happy New Year, but I ranked this one 3rd because Charlie took a journey outside his neighborhood. A plot structure that's reminiscent of the Peanuts movies like Race for Your Life and Bon Voyage (and Don't Come Back), and to me, a main character in a slice of life exploring new lands is a bit intriguing (Plus I've found even more reasons why the Happy New year special is even worse, and it involves a particular apple+ special to boot). It's too bad that the destination was a bust. If there's one thing I hate in any story, it is a lack of payoff and closure in an ending. We spent a whole special seeing Charlie Brown chasing after a girl (that he had NEVER EVEN MET IN PERSON BEFORE, BY THE WAY!) only for Linus to become smitten with the girl and swoops her off her feet, making Charlie even more miserable. The unrequited love business in peanuts makes me ambivalent because it can be funny regarding Sally and Linus or Lucy and Schroeder. However, it becomes depressing when talking about Charlie and Heather (who will be discussed later), or virtually any girl. Even if I consider that Peppermint Patty and Marcie both have a crush on him, which leads to some humorous moments, Charlie is too wishy-washy to outright reject them like Linus and Schroeder, let alone reciprocate one of them. Thus making the girls even more frustrated. In fact, in one strip, when Heather is moving away, Linus is so angry at Charlie for not doing anything that he is screaming at him. I've never seen him raise his voice like that since "Why Charlie Brown Why?" Unless there's a special out there that shows Charlie getting a backbone when it comes to love, someday will never, EVER come. 2. Happy New Year, Charlie Brown: Talk about a ball drop. This special, in theory, is supposed to have us celebrating the new year, but instead, we are given scenes of Charlie doing his homework and suffering from it. Yes, he went to a party, but it was to see Heather, and he wasn't even finished with the said homework; because of this, he took it to the party, worked on it during that said party, got sleepy, and missed her (and he was assigned more homework at the end of the special). The truly worst part of the entire special is the very fact that Peanut's first media outing outside of newspapers was a Christmas special that doesn't even have a thick plot, and yet people loved it. It doesn't even help that 35 years later, after the special aired, another New Year special was made by Apple+ called Snoopy Presents: for Auld Lang Syne. This is important because unlike the first Happy New Year special, not only is that one is better due to it humanizing Lucy ALOT MORE than number 1 could ever do (more on that soon); but not only did it teach us lessons on failure, perfection, and being loved through the older van pelt sibling; but it's also a special that has no involvement from Schulz, Lee Mendelson, and Bill Melendez (You know the guy who voiced Snoopy, and Woodstock, and worked on EVERY. SINGLE. PEANUTS ANIMATION PROJECT WITH SCHULZ UNTIL DEATH!? Even Wikipedia and the Wiki state that Bill is the only man allowed to animate, produce, and direct the peanuts gallery). So, to sum it up, ever since 2021, the Happy New Year special has ZERO excuses for being this bad. 1. it's your first kiss, Charlie Brown: OH GOOD GRIEF I HATE THIS SPECIAL! If I'm willing to rewatch the previous specials I've mentioned, I'll probably do so because at least it has something redeemable. The red truck was an experiment, and the best birthday ever was boring yet harmless; someday, you'll find her has the characters going on a journey, and Happy New Year has a party with characters enjoying themselves for the most part. However, I'll never rewatch this one because it has NOTHING REDEEMABLE!! The only good things about this thing are that not only did Charlie kiss Heather, AKA the little red hair girl (yes, THE little red hair girl), but not only (until 2015) do we get more insight into her character than any previous Peanuts installment, even than the comic strips, (Ok the special doesn't focus on her that much, but we could see her face, and we learned that her name is Heather, so I'm willing to take what I have) but this special was so bad that I wasn't the only one who thinks so. At the time of its airing, fan letters were written to CBS OUT. OF. PROTEST!!! Now that the positives are out, let's look at the plot. For a good chunk of the special, Charlie and his friends played football for homecoming (because it's not like they're going to grow anyways, so why not), and Lucy pulled the football trick onto Charlie. An absolute iconic gag that, in theory, should make me laugh, but this was the first time I DIDN'T laugh at all. For one thing, the fact that Lucy pulled the football trick DURING A FOOTBALL GAME TOO BEGIN WITH!!!! You think that she would get a brain and decide that this is not the right place or even the right time to do it, but no, she did it because it's peanuts and another thing is that every time Charlie lands, he gets the blame. No, really, they did that. To put it in perspective, because of the protest letters, Peppermint Patty's lines were MUTED TWICE after Charlie landed onto the players on release. One is about him screwing up the play, and the other is about him not doing anything right. Even if I consider Charlie's gullibility borderline stupid, it's still Lucy's fault for taking advantage of it and not knowing when to stop. HECK, SHE EVEN WENT AS FAR AS TO BELITTLE HIM AT THE DANCE!!!!! (Yeah, this is what I meant by saying that the Auld Lang Syne special humanized Lucy a lot more than this one. I can even go as far as to say that this was her worst moment in the franchise, along with all the football pulls in this special. If you want to see the crab bucket herself at her most mellow and even cheerful, go and check out For Alud Lang Syne either now or at New years) Even though the special has a "happy ending," unlike someday, you'll find her or happy new year, to me personally the ending is just a cop-out to ignore the fact that Lucy never owned up to her misdeeds throughout the special. You know you failed, especially when the funniest gag in your franchise becomes the biggest problem in the project. Between the football game, the edits for release, and the letters, I can easily call this piece of work the worst and most controversial special in Peanuts and Schulz's history.

What a shame Van Dyke Parks and Brian didn't stick with the "American" theme from songs like Heroes & Villains, Cabin Essence, Our Prayer, Wind Chimes and Good Vibrations to create a more unified theme and a forbearer of things to come right around the decades corner with the "back to nature" Americana craze of the Band, Grateful Dead and Dylan.

The only way you can watch the Super Bowl special nowadays is by tracking down a VHS copy on eBay or some other antique store, or in bits and pieces on TH-cam, because the licensing issues with how and when it was made caused it to be the ONLY Peanuts special (alongside Why, Charlie Brown, Why? for a while*) to not be re-released in any capacity officially, in this case, due to copyrights with the NFL. *When Apple TV bought the licenses to stream and broadcast Peanuts specials, WCBW was one of the many recovered, restored in a previously unseen remastered quality. Previously, a certain Peanuts DVD compilation includes it, but its quality BARELY being remastered. There are 29 original Peanuts specials on Apple TV’s lineup, but the Super Bowl one is missing.

The segment about It Was My Best Birthday Ever, Charlie Brown made me flashback to a supposed fiend of mine who repeatedly ghosted me. She’d ask me if I wanted to do something, I’d accept, she’d tell me a time she’d pick me up, and then she’d often ghost me. It started to be that she ghosted me way more often than she kept her promises. I would wait for her (often going without food because she’d say we’d get something while out) only to realize she had done it to me again. I even missed Halloween celebrations one year because she invited me to an event and then never showed. She rarely apologized or gave an explanation, and the one time I expressed a negative emotion about her not keeping an appointment, she blew up at me and talked about how “selfish” I was. In fact, that’s how our friendship ended. She invited me to something in the presence of my mother, and I accepted because I thought, “She won’t break a promise she made in front of a witness!” After hyping this trip, she tried to cancel with an excuse so bad I didn’t realize it was supposed to be an excuse. When I didn’t buy her shoddy excuse, she blew up worse than ever, calling me selfish, saying untrue things about me, and ending our friendship, which had lasted a number of years, over a completely imagined wrongdoing. As bad as Mimi was, at least she kept her promise and showed up, even if it were just for a minute.

Well, the beach boys released alot if weird tracks before the smile recordings were done. Brian wilson is an odd ball with a delightfully bizarre sense of humor.

14:24-14:32 Well... I'd imagine some engines would at first. Before that reputation comes back to bite them, when even workers become wary of using them for goods duty.
