This would be my top 10 Mill Deck cards for Commander. 1. Phenax, he is the only Mill Commander other than Mirko Vossk, Lazav, or The Scarab God that you can actually play with. He does serious work, but many games I don't cast him because I find a combo instead. 2. Traumatize - Because you immediately nuke an unsuspecting player, they usually scoop when traumatized. It's awful value in Commander. Combos with Fraying Sanity and Fleet Swallower. 3. Duskmantle Guildmage/Mindcrank - Because the Combo mills everyone easily and quickly. 4. Keening Stone, because it just works. 5. Jace Memory Adept, if he lives, he wins you the game. 6. Fleet Swallower, a Traumatize on a stick. If you have Lightning Greeves or Swiftfoot boots, it can dominate a game. 7. Mind Grind, a commander Mind Funeral, stupidly powerful late game draw. 8. Mind Funeral, for late game finishing it works well, better than Glimpse the Unthinkable and Archive Trap in Commander. 9. Halimar Excavator/ Rites of Replication - Mills 180 cards instantly if you have both pieces of the combo. 10. Consuming Aberration, for the feeling of fielding a creature that routinely is 50+ power and toughness lol. Honorable Mention, Ashiok, who is great combo with mill. Note, I do not run Mesmeric Orb. You can easily mill yourself out and it is a really bad card in EDH, was surprised to see it on your list. It does serious work I Modern control builds, but in EDH, your opponents can easily play around it.

I know you can only have so many honourable mentions, but I would give Memory Erosion some love. another mill engine that doesn't appear threatening but does work over the course of a game.
I would just like to add - Tormond's Crypt. While not a mill card itself, there are a lot of decks that like having a large graveyard. Being able to exile an opponent's graveyard with a zero casting cost artifact can be a life-saver.
best mill combo I know of is "Spin into myth" -> "Tunnel vision", fateseal a creature, then if the opponent doesnt shuffle their deck then you will mill them out with the tunnel vision.
I play a Zombie/Mill deck with Phenax as my commander. Couple weeks back I had a Consuming Abberation with BoneHoard on, milling for 40+ cards a turn. mill doesn't win a lot in my meta, but damn its fun :)
The greatest fun I've ever had with mill was a Mimeoplasm zombie tribal that milled everyone, runing the reanimating zombies and token makers to get a board full of zombies and it also had this super on theme wincon of undead alchemist + all zombie lords + altar of dementia. What I liked the most on this deck is that the combo pieces fit the deck perfectly on the value/beatdown mode.
João Victor Gomes I like the way u think and with what u said about undead don't understand why he's not on this list cause he makes them mill when said zombie does combat damage to that player and it gets really nasty with a mindcrank so now even a 2/2 can mill them 4 and with alchemist now he mills them 8 add to the fact that he says whenever they put a creature from their Library into their graveyard Exile it from any effect that can get real nasty super quick
I have a mill deck starting phenax god of deception. Basically, one of the main combos in there is paradox engine and any creature that has power and toughness equal to some element of an opponent's graveyard. It is just nuts lol.
Oona is better than Phenax for multiple reasons. First off exile is much stronger than putting cards into your opponents graveyard as a decent percentage of the format uses graveyard based strategies. 2nd is if you have a combo to get infinite mana, which there are many, you can basically win on the spot without worry of a player having a graveyard shuffle effect (old big eldrazi being the main culprits). So let’s say you choose not to put any infinite combo in either Phenax or Oona, she is still better because her ability is not a tapable ability so if you have any mana you can start right away. This is also important as running a decent amount of mana rocks and Unwinding Clock means you mill every turn. Then let’s say you have Asnod’s alter out, now you can sac the tokens you create to continue milling. I would also add new Ulamog to the list. Otherwise strong list.
Frozencajun that's exactly why oona isn't in my phenax deck. She exiles the cards, which CAN be better if you are vs a deck with any type of graveyard recurrsion. However, any player who builds a good mill deck will be running a good chunk of graveyard recurring cards of their own. Which is why oona is not always better.
jorden hale tutelage forced me into such a rage that I quit magic for a few months when that was my buddy's standard strategy. I can never forget it haha
was just thinking, (still only at 50% of the vid) i can also just mill myself out and making sure i got that new jace from war of the spark on the field/hand. As some sort of back-up plan.
I use mill as my win con when I want to play Janky cards. I have a Frankenstein theme deck that has a ton of flavor, but the only way it wins is if no one pays attention to my mill cards.
Everyone keeps talking about fraying sanity and traumatize, which is great for instantly killing one opponent. But one really amazing combo that isn't an infinite combo is dreamborn muse+forced fruition. Especially if your opponents have out a thought vessle or reliquary Tower, or anything that gives them no maximum hand size. It's brutal, but it doesn't get as much hate as an infinite combo.
Where's Villainous Wealth? If Mind Grind is on here this should be as well. Exile milling folks and getting free stuff sounds like fun and last night I checked games are supposed to be fun lol.
Consuming aberration is one of my trump cards in my phenax mill deck. (Edit) The only 2 cards not in the deck are #1 and #2. Didn't even make it to the top 3 before the original comment lol
See I got 4 cards in my blue and black that makes it so my creature cant be blocked and i use it on consuming aberration so it ends up doin like 32 damage
I have a Jodah deck that I play that uses Altar as a win con. The deck uses my chaotic board state to make sure the combo goes off, because my Jodah deck drops so much so fast that no one knows what's going on until I explain it. Play the altar Play Zacama Play Yomiji Who Bars The Way (Yomiji puts all legendary creatures in their owners hands instead of in the graveyard) Sac Zac Put her in hand Mill 9 Drop Zac Repeat until everyone is dead, unless someone has a counter spell.
Laggy Potato because his ultimate literally makes a player have a library that is at most 7 cards (unless you have a card that extends your max hand size) which is easy af to mill out
John Corcoran yeah except how many games do you see jtms' ult used? None. He isn't used as part of a mill strategy dumbass. He's played because he can bounce creatures and brainstorm.
Duskmantle guildmage and mind crank = infinite mill
mindcrank and bloodchief ascension = insta-kill (opponents' life total will hit 0 before they're milled out, but it works)
No traumatize ? After the Orb, it's my favorite mill card I play Mill Scarad God. Never seen people get so pissed off and i love it!
I was too traumatized to put it on the list.
Traumatize to k-stone pass turn
I run crypt incursion in my mill deck because it's a nice way to regain life especially in a good mill deck.
This would be my top 10 Mill Deck cards for Commander.
1. Phenax, he is the only Mill Commander other than Mirko Vossk, Lazav, or The Scarab God that you can actually play with. He does serious work, but many games I don't cast him because I find a combo instead.

I play Lazav as a commander - and he's a nasty guy in a mill strategy. No traumatize in the list is a clear miss though.
I just built Lazav. You have your decklisted? Curious as I'm new.. :)
Try phenax, god of deception. The best Mill commander hands down
I'm going more of a control shell with a mill win-con
I’m building one using Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker

Good suggestion
Voidmage Gamer specially because it seems so benign. This card can easily mill all opponents for ten or more cards before they start to notice
I would just like to add - Tormond's Crypt. While not a mill card itself, there are a lot of decks that like having a large graveyard. Being able to exile an opponent's graveyard with a zero casting cost artifact can be a life-saver.
Where Is : Glimp's The
Unthinkable / Breaking &
Entering / Archive Trap /
Tramatize / Mind Funeral ???
Oona is my favorite mill commander. Good way to deal with cards that can't be milled normally.
I Like Jace, Memory Adept,
He Mill's 10 Cards For O...
Another card that is great for this is fleet swallower, him with fraying sanity is a 2 hit combo to kill a single opponent
Just Boots
keening stone plus maddening cacophony
Ashiok and Altar of the Brood
best mill combo I know of is "Spin into myth" -> "Tunnel vision", fateseal a creature, then if the opponent doesnt shuffle their deck then you will mill them out with the tunnel vision.
also; Hinder, Spell Crumple,Vendilion Clique and Psychotic Episode
Oona is just as good as Phenax in many ways since he may be indestructible but if your other creatures get destroyed he can't do anything alone.
i play mill, commanded by lazav or phenax, depending on if i need to fully tilt the mill, or just play it for fun and let my shapeshifters do work
My Scarab God deck likes bit of mill to have targets for his embalm ability.
Omg. Dreamborn Muse and Nekusar. There has to be a way to make this work.
No honorable mention for Ulamog, Ceaseless Hunger? :P
I play a Zombie/Mill deck with Phenax as my commander. Couple weeks back I had a Consuming Abberation with BoneHoard on, milling for 40+ cards a turn. mill doesn't win a lot in my meta, but damn its fun :)

I live mill I breath mill, I plains-walked to the magic universe and joined the Dimir clan. I just love mill.
Write of precinct six is also fun love your list (szadeck and lazav) AND TRAUMATIZE!!!
Arjun, The shifting flame is probably my favorite mill commander. Run a bunch of wheel effects with those crazy enchantments.
I play scarab god as my commander usually. Just mill and take the creatures
I have a mill deck starting phenax god of deception. Basically, one of the main combos in there is paradox engine and any creature that has power and toughness equal to some element of an opponent's graveyard. It is just nuts lol.
Ulamog the new is also very good because he exiles the cards of his own.
Yes he is
Oona is better than Phenax for multiple reasons. Laggy Potato I agree that is why you don’t need it for Oona to still be better than Phenax
agreed that oona is way better
Frozencajun that's exactly why oona isn't in my phenax deck. She exiles the cards, which CAN be better if you are vs a deck with any type of graveyard recurrsion. However, any player who builds a good mill deck will be running a good chunk of graveyard recurring cards of their own. Which is why oona is not always better.
Moral of the long story is put both of them in…
I smacked myself in the forehead when I realized that a sphinx's tutelage needs to be in my deck
jorden hale tutelage forced me into such a rage that I quit magic for a few months when that was my buddy's standard strategy. I can never forget it haha
was just thinking, (still only at 50% of the vid) i can also just mill myself out and making sure i got that new jace from war of the spark on the field/hand. As some sort of back-up plan.
Phenax is my commander, there are many ways to make them unblockable for combat damage btw, related to Mirko Vosk!
Didn't even include the card you used for the background for the video...mind funeral is great!
My friend plays a mill deck. I had to share this video to him
I use mill as my win con when I want to play Janky cards. I have a Frankenstein theme deck that has a ton of flavor, but the only way it wins is if no one pays attention to my mill cards.
Dude, you just saved my Oona deck because I honestly thought she sent cards to the graveyard for some dumb reason.
Traumatize + Fraying Sanity= Game
Everyone keeps talking about fraying sanity and traumatize, which is great for instantly killing one opponent. But one really amazing combo that isn't an infinite combo is dreamborn muse+forced fruition. Especially if your opponents have out a thought vessle or reliquary Tower, or anything that gives them no maximum hand size. It's brutal, but it doesn't get as much hate as an infinite combo.
My friend uses consuming aberration in multiple decks and it gets extremely difficult to deal with.
Where's Villainous Wealth? If Mind Grind is on here this should be as well. Exile milling folks and getting free stuff sounds like fun and last night I checked games are supposed to be fun lol.
traumatize!
"Youre gonna have a huge SOB" damn thats why i miss cmndr void 😢
Lazav dimir mastermind :D
I'm a muldrotha player and my 2 main themes are self mill and mana ramp
Consuming Aberation plus Stolen Identity is OP
Fleet Swallower?
Fleet Swallower + Wonder (Self-Mill) + Lazav, Dimir Mastermind
It's of my favourites
Consuming aberration is one of my trump cards in my phenax mill deck.
(Edit)
The only 2 cards not in the deck are #1 and #2. Didn't even make it to the top 3 before the original comment lol
This list needs to be revisited I think. Bruvac
leyline of the void / helm of obedience
I think of leyline of the void as more of a support card for mill rather than a mill card itself. Helm is very hit or miss. Good suggestions though.
Voidmage Gamer no doubt. I meant both in tandem not as individuals. Exile someone's entire library.
Oh wow that's powerful
Rest In Peace also coincides with Helm as well
Saw top ten mill cards clicked and thought sphinx's tutelage then realized that it said commander and thought I wouldn't see it
altar of the brood with a bounce and into play loop could seal the deal
No mention of Crumbling Sanctuary?
Sands of delirium is another really good mill artefact
No Lazav mention?
See I got 4 cards in my blue and black that makes it so my creature cant be blocked and i use it on consuming aberration so it ends up doin like 32 damage
I have a Jodah deck that I play that uses Altar as a win con.
The deck uses my chaotic board state to make sure the combo goes off, because my Jodah deck drops so much so fast that no one knows what's going on until I explain it.
Play the altar
Play Zacama
Play Yomiji Who Bars The Way
(Yomiji puts all legendary creatures in their owners hands instead of in the graveyard)
Sac Zac
Put her in hand
Mill 9
Drop Zac
Repeat until everyone is dead, unless someone has a counter spell.
I almost spit my food out while I was eating lol 10:56
Keening stone + traumatize 👌🏼
Brody Ruch trade traumatize for fleet swallower so you can get more than one opponent thus way
No Nemesis of Reason? I are sad. You can win in one turn with that dude if you play Mirrorweave.
Most mill decks are mono-blue or Dimir. I've personally never seen an Esper mill deck.
Time to mill myself @Sidisi, Brood Tyrant
No traumatized? No Ashiok? No Jace the fricking Mind Sculpter?
Lmao why would jtms be on the list?
Laggy Potato because his ultimate literally makes a player have a library that is at most 7 cards (unless you have a card that extends your max hand size) which is easy af to mill out
John Corcoran yeah except how many games do you see jtms' ult used? None. He isn't used as part of a mill strategy dumbass. He's played because he can bounce creatures and brainstorm.
No altar of the brood?
Traumatize and altar both could’ve beaten Windborn muse
I might replace Dreamborn Muse with Grindstone.
Startled Awake is *this* close to an adventure
Court of Cunning mills ALL Opponents for 10 EVERY upkeep.
You do know that Traumatize combined with Codex Shredder is a death sentence for the opponent, right? Lol
I don't have a single good mill card, minus traumatize and fraying sanity
Fleet swallower plus fraying sanity =infinit mill
Phenax + Eater of the Dead = ♾ mill
I like Oona better. My Mill deck is a Faerie Tribal/Mill
Altar of thé brood
Tunnel vision. archive trap
Spell crumple followed by tunnel vision. Mill all but one card.
