    I prefer the key and column shifter over the newer electronic stuff

    • @ram89572
      @ram89572 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well to be fair that column shifter is still completely electronic these days. Nothing old school about it really because it is still just running a sensor to tell a computer what to do just like all the newer style shifters. That said I still like a column shifter myself over a damnable console shifter because I don’t need a shifter near my leg unless it is a manual. Column, rotary, or button are all fine with me. Just don’t want a console shifter. As far as the key situation goes, I owned a 2016 Ram 1500 Limited that had a push button start and that was fine too. Was nice to not need to fish a key out of my pocket but meh, could take it or leave it really

    I have a 2018 F-150 and a 2019 F-250 both in this same STX trim package. This is a total slam dunk by Ford. I think the market has been craving a truck with options like this for a long time. It's an incredible 'bang for the buck'.

    I have a 2018 STX...took me forever but I found one with the 3.5 eb, max tow package (I have a 7000lb travel trailer) and the extendable tow mirrors. I absolutely love it. For a "base model" truck, I sure get a ton of compliments on it. I especially like the design of the grill and the 20 inch rims. It may not have all the bells and whistles that a Lariat or higher has, but it has enough to satisfy someone like me who can only afford heated seats and remote start for his wife's car.

      If you have little kids, the tailgate dampiner is a must. Imagine the tailgate slipping out of your hands and hitting your child. Also it's nice for hunting and not having the tailgate slamming at your hunting spot. The oem factory one is cheap and easy to install and is fully hidden.

    Bought a 2019 STX supercab with the 2.7 back in July of 2019. 8K miles so far, and still loving it. Ended up swapping out the stock halogen hi/low beams for LED lights. Made a world of difference in how it looks. The dingy stock halogens were just plain awful. Kind of sad that you have to step all the way up to a Lariat to get the stock LED headlamps.
    The 2.7 is a blast to drive in sport mode. The 10-speed is mated very well to the truck, as it always seems to be in the right gear, and is very quick to kick down several gears when needed. I've been averaging about 20-21 mpg with 80/20 highway/city driving. The truck has seen nothing but 93 octane (except for the initial tank of 87 that the dealer put in it).
    As far as price, mine was listed at a little over $42000, but I was able to get $9000 knocked off of that between rebates and a direct offer from Ford.

Maybe I'm a little old school but I bought a truck not an SUV or sudan, if I wanted push start I would have bought the Explorer for about the same price I paid for the truck. The higher packages had things I don't care for. The STX has just enough extras and I can customize my truck with all the other things I want as I decide I want it so why pay extra for the things. FYI I'm a 5'2" tall female and what really sold me on getting the XL STX over stepping up to the XLT was the higher seat allowed me to see over the hood enough to be comfortable.

    The STX package is a great value, has what you need and gets the job done. The nice black grill and nice wheels really make the truck luck sharp. I feel like GM penalizes you if you go with a cheaper trim by giving you a cheap looking grill and spare tire looking wheels. Add all the Ford incentives for anything and everything and you end up with a truck in the mid to high 30’s. By the way that 2.7 is no slouch. I can see why they are popular. I wouldn’t own one.

    I was shopping for a XL/STX truck until I realized the discounts on the 302A package XLTs are far better. Was able to get $15k off MSRP vs $6-8k on xl/stx. The difference at the end of the day was a couple grand - well worth it. I am usually not a man of creature comforts, however the heated seats and factory remote start are a nice perk in the winter.
    OEM Bedliner can be added to any of the trims - just need to check the box and is a $600 option. Might as well save your money and get a BETTER bedliner (Line-X or Rhino Liner) with a full lifetime warranty. Fords is only covered for the duration if the bumber to bumper warranty - no longer (3yr/36k mi)

    You know for 50 years we had trucks that didn’t have bed liners, didn’t have dampened tail gates, didn’t have bed lights, didn’t have all these fancy towing guides and they did the job. If you want to be a princess get a platinum truck. If you want to be a man, hold the damn tailgate as it comes down. I can’t believe how many people whine about not having a slow released tail gate- it’s a truck, not a g- wagon

    • @Pickuptrucktalk
      @Pickuptrucktalk  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I personally own a '62 C10 which is indeed 50 years old. That tailgate is night and day different than these newer trucks. New trucks have much larger and heavier tailgates thus why the dampened tailgate is such a "whine" for people. :)

    The tailgate is completely removable as well. As you're lowering it, you can pull the whole gate off very easily with little to no effort. I just leased a new 2020 STX 4x4, 2.7L Eco-boost engine (had a 2014 and 2017 4x4 STX before this one), couldn't be happier with it. Solid truck overall...it's been interesting getting used to the 10-speed transmission, having it shift several times before I hit 35-40mph. I didn't realize the transmission was 10-speed before I drove the truck off the lot, but noticed it immediately during the cruise home.

      @ChrisG9978 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@petercervantes7220 It has plenty of pick-up and go, accelerates nicely when you hit the gas, especially in Sport mode. I believe the Eco-boost 2.7L engines have as much horsepower and torque as the previous 5.0L V8's on the same 4x4 STX Super Crew models. On the highway the MPG is decent, 23-25 mpg on the highway in cruise control ~65mph. Great all-around truck, haven't had any major issues with it 6 months in. The back-up cameras however were faulty in a number of 2020 Ford's, including Lincolns, had mine replaced last month under warranty at the dealership. Aside from that, no complaints.

    Our fleet switched to STX because they actually cost less over a 4 year lease because the resale value is higher than an XL, plus we can offer a nicer truck which is a good incentive for the employee. I had the 2018 SuperCab version of this truck in the Magma Red. It was an awesome truck! If I had gotten the full 4 door I would probably still have it. Very much recommend this truck, but get a spray in liner ASAP! My one complaint was the Sync 3 system. Ford sent me a survey about it and I gave glowing reviews. Then there must have been an update... The radio quit completely, thank god for a google search that fixed it. A lot of times i would Olin my phone in and it wouldn’t work. I’d have to unplug then replug it. May not sound like an issue, a few times... but it happened every time unless I waited 5 minutes before plugging it in. Almost like it had vacuum tubes and needed to warm up.

    Thanks for the review. You mention the MSRP quite often, but you don't mention what the actual cost is. Ford offers the most incentives on the STX and XLT, typically at least $10K and often up to $14K or more. STXs like the one you reviewed are fairly easy to find for around $32K. At that price, the stuff like a key and lack of tailgate dampening are not a big deal. I put a dampener in my XLT for about $60. Not quite sure I like it though, the slow opening can be annoying.
