GOW 1 Kratos wasn't even angry, he was a broken man who had made mistakes. Satisfying to see how he went from this to the embodiment of chaos in the sequels and is now a calm and reasonable person who is also a good father figure.
I hate his lastest version. I miss the berseker that he was.

@@dabaruknemuhar1981 biggest flaw with ragnorak was it's final bosses imo. Thor was good but nowhere near what it should've been, and Odin was pretty basic in terms of traveling the arena and such.
I really expected kratos to God completely insane in both fights, going completely berserker oh Thor and even lifting his hammer and smashing it into him a few times. It's only until Thor is a pulp that he stops, and Thor can barely stand. Odin would still kill him though.

@@Awesomeflame16 Second battle with Thor is a bit of a letdown compared to the first one where there's flashing lights everywhere, Kratos gets thrown around like a bag of potatoes, the ground is shattering, there's a giant thunderstorm and the world is going to crack under the pressure of your heels.
That original ending. It was clear that it was intended to be a stand alone game. Thank every Pantheon out there that they decided to build a franchise out of it!
Would have been alright if it ended here, though the prequels were awesome.
I don't think it was meant to be standalone. There's a mural on the ground in one section of the game that foreshadows a fight with Zeus when you interact with it.

I really like how they show how powerful Ares really is.
They do it through out all the gameplay we the players experience through out the hardships before Kratos. Especially on the hardest diffculty.
And if God of War 1 was not hard enough there are two games before it. Ascension and Chains of Olympus.
This character could've gotten more screen time, but the developers usually assume God of War players know a lot about The Greek Pantheon.

On God mode Ares isnt that hard, its more about the part were u Gotta protect your family

And simply recharged the rage by letting ur family getting hit, but not until they die, and after that giving ur health to ur family by hugging them by holding O! Then spam magic again using ROG

They did them differently from what I remember. It was 3d animation and not just the simple shit the ps2 was able to handle. But it holds up fairly well.
Meh, I played it in March 2005 when it was released. The graphics were fine, but I wouldn't say they were AMAZING. Especially outside pre-rendered cutscenes, like in this video.
Metroid Prime came out 3 years earlier and looked way better IMO. Let alone PC games from the time like Half-Life 2.

The quality and the storytelling of the old games are amazing. I also feel the power of Kratos far more than in the new games. Also the fights seem more intense, difficult and powerful. And that ending scene where he sits on the throne and the narrator tells how he is the driving force in present and all future wars (with the images of ancient and modern warfare) is a really cool way of describing the use and the existence of a god of war. Things like these are entirely taken from the new games. The old games really feel like a tale of ancient Greek mythology. and you notice how the new games are made for a broader community even though the story is good, in my opinion the old games are really something else.

Just to remind everyone, up until this point, the circle button has been used exclusively for the finishing moves that execute enemies in brutal ways, and now it’s being used to embrace Kratos’ family and heal them at the cost of his own life. Tells you everything and YOU get to control it.

And in Chains of Olympus, they used it again when Kratos had to FORCE HIMSELF to push his daughter away. The last thing he wanted to do was to leave her side again but Atlas and Persephone’s plot meant Elysium falls too.

All of that was done after Kratos opened it here. It was done out of fear that Kratos would seek to use the power within it, since none of the gods understood what really happened here.
Pandora is only the key to the flame of olympus, not the box itself. In GoW3 the box is protected by the flame, so kratos cant open it without pandora

One thing the GOW series.has always done so well "they've done alot well" was scaling. The first time you see cronos, walking across the sword bridge, crossing into the temple that hides Pandora box. The scaling is fantastic. And in subsequent sequels it only got bigger.
