    - Fly Tampa St. Maarten
    - Real Environment Xtreme
    - Active Camera (to walk around in the cockpit)
    ALL FS2004!
    The startup procedure on the 747 is not as easy as with other airplanes, but this video will show you step-by-step how the startup procedure works. PLEASE note that I might have left some things out, such as checking certain systems or turning on or off some other switches, but this video is purely intended to show how the startup procedure itself works so that you can get your 747-400 to work properly.
    Why didn't I include the FMC programming? This is a whole other subject that would require a seperate and large video. Again, this video is intended to show you the startup procedure of the systems, air conditioning and engines ONLY. This allows you to at least start flying the aircraft, even without any FMC programming.
    How to create a Cold & Dark cockpit?
    - Use the iFly configuration manager, go to My Fleet, select one of your aircraft and select Cold & Dark as startup state.
    Reading tutorials is essential. To learn the startup procedure I have used the following tutorials:
    - The iFly Boeing 747-400 V2 manual that comes with the product
    - smithplanet.com...

    Enjoyed the video, just an important correction, if you were in the real jet or simulator, when you do the Before Start procedure, and you have clearance to pressurize hydraulics from the ground crew, the FO would put #4 Hydraulic Demand Pump to AUX first, and then HYD Demand Pump 1 to AUTO (or AUX if the jet has it) and #2 and 3 to Auto. Doing it in this order pressurizes the normal brake system first and prevents a fluid transfer between systems. Normal Brakes are on system 4, with Alternate Brakes on 1 or 2 systems, so if you pressurize 1 first, the transfer valve will shuttle over and when 4 is pressurized, you could get a transfer of fluid between systems.

    Great video and tutorial. In my honest opinion, if you understand Boeing planes very well and your knowledge of aircraft systems in general is very good, and that you approach a plane in a very logical way, then you would definitely prepare the 747 for flight by yourself. BUT...following the procedures in the form of a pre-flight SOP is the best way to handle the 747. That's what you did good in this video. These planes are made to be operated realistically!

    You might give a thought to checking the fire detection and suppression before starting the engines or the APU so it you have a start malfunction or fire, you know you can see it and do something about it. Everything I've flown so far does that... When I check out on the 747, I expect it to be the same.

    Nice video, just a clarification for your own knowledge. The Safety Check, or Electrical Power-Up procedure as Boeing calls it, is a read and do supplemental procedure procedure which turns the Battery ON, Standby Power to AUTO, Hydraulic Demand Pumps OFF, Windshield Wipers OFF, Landing Gear Lever DOWN, Alternate Flaps OFF, and the Flap Lever and Flap Indication Agree. The Bus Tie Switches AUTO, then AC power can be established with EXT or APU power. In actual line operations, it is rare to do this since the jet is usually powered up and at the jetway by maintenance or by the previous crew's arrival.
    The safety check is designed so there are no surprises like leading edge or trailing edge flaps moving when they shouldn't, or wipers start running on a dry windshield and scratch it, etc. After power is established, then there is a preliminary preflight procedure, which brings the IRU's to NAV, checks STATUS page quantities, the logbook, CB's, Emergency Equipment, the Overhead Maintenance Panel, and the Parking Brake Set if brake wear indicator pins are checked. After this is the FMS-CDU Preflight and then after that is checking the overhead panel in a scan flow that goes from the overhead panel to the side panels, to the Forward Instrument Panel, to the Thrust Quadrant, to the Aisle Stand. Of course, the Captain and FO have specific duties of what they are checking and how they are checking it.

    @Miles Denning It is quite a heavy addon, so I'm not sure if you will get as much framerates as you do with the CS 757. However, they are working on a service pack which is said to improve the performance as well, so you might want to wait for that to see the results!

    The way the fuel system works during preflight is that the pilot checking the overhead panel (usually the FO) will ensure that all X-Feeds are OPEN and all Fuel Pump switches are OFF. During the Before Start procedure, the FO will turn all Fuel Pumps ON for the tanks containing usable fuel. So, if there is no fuel in the STAB and CTR tank, he would not turn these on. If the fuel in 2 is less than or equal to 1 or the fuel in tank 3 is less than or equal to tank 4, then you will see the TANK TO ENGINE message after turning the fuel pump switches, including the Overrides ON. At this point, we would check the Fuel Synoptic to verify it is truly tank to engine and then configure for tank to engine, which would be turning OFF Overrides 2 and 3 FWD and AFT fuel pumps, and closing X-Feeds 1 and 4. You had some question on this, so hopefully this clarifies it. Most of the time, there will be fuel in the Center Tank on the freighter and/or fuel in the Center and Stab tanks on a passenger jet since this jet is normally not doing short distance flights. But, on a ferry flight or some Asian carriers operate some short flights like between Taipei and Hong Kong, you may well have a light fuel load.

    You're turning on too many systems prior to establishing external or APU power. You'll wear down the battery too fast that way. Also you should disconnect External power from Ground prior to start (Start is usually done during pushback on APU power)

    • @AviationPro
      @AviationPro  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      tf51d Yes I guess you mean the utility switches, actually they should have been turned on after external power was connected. As for the engine start, yes, normally ground power is disconnected and you use the APU to start the engines during pushback. Sometimes engines are started at the gate in case external air is needed due to an APU failure or problem, in that case ground power would still be connected as well.

    What does it mean if an engine only powers to 2.6 or 2.7 N1? I have refueled all fuel tanks and have all fuel pumps active, and APU running, but an engine shows an orange outline on the fuel status display and does not want to power up fully.. ? Is this a bug in FS2020 or is there something I should be doing to address this ?

    5:20 - You definitely do not want to turn on those guarded switches - those are for fuel jettison only and that is why they are guarded. You also do not need to crossfeed unless the inboard L/R tanks have more fuel than the outboard L/R, this is to ensure balance between each side and that engines #1 and #4 do not get fed empty tanks when the inboard tanks still have fuel.

    • @nuothe11th
      @nuothe11th 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      again at 10:35, the OVRD fuel pumps are not required - with the jettison feeds on you are now spraying fuel all over the tarmac :P

    • @AviationPro
      @AviationPro  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the info! But the jettison feeds are not on, so I guess fuel will not be flowing all over the tarmac :P

    Well, all you have to do is turn fuel pump 1, 2, 3 and 4 on xfeed 1 and 4 if you have less than 50KGs x1000 of fuel, turn then all except the stabs when you have more than 59l0 KGs of fuel

      Wael Soliman Thanks! I think I actually completely forgot that switch and I'm not sure what it does, but apparently it works irregardless. And about that video, what do you mean exactly? About how it performs on the framerates?

    • @WaelSoliman
      @WaelSoliman 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      AviationPro No I don't mean the framerates but I mean how is the realistic in climb , descend and landing phases?

    • @AviationPro
      @AviationPro  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think very realistic, although I still need to test it more by making more flights myself ;)

    Alweer een prima video, ik heb alleen een vraag: is er een kans dat u een video upload met een vlucht in de erj 135/145?Dat vind ik persoonlijk een heel tof vliegtuig, en het vereist een beetje andere skills omdat je geen VNAV hebt en geen auto throttle.

    • @AviationPro
      @AviationPro  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tim Hoppe Thanks! Klopt, het is een vliegtuig waar ik ook graag in vlieg, juist omdat je zelf echt wat meer moet vliegen in plaats van alleen maar autopilot, dus misschien ga ik hem wel gebruiken voor de volgende VATSIM video. Eerst nog eentje met een 737 binnenkort ;)

    I have a quick question about my system specs and this aircraft. I was looking for a good 747 for FS2004 and this looks very superior to the PMDG 747. I was looking into getting it but see it requires some things I don't have, but I am able to run other products at 30-40 frames that require 3+ GHZ such as the Captain Sim 757-200. My specs are below:
    OS: Windows 7 64x
    Processor: Intel Core i5-2520M CPU @ 2.5 GHz
    Ram: 8GB
    Video Card (Heres where it comes down to.): Radeon HD 6470M

    • @captainshipman7377
      @captainshipman7377 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Quinn The 747 has an autostart switch I believe, which he presses during the video. This allows computers to automatically introduce fuel into the system just as long as the fuel switches are turned on

    Hey Mate, its wonderful... But i have one prob. Everything in my flight works fine, until i takeoff. After takeoff, i receive following warning on ECAM..
    1. Auto-throttle Disc(Though mt A/T is armed)
    2.Bleed Air 2 off,
    3.Bleed Air 3 off,
    And gradually hell lots of such warnings. Fuel flow to ENG will stop, and my flight will stall... Any suggestions?

    • @AviationPro
      @AviationPro  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrPrateekpanda Thanks! You probably disconnected the autothrottle, it can be armed but still disconnected. And bleed air means you have not set the air conditioning properly. And all the other stuff, well, I don't know, it could also be a faulty installation of course!

      +FilmpowerNorway I'm not sure what you are talking about. This is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 with the iFly 747-400 V2 addon installed. This has nothing to do with X-plane ;)

      +Nicolas Navarrete That shouldn't be happening. It is raised for about 3 degrees, but not a lot. Are you sure you are not flying too high for your weight?
