- This video walks through how to start the Boeing 747 from a cold & dark state. You can use this process with X-Plane for your desktop computer as well.
This was recorded in an early preview for X-Plane 10 Mobile version 10.8, so there are some small bugs that didn't affect the actual start up. - เกม

**NOTE FOR PEOPLE TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT: Pretty sure X-plane mobile’s 747 cockpit is broken. If you follow these steps the engines will not start. X-plane developers probably wont fix it. Better to just cut our losses and start with the engines running.**

1 year later and I don't think we have it yet. Development on xplane mobile is slow. If I were you and your device is good enough I would switch to aerofly FS 2021

My engines won't start. Everything looks fine apart from the center fuel pumps which say "PRESS" underneath the on symbol. I don't kniw why but nothing happens when I press the ignition.

Well first a update of the A320

As of December 2023, the engines for the 747 on mobile won't start, despite having closely followed the steps in this video. A year-old comment corroborates this fact. I was unable to achieve engine rotation on the CRJ-200 as well. To summarize my findings:
Jet airliners where engines CAN'T start:
- CRJ-200 (I actually couldn't find an official tutorial from X Plane -- however, I closely followed multiple online guides, and it didn't work).
- 747-400
Jet airliners where engines CAN start:
- 737-800
- MD-80 (Just tested it -- it works, but you need to hold the ignition switch for around 10 seconds).
Jet airliners without a fully-functional VC (so therefore you can't start engines):
- A320
- 777-200ER
Unfortunately, this has been an issue for some time, and I doubt it will get fixed anytime soon. I tried reaching out to customer support about the CRJ, but they did not respond. If you want a jet airliner with a functional cockpit from where you can start the engines, the 737 and the MD-80 would be the only options I'm afraid.
I Suggest using a Real Life Startup Procedure Checklist 🤷🏻♂️
@@JocularHunterOfficial Hi Jocular--first of all, a checklist by itself wouldn't help you start an aircraft such as a 747. Real-world airline pilots use memorized flows to manipulate individual switches and knobs. The checklist's purpose is to ensure that the pilots have properly done the essential steps AFTER they have carried out the appropriate flows. But I guess that is all just semantics.
While I am admittedly not well-versed in the systems of the 747-400, I am quite familiar with the procedures regarding day-to-day operations, at least in a flight simulator context. Unfortunately, the issue with using a real-world "checklist" with the default 747 is that the mobile app doesn't simulate key elements of the startup sequence, such as IRS alignment, turning off the packs, setting autobrake to RTO, turning on the cabin signs(!), to name a few. Even if you do follow real-world flows with these steps omitted, you'll still find that it is impossible to get a successful engine start.

Is there a better way to zoom out? I've downloaded the demo version for now and when I'm in both the 747 and 737 I feel like I'm sitting with seat rammed all the way forward into the control column. Even when i try to zoom back fully.

do you have to remember all of these steps when becoming a pilot or are you always following a check list?
you always do it by checklist, but it will be more automatic as the time goes by

You do it by memory in steps, but you use the checklist to confirm after that everything has been completed. Eg after start items, than you will do the after-start checklist to confirm you have done everything.

Hello, this doesn't work for me. The engines die after I turn off the apu selector. Even if I don't turn anything off, the engines spin but they don't do anything. Please help

Hi, I am able to start engine 1 and 2, but when I try to start 3 and 4, the n2 level stops at 30 and caps there, I am unable to start engine 3 and 4 after so many tries. Anyone know what’s the problem?

If you can start up a 747 you can easily do a 737, just as they say "if you can fly a 737 you can do a 747 if that then a 777 and so on.

did you switch on your fuel switches? press the cont ignition. all bleed air valve switch on. turn off high flow packs.
Check if your failure tabs are all switched to working

Which orange light?
If it is the orange found on the labels then try to turn on the overhead panel lighting. Bottom left corner, 2nd from the left and rotate to the right.
Also you dont have to turn on the lights in daytime
yeah there is a button for that
connect the bus tie switches. the orange light wont turn on because of the new update of xplane. so the way only to fix this is to connect the bus tie switches. if the orange light still wont turn on. set the overhead panel light to max. if its still dosent work. xplane 10 mobile may have a problem

This is all really confusing. I came here because after takeoff my 747 keeps on heading upwards and doesent face nose down at all
Fix your trim. Put it on neutral if you have to and remember to bring flaps up after takeoff.
