    I started a junk Removal company 6 months ago and I’m low key scared at having a second crew of people doing jobs without me on site. I just know they wouldn’t think like me and do jobs differently. Also I wouldn’t know if they were s lacking or not on the job to get that extra hour. Another reason would be they are the face of your business so having great communication skills with customers is hard to come by in workers at my age. I’m 20 years old and I’m pretty good with people because I’ve worked dealing with customers for the past 6 years. How did u get over this maybe fear or have you not thought about it much?

    • @SteveConroy1
      @SteveConroy1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There came a point where I didn’t have a choice. I was turning down business and needed more help. Like I said in the video, I got a second job now which is hiring new employees. It sucks because nobody cares about anything besides the pay check at the end of the month. I’ve found a crew that works hard, respects my business and understands customer service. Do I have to reprimand them and show them what they did wrong and how to fix it? Every day. But they want to learn and grow and that’s why all of the effort is worth it.

    • @SteveConroy1
      @SteveConroy1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a terrible way to look at your situation! You want something that can be fixed more easily? You should be working towards something that doesn't need to be fixed at all! If there is a repair shop that does not fix your truck, then you went to the wrong shop. I have never heard of this before. Find a place that services commercial trucks and you'll be fine. You are about to the point you need an office manager that can handle invoices, pre screening new hires, scheduling, payroll, and taking calls for jobs ect. And it’s a hard role to fill you are basically turning the business over to them. And they are an expense not an asset. But the organization they bring is well worth it. And will become an asset in the long run.
    It’s a great place to be, but scary. It’s hard to give up that control. But in order to grow your going to have to.
    As a director that manages 2 teams in 2 different hospitals it’s hard to trust people to do what’s needed and it was my biggest flaw I wanted the control.
    I do envy you I want to work for myself. I hate the politics at work now. Granted I know it will never go away completely. Our environment is really toxic and I need to do something different.

    • @SteveConroy1
      @SteveConroy1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you're in business people generally understand that you are competing with the bigger franchises (which is why your prices should be relatively similar to theirs) and assume you are going to be offering the same size. If you do not look professional, you're going to get kick back from customers pretty often, asking, what kind of truck you have, how much space you hold etc. I always tell them off the bat what size trucks we have and all of our parameters before even talking about their quote or job. This makes them comfortable with me, they know I'm not hiding anything. The LAST thing you want to do is rope in a customer and then show up with a truck that's half the size they thought it was. Waste of your time and theirs.
