    It's like they're doing for FX boxes what they're doing for analog synths. Finally we can get the sounds that made these things famous rather than "new and improved" versions that lack any soul as the big name brands have been churning out. And it costs half price or less! Luckily guitarists tend to be bigger snobs about the brand so it's a well kept secret!

    People think bc behringer is cheap it sucks but in fact they only a lot of chip companies that all the other pedal guys get their chips from. They are amazing pedals. They have killer tube pedals also

    Sounds nice, kinda wish I had bought one. I have a Dod FX20 which aint too bad though. I have the Behringer Big Muff clone, great pedal, but I had to rehouse it as it was too big, and basically a box of fresh air.

    For 30 bucks, can't be beat... does yours have a loud "POP" when turning it on or off? I did notice some kind of pop when you went from dry to effect... the one I bought pops loud when it is turned on or off...

      Most of them are in a cheap mostly plastic housing so I leave behringers on all the time same with Danelectro

    I think a phaser should be reviewed clean, before distortion, and after distortion to get the whole picture of the unit.

    Hmm, when you talk about the switch you mention the "delayed" signal. Phase shifting and delaying aren't quite the same thing, if this pedal was using a delayed signal it would be a flanger.

    • @RyanLutton
      @RyanLutton  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RyanLutton It's cool, just being nerdy. I guess the person writing the manual got confused.

    • @reuben433
      @reuben433 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does a phaser move the signal in and out of phase? And is the rate how fast it does that?

    • @eyeball226
      @eyeball226 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@reuben433 A phaser uses all-pass filter stages to introduce a phase shift in the signal. An LFO moves the corner frequency (the frequency that is 90 degrees out of phase) up and down. At the end of the string of all-pass filters the phase shifted signal is mixed with the dry signal causing cancellation at certain points. There's also usually a feedback loop ("colour" control) to make the sound more intense.
      A flanger also creates cancellation, but in a very different pattern. A flanger delays the whole signal and creates a comb filter which has many many notches, a phaser only creates a few big ones. You get one notch for every 2 all-pass stages.

  • @cozmovox
    @cozmovox 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The phaser sounds wonderfull indeed, but when switched off it will simply destroy your sound, because it hasn't got a true bypass, which makes this thing pretty useless......like all behringer pedals....I've noticed that it takes away high frequencies from the original signal when not engaged....

    • @Elkesar1
      @Elkesar1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mode mine to TB and like it more than original :)

    • @cozmovox
      @cozmovox 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It should have been TB from the beginning.....but I also noticed that the phaser was better than the new ehx smallstone (which broke down on me and thus was a piece of CRAP).

      on the bass guitar doesn't really matter, save a few bucks to put towards another pedal yay :)

    • @jh7344
      @jh7344 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I think the new ones (2019) are true bypass. At least the signal passes straight through the pedal without any power (I.e no battery or adapter plugged in. I don't think that's possible if it's not true bypass? Could be wrong.) Also, I can not hear the tone being affected.

    • @chrispouflis7331
      @chrispouflis7331 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jh7344 I just tested mine and yep with no power it passes signal, then if you stomp on it again acts as a mute switch so TB.
