    I have 8 Behringer effects and the two you are reviewing and they are amazing for the money and have very solid plastic casings.

    I wanted to experiment with a phaser pedal, an effect I rarely use, to see if it was worth splashing out on a MXR or something more expensive. I'd read a lot of good things about the Vintage Phaser VP1 so I bought one with the idea that if it wasn't very good I haven't lost much money. I was really pleasantly with it. I totally agree with what the video says about the build quality, for the price it's a very sturdy metal unit. The nice thing about the actual effect is that it provides some very usable sounds, some low end effects can be too over the top but this unit can give you some subtle tones if you want them. Of course, you can go to the extreme if you so wish. I'm so pleased with the VP1 that I don't have any immediate plans to upgrade and it sits quite nicely with more expensive effects on my pedalboard.

      I saw it as a phaser that I would replace as well... But I like it too much!

      @@guitar_george Yes, the biggest problem with the pedal is the stigma of buying a Behringer. If you can get over that you can get a lot of pedal for very little money.

    Hi George. I have the fx600 and it was better than i expected it to be. It's an affordable way to find out which modulation effects one might like. If the Behringer cases really bother anyone, TC electronics are owned by the same people. They make metal cases for a little bit more money.

  • @craigzimmermann6600
    @craigzimmermann6600 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It seems like it. I have a Skysurfer Reverb (by TC Electronics) that seems like a similar build (to the VP-1) and I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that TC Electr. had upgraded Behringer pedals (at some point not too long ago - from plastic boxes, etc.) and the Skysurfer, which BTW sounds great, was one of the results. Again, it is the heavier built box (like the VP-1 Phaser), etc. Neat stuff and I definitely don't mind saving $100 (or more) on a pedal that sounds and behaves just as well as the better known high end ones. :-)

  • @blackf9068
    @blackf9068 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Could seem weak due their plastic enclosure, but I can say that they can resist a regular use with no issue, unless you use to activate your pedals jumping over them, then maybe this don't be your kind of pedals. I recomend you try the Ultra Vibrato UV300, some Behringer pedals has become collectible like the Reverb Machine and Echo Machine, if you have the opportunity of get one, don't doubt about it. I just bought an used Ultra Tremolo/Pan TP300.

    I never heard anyone complain about the Ibanez plastic pedals back in the day. To damage these you'd have to be some kind of idiot, but then again a bad workman usually blames his tools. Nothing wrong with the Behringer range it seems to be snobbery on price and labels.

    The VP1 sounds like I expect a phaser to sound (not all of them do). Having passed that test, I have three questions: 1) Do you hear a pop when the switch is operated? 2) Does the noise floor become much more noticeable when the effect is switched on? 3) Does the effect bleed through when it's switched off (i.e., can you still hear the phasing, very quietly, in the background)?

    • @guitar_george
      @guitar_george  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great questions! Just did some testing for you now and I didn't find any of those to be an issue. My biggest problem with it is the pedal is very large for what it is. If you have the room on your board it's a great phaser otherwise

    • @TheCyberMantis
      @TheCyberMantis 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Funny you say that, he just had it set wrong. He admitted he doesn't know what to do with a pitch shifter. I got it to make a great Chuck Schuldiner tone. The FX600 is great for the money, but some of the effects kinda suck. The delay sucks because it won't go slow enough. The flanger needs a hi-cut filter, and the phaser sounds wonky. The chorus is great, the tremolo is good, and I think the pitch-shifter is actually good, if you know how to set it. So for $37.... it's a bargain. Plastic case doesn't bother me. I'm not going to gig with it.
