- A much needed video in order for me to adjust my sails and discuss the situation. Retirement for many people is going to be difficult. But it doesn’t have to be. Please enjoy watching. #travel #retirement #retirementplanning #goals #god
I lost over $80k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. It just taught me to be a better investor now that I understand more of what could go wrong. It took me over two years of being in the market, I'm really grateful I found one source to recover my money, at least $10k profits weekly. Thanks Brittany Utley
Wow. I'm a bit perplexed seeing her been mentioned here also Didn’t know she has been good to so many people too this is wonderful, I'm in my fifth trade with her and it has been super.
The very first time we tried, we invested $2000 and after a week, we received $9500. That really helped us a lot to pay up our bills.
You trade with Brittany Utley too? Wow that woman has been a blessing to me and my family.
I'm new at this, please how can I reach her?
I was skeptical at first till I decided to try. Its huge returns is awesome. I can't say much.
Read the social security act. It was never supposed to be a retirement. It's only purpose from the very beginning has always been to provide a stop gap to ASSIST in retirement. I can't figure out why people don't understand that.
@@christopherbradley5575 Thank you. I wish we had this conversation 50 years ago.
@dannystravelvlog I get it. There is a whole list of things I wish I had paid attention to when I was younger. Sometimes, "live and learn" is a painful process. For me, it's relationships.
I’m 62 and retired 2 years ago. Seven days later I arrived in Thailand from Washington state and have settled in Jomtien. I wouldn’t want to be here with less than $2K a month. Don’t forget to factor in MEDICARE to the tune of about $175 a month coming out of your security check once you turn 65.
@@storekeeper I’m a veteran, so I get my health care that way. Maybe that might be different for me.
Hi Danny, I just came across your channel. I'm 65 and took early retirement four months ago. I am presently living in HCMC Vietnam. My 401k got decimated due to poor decisions that I made. No one to blame but myself. Presently, I really just have my monthly social security check to live on. I've always wanted to live somewhere in SE Asia and living in Vietnam on just my social security allows me to have live a decent lifestyle and put away a little for some savings. I would definitely have to work part-time somewhere for the rest of my life just to make ends meet if I stayed in the U.S. I'm quite happy living here, but I know the Philippines is also another great option.
@@dgriffin6650 nice to meet you here my friend! Hopefully I can buy you a coffee one day. I will definitely visit Vietnam also someday
Just found your channel and subscribed. I'm still working in the U.S., but exploring potential retirement spots around the globe in hopefully the next 10-12 years. Looking forward to following your adventures.
@@ericg9092 welcome to my channel! You got about 60 videos to catch up on. But I promise you I will make more videos
Best of luck to you my friend. Godspeed
@@jamesmarsh8707 And also to you. Thank you!
Truly is, america is good only if you are still working but if retirement comes your lifestyle changed. That’s the reason why when my husband pass away i decided to come back and living here in the philippines , my home country. Anyway I live alone, and i have lots of freedom living alone, and i just did a simple living, eat filipino foods and hang out with some relatives and friends, and most of all free from stress. I’ m a country girl so living in the province of cebu in the southern part is fun and enjoyable, i have my own space and have my own time.
@@timotearochford3186 Thank you so much for understanding! I would like to visit your province one day
I wished I could have reached retirement. But my injuries forced me into disability eight years ago. I would have rather finished on my terms rather than wake up in a hospital room and come to the realization your professional life is over. Then on top of that, trying to live in America on SSDI. I thank God daily for the Philippines. If not for this country, I easily would be homeless. When you're a single man with no children, our social services take a dim view at you. But here in the PH, I can live a modestly comfortable lower middle class lifestyle. You got a taste of what life can be here Danny. Just keep focusing on that goal and you can finally enjoy life as well.
@@lcmichaels7215 you’ve got that right my friend! I don’t have any other plans. Looking forward to meeting you when I get there.
I always watching your channel friend.

Thanks for the video Danny. I too live in Massachusetts. We pay way too much in taxes!!!
@@Brad1237202 that’s a fact!
Enjoy it in the Philippines.
@@PapaOsmubal.OscarBalajadia thank you! I did enjoy my first time there this past February. And I plan on going again as soon as possible. One day I will live there full time.
We are in NH and it's not much cheaper than MA. Prices up here have gone nuts.
@@OurRetireEarlyJourney Basically anywhere in America is tough. Much tougher than our parents and grandparents had to deal with. I don’t see it changing anytime soon either
@@dannystravelvlog it’s only going to get worse. We are “overshooting” our retirement savings just for that reason.
I hope the Philippines works out for you. Yes it would be nice if social security could replace our pre retirement income but to do so it would be incredibly expensive taxation wise. In simple terms if the typical person works for 40 years and is retired for 20 would require the social security tax rate to be about 33% of income. Currently I think its about 6% plus another 6% from your employer so there is a big shortfall here and this is why social security will be roughly a third of your pre retirement income. Yes you have to plan around this.
Good information. Thanks
The reason is "Inflation" the fact that our currency has been debased by excessive money expansion in the last few decades is the reason why we have so much rampant inflation, so now to retire some folks have have opted to live outside of the US to survive. The only reason this is possible is because of the floating currency exchange rates, and how much further the USD goes in other countries in SE. Asia. I am also considering to relocate to a Thailand, where my mother resides and my birthplace in about 10 years.
Sounds like a great plan! Maybe I will visit you
Good Luck 🍀
In a similar situation here in Canada, 64 yrs old male , married to a filipina & fortunately we have a house in Manila, have a modest/decent pension and a house to sell here in he Vancouver area which will pad our savings account so feel blessed for sure.
Can't w8 to get back there, Canada is to expensive, to cold & crime is on the rise. Good luck to you with your situation !
@@danramsay5844 maybe I can look you up one day in Manila
I believe what you say is true. I moved here from Massachusetts myself born and raised in the Bronx and then the last 25 years in Massachusetts, but I’m here in the Philippines now in the province a never leaving.
@@angeloboria9750 You are living proof that my dream can come true!
Hello Danny! I’m in somewhat of a similar situation as you. I’m Canadian living and and teaching English in Japan for going on 15 years now. I felt I was forced to leave Canada in 2011 due to a drastic change in the job market in my profession. Now, being away from Canada for so long, I could never afford to return to Canada mainly due to the exorbitant real estate prices. I also likely can’t retire in Japan since I may not qualify for permanent residence, especially at my age of 60. Therefore, my future plan is to relocate to the Philippines - the same as you! God bless. David.
@@ShikokuFoodForest I admire your life and your choices. Hopefully you can find comfort in the Philippines. There are many great places and the people are amazing.
@@dannystravelvlog Hi Danny. Thank you for your kind message. First time ever, anyone has told me they admire my [decision to leave Canada and create a new] life [for myself] here in Japan. I’ve got a lovely, traditional Japanese-style home on a hillside with a forest to the north and 180-degree mountain views to the south. I also designed and created a food forest on my property. Unlike what I hear about the Philippines, the Japanese are extremely private people and in general are not interested in developing relationships or friendships with foreigners from my experience in Southern Shikoku. My life in Japan has not come without sacrifices. After going on 15 years, I do not have a single friend in Japan and spend all my free time outside of teaching on my own. It’s not necessarily negative, just the way it is here. I enjoy several hobbies and exercising and have learned to appreciate my peaceful surroundings at home. Social isolation is my primary motivator to eventually leave Japan. FYI, I visited New England and in particular Boston and Cambridge (Harvard & MIT). I almost moved to Acton.
@@ShikokuFoodForest I have friends in Acton. Whatever path you choose, I hope to meet you someday. Isolation is our enemy. Life is meant to be shared and enjoyed with other people.
@@dannystravelvlog I’ve got to add, I’m an Environmental Engineer and just so happened to arrive in Acton in April on Earth Day in the 1990s. There happened to be an Earth Day celebration in a local park there. I met so many people and everyone I talked to was very friendly and each one told me how I was so much needed to help protect the earth. Fast forward to today and the earth is very much in a very real, worrisome crisis situation with global warming, worldwide drought and fires. We’ve passed all the tipping points now. Did you know the Amazon River is drying up for the first time ever? We don’t even know if it’s reversible at this stage. For the first time, people can walk across the Amazon River basin from Brazil to Peru. I’m in touch with experts that have written proposals outlining how we can cool the earth within 20 years IF the right ACTION is taken. This is something I research, study and network with people globally on here in the countryside of Japan while listening to the wind blowing and birds singing around my property. Sure, I look forward to meeting in the future. Keep well. Maintain a pure heart.
you know it Danny. 57 myself, don't have shit and have worked well over 40 for most of my life, of course I spent years making bad choices but not that bad. I'm ok with working more but also ready to be outta here and head over to VN, Cambodia or Thailand or all and teach a bit to supplement the little I'll have but living there might make it not too bad. Gotta think out of the box. Maybe I need a channel too!
@@lilart1968 TH-cam channels are not easy. You got five years to build up a nest egg. Once you get to Southeast Asia your social security will be just fine. But build that nest egg so you can have money to get started with.
Man I'm not religious, I live next door to you in Connecticut lived here my whole life 59 years, everything had gotten so expensive in the ladt 5 years it's CRAZY!!!!!! Man been working my entire life paper route at 10 yo worked for my dad mid teens after school, own an auto/diesel machine shop 36 years here in CT, own some properties got some money now, but I don't think I will ever retire, it takes a lifetime to make and KEEP a decent amount of money!!! And like your saying who knows how much will it cost to 😂support yourself next year or the year after???? I've traveled to quite a few countries over the years, never been to the Philippines, it looks nice, who knows maybe someday I will visit, do you have any recommendations where to go?
