After all the #vanlife videos I’ve watched I automatically wonder about any high-roofed, generic white van sitting on a quiet street in the early morning, particularly if it has blackout curtains behind the cab. Out with my dog this morning I said, loudly but cheerfully, “good morning, vanlife people!” as we walked by.
Jarrod Tocci Calgary, Alberta. Inner city heritage neighbourhood, next to a park. I really wanted to knock on the door and tell them what gave them away: it was the unpainted homemade frame in front of the curtains. But, then again, who but someone (vicariously) acquainted with vanlife would have noticed?
Jarrod Tocci there was another one on our block today. It made me laugh - a gray Mercedes Sprinter obviously trying for stealth. They would have achieved it if not for the National Parks pass on the rear view mirror and homemade seat covers. You should do a video on the small things that make a van un-stealthy.
This was another great Van to find and showcase! He clearly convinced me to choose the diesel Pro Master for my dream rig. His van is built with a clear purpose and capability of Boondocking which makes it an even more compelling design.
This is the best setup promaster I have ever seen. Thanks to you both for showing us. Love the practicality of it. Can only imagine how great the next one turns out for him.
Love this build. I have discriminating dual doors my whole life, but its genius for cross ventilation and also when You have the kitchen on that side, to get gas- and grey tanks in'n'out that way. Not to talk about the toilet business. I am going to take a serious thought about if my next van,m the last resort, will be a dual door van.
Finally someone considering weight!! Most of the time I'm smh at the tile and hardwood... like you're paying for that everyday, forever. It would really suck to do this and then be too short on cash to go anywhere.
Kathryn Cleveland funny you said that a year ago was watching van builds and van videos I ended up buying a condo in Florida now I’m thinking of getting a van especially after seeing this one. Condo life in Florida got real boring real quick
Build a tent section that folds out from the second sliding door for extra sleeping or lounging space. Cut a full-sized foam mattress into three 25 inch pieces. Stack them into a loveseat when the slider is closed. Bed pillows make the sofa back. Lay them out into the "annex" for a guest room.
Nice van. We keep saying we're going to self build. Only thing is we ended up spending 44 grand on our T6 campervan having it converted. I know we'd end up spending way too much money. Great tour of the van
for the spice rack, I would make a narrow drawer beside the sink. This way if you where cooking inside you have access, but if you when you are cooking outside you also have access.
Very impressive build. The duel sliding doors are pretty darnn cool. I'm particularly impressed with the focus on weight savings though. I'm sure this baby's getting scooped up faster than a bowl of spaghetti.
So nice 2C your sink is covered. 😊I can't stand seeing it [regardless of how nice or fancy a faucet it has] the moment the door is opened. 😶 Happy Travels. 🙋♀️
I have a promaster 136 with dual sliding door and having a bitch of a time trying to figure out cabinets and storage! So used to seeing all those overhead cabinets on the single slides. I think this, in a smaller scale, will probably work! And the airflow will be awesome. Great, simple build.
Anyone else watching this during the pandemic laughing that he’s selling it so he can do more international travel? I’m dying to reach him from the future and say “everyone is buying vans because we aren’t allowed out of the country!” 😂
Great van. I missed seeing the garage. I didn’t get the pantry being accessible from the outside while cooking, because the cooking he then does on the other side as he shows, so the accessible pantry is then on the wrong side of the van and he’ll have to walk around the van each time he wants to get something... anyway, it looks great. Tfs.
The logic could be it is STILL better than having to step up INSIDE the van with dirty shoes or take it off each time, just to get something from the Pantry.. #YoureWelcome😁
Could be. But if the weather is nice enough to cook outside, I'ld be wearing slippers which are very easy to put on or off, plus I'ld have everything I needed for cooking outside on hand in advance anyway… But thanks for your answer. It would just really annoy me to have to walk around the van for everything I would need, so I guess I would put everything I needed on hand anyway before I would start cooking. Thus outside access to my pantry on the wrong side of the van would be no use to me. But I guess everybody has his or her personal preferences in what is or is not useful to them.
That is a gorgeous build 😍. Wishing I didn't live in the middle of the country so I could find maritime builders to learn from. Just very nice 👌and liveable. Didn't see the garage... Bet it's every bit as sleek and logical.
Great layout!! I'm building my Promaster out with almost the exact same vehicle (it's a gas engine though, and white). Was thinking of putting the entrance on the driver's side, because I've got one of the few vans that can!
Esther StrategicAdvisor lol a perfect example on how I couldn’t even pay attention in English class... btw who really gives a shit? Imagine if ya grammar jockeys put that much attention into getting us to mars 🚀 haha
This is a really beautiful, minimalist build. I’d love to know how he makes a living. I’m always curious about that but especially when someone has really top of the line everything.
I’m always amazed at the number of van lifers that work remotely and/or making a living from social media. Then there are those that have built their vans with like 75% recycled materials or finds from other people trash or garages. The number one amazement are the number of people whose dads or relative or best friends that have the skill sets to help them with their van built. Some of these people are living their best lives. Kudos to them.
What are those black bars on each side of the van? Like magnetic slider bar for hanging stuff? I wish they touched more on that cuz it’s something unique that I haven’t seen in other builds
Yeah, Jarrod breifly mentioned the L track, but then there was a jump cut and they never touched on it more. It is standard in adventure wagon kits and L track is used a lot in aviation and with people hauling motorcycles. It's quite expensive of course.
Love it, functional and amazing build. For my purpose it doesn't fit . it says look at me. I want to blend in like a delivery truck and be left alone. Hell, if I saw that thing in a parking lot I'd go up to it and start a conversation how nice it is
They are NOT making this the way you got it anymore. I sure wish they did NOW. I am a traveling person to the core missing it because of the decisions I’ve made. I’m back on the road again in 2021, Lord willing !! Your van is amazing!!! blessings
I really love the whole front section of the van. The only thing I would change is the back where the bed is. I would want a proper "office space" with a big desk... I dont need a "garage" space
Amazing van! Great Tour!!! I'm certainly glad I'm not going to be the next person waiting outside the grocery store at his van to ask questions because without this video I certainly would be! Thanks again Jarrod!
i want to see his new van he'll make. been watching your vids for sometime! cant wait to start building mine! van revolution!!! your awesome thanks for making these also, drop some jokes in there haha
I love these. But I wish you would list the specific size/materials. Even if you don’t do links to buy them, it would be helpful to use to search. Because I’m referencing a lot of these videos, and trying to make a mix of what I like. Like what is the countertop material?
Always personal opinion but I've had both and they both have pros and cons. I personally like sprinter but don't like overall cost (upfront and maintenance)
What kind of fan is that? I thought about nest but I called the company and they said that it would not be good for really hot weather or very cold (what happens when you are not in a vehicle in the summer or winter and it is closed up)
Hey, kiddo~inadvertantly saw you on yt w your van. Love the van, and your moxy. Awesome design! The fact he has a standard full size mattress in there is huge! It allows you to purchase practically anything, all the major manufacturers, all the different types. From a Stearns and Foster to a $5000 Tempurpedic and all the way down to just a simple futon mattress for a couple hundy.
Jarrod, thank you. I love the video. Could you please work on having a more consistent camera exposure when filming? It’s really dark most of the video since the door is open and is really bright outside. I find that it detracts from these amazing van tour videos. Other than that, keep it up man.
I think i would eventually build my van in a Promaster (wider bed layout). Question for the experts- for the standard needs inside the van: fridge/freezer, hot water, toaster water, lights, heater, fan, computer/iPad, is it possible NOT to have any solar or propane ? I’m totally new and fascinated by VanLife and would like to transition from couple of days a week and see how I like it. Can I just have Lithium batteries & alternator? So I would like to know if it’s feasible to start dreaming (I mean planning) my build. Thanks for everyone who responds.
great van ....though Holy Christmas! That Victron 300ah battery is the cost of my budget buying a van in Spain (:-o) Yet another great video Jarrod love your work.
Very cool van but you shouldn’t have filmed the majority of the video facing your only major light source (the door) because it made it almost impossible to see things. Think about where the light source is, it should ideally be behind you if possible

You should buy it. I personally love the Murphy bed. No one wants to be caught sleeping when they're in their Work Office Van
dang jerrod this guy is smart and wow what a great van i think this might be my fave so far you have done I wish him well
