That alternate ending wasn’t a dream sequence, it was a flashback showing Miley as a little girl when she was just dreaming about becoming a singer, showing that dreams can come true. Hence the “12 years ago”...

I loved watching Hannah Montana when I was young and it was and still is, so epic!
I knew Jojo who sings Leave Get Out and Taylor Momsem who played Jenni on Gossip Girl were both contenders for the lead role. I also knew her name was almost Alexis Texas. The only one that surprised me was that Miley was underpaid.

When you think about it, Hannah is a continuation of Lizzie McGuire. Middle schooler, in Italy, discovers that she jas it takes to be a pop star. Both had a goofy brother. Dad was helpful, but Lizzie did have a mom in the house. Both girls had awkward moments.

That explained why Disney chose the “Hannah Montana” name instead of “Alexis Texas” in order to prevent confusion with an adult entertainer under that name.
Most people don’t know that The Lizzie McGuire movie inspired Disney to make Hannah Montana.
