Cowboy Boot Styling 101: Which Jeans Look Best?

What style of jeans should you wear w/ cowboy boots? In this video, I'm putting these Western shoes to the test. After trying them w/ pairs from Levi's, MOTHER + more (think: bootcut, straight-leg + boyfriend styles), there are 2 clear winners.
Flares, straight-leg, bootcut, boyfriend or even cropped - which style of denim actually works with cowboy boots? And should the jeans fit outside of the boot, or be tucked in? In this video, I put Reformation's sustainably-made cowboy boots to the test, trying them on with 7 different pairs of jeans, to see which style of denim looks best. To be honest...most styles of jeans did NOT work, and a few were just ok. In the end, there were two standout styles that were clear winners.

Slim fit jeans? I liked the bootcut/straight leather but all the detail of the boots is covered up.

In the early 2000’s we wouldn’t have done straight leg or wide leg with those. Wide leg looks “dressy” (as far as jeans go) and the slim fit are too closed in at the foot. Honestly, boot cut is called boot cut for a reason. Yes, skinnies would be great tucked in and those boots also go with super short cut off shorts.
