Thanks for this! I find it so annoying when some people get mad at people who give advice on what different body types should wear. Because yeah, of course we can all wear whatever we want, but some of us want to wear the things that will look best to the human eye on our proportions. There's nothing wrong with picking clothing types that complement our body types.

I am a short legs, long torso woman as well. I'm glad that I was already following most of the rules in this video. I absolutely hate low rise. One: makes legs look short. Oh this is so helpful! I do have shorter legs and longer torso. I do realized that I look better in an empire waist or higher waisted dress. The same with jeans. Thank you for this video!
Great video. I’m 72 years old, 5’ 5” and have a long torso and short legs too. All of your suggestions I did manage to figure out over all these years and they are all correct. The worst was leggings and long tops! Took me awhile to figure out why some ladies looked great in these but I didn’t! It was my short legs!! I’ve done more hems over the years because of this. Any longer tops I get, I take them up immediately! Wearing heels with slacks always looked best and prevented bunching up at the bottom. I don’t wear heels any more (my ancient feet) but make sure my slacks don’t bunch up. And those low-waisted dresses I loved. But…again a no no! I loved empire waists. All of this without realizing why! So, short-legged ladies…heed this lady’s advice and forget about what’s in fashion at any given moment. Fashions change, so your time will come!! Lol

Now that I have lost weight and care a bit more, I have rediscovered these guidelines and you give me inspiration for outfit ideas and I look like i have lost even more weight than I have. Thank you for your gentle guidance and validation.
Very good points. Some of them I already knew. I am 5' 1/2" tall. One thing I also like is jackets and cardigans that end right at the top of my hipline. I do also wear a lot of neutral colors because it makes the body line longer. I hope that terms makes sense! Thanks very much.
5s in and I'm in love with you. I've been trying so hard to hide my body because I also have short legs. I'm not happy with that fact. But you make me feel more confident so thank you so much. BTW, you look great in those outfits
I loveee the fact that you’re pear-shaped! I needed this so much in my life, I find that a lot of people I see online have a different body shape and it is hard to emulate some styles if when I try them I end up looking awful
I’m pretty petite and have the shortest attention span known to man, your video really hits all the right points for me in pacing and helpfulness!!! Absolutely subscribing =) 💖 Thanks so much girl!
What Not to Wear is a title for a reality show that was on air, maybe 15-20 years ago. The main stars were clothing stylists Stacey London and Clinton Kelly, with a hair stylist and makeup artist to complete the group. The fashion 'victim' was given a certain allowance ($2000? at the time) , and Stacey and Clinton would take them clothes shopping. After that, there would be hair and makeup, and a final reveal. What I liked about the show was they didn't try anything fancy, and the person was given practical advice about how they could continue their 'transformation'.
Glad this popped up in our recommendations (this is a shared account). My mother has the exact same issue (e.g. short/petite, with shorter legs but long torso) and has always had a hard time trying to find clothes and shoes (always with heels, of course) that would flatter her build, since everything these days seems to be made for tall people, but she always asks for my opinion whenever she buys herself new outfits and I never know what to say. I'll definitely have to show her this video. Thanks.
I really like your personality and demeanor. There are so many fashion TH-camrs who I watch one video of and can barely stand them. But you got straight to the point and gave helpful advice and didn’t spend a ton of time talking about yourself or why you havent posted when I have no idea who you are lol will be watching more and subscribing!
This is such great advice! As a short person with stubby legs and a wicked long torso, this is so helpful. Some of these I'd figured out for myself but others were new. (And sorry not sorry, not giving up tunics. Especially during WFH! LOL) Thanks for great, quick, actually USEFUL content!
This is quality content!! Love the comparisons and examples shown, Bethany! Could you do a video showing some chic outfits for home-wear and lounging around the house? It would be so cool to see that.
i’m exactly the same omg. long torso short legs. i’ve always hated it. i’ll definitely take these tips on board. i think i’ve subconsciously done most anyway.
i'm the type who likes to wear oversized shirts paired up with sweatpants. i've been doing it wrong the whole time lol i'll buy myself some high waist jeans then. 👍🏻
I am sooooo happy I found this, I'm 5'2 & I have a longer torso & shorter legs as well. Never hear too many talk about that body type so I'm here for it gurl 🥰
As a 5 foot 2 woman with a 29.75 inch inseam and 30H bra size, I'm constantly looking for things to balance my shape (mainly upper half). I'm a classic hourglass, and although we have different body types, just like all of your videos, this was still extremely helpful. Still want to see a closet tour.
Lol, I'm 4'10 ( got a breast reduction) now I'm a C ( when I was more plump, I had to buy those boxed grandma type PLAYTEX bras 😤🤢 now my waist is 25/26. Nothing ever fits right 😢
I have such a long torso and stupid, stubby legs. I started dieting and working out-I actually went underweight multiple times now in order to shed unwanted bulk from my thighs-but my legs still don’t look good because they’re short.
+1 for high-waisted pants. Besides the optical illusion, long torsos have “taller” hips, so we need the extra rise just to get enough coverage. Ditto for a rounder booty: it takes more rise to cover a curved shape than a flatter one of the same size. I have both, and high rise jeans fit me like mid rise.
I have a pair of high rise jeans that I bought in 2019 but just really started wearing frequently this year. I live in them. They are so sexy and comfortable. Soon people will think it's my uniform.
Yes, all five points are perfect, thank you! Another trick I learned from a French fashion book 25 years ago: avoid long sleeves, because those will draw the eyes downward and kind of cut the body around your hips. Wear instead top with sleeves like you have on in this video, or shorter.
How have I never seen your channel before? I have short legs and a naturally short stride length but a super long torso like I could comfortably have a ruler as my princess seam. I really appreciate this video so much

Dropped waist dresses and skirts were also in style in the 1980's.
Exactly
I have short legs and a long torso so this advice is essential!! Great video.
I am not petit (5’6) but my shape is similar to yours. I had forgotten or ignored all of those tips from my youth when I gained weight. I just bought whatever I could find that fit. Now that I have lost weight and care a bit more, I have rediscovered these guidelines and you give me inspiration for outfit ideas and I look like i have lost even more weight than I have. Thank you for your gentle guidance and validation.
Same here!! And I'm 5'8
Very good points. Some of them I already knew. I am 5' 1/2" tall. One thing I also like is jackets and cardigans that end right at the top of my hipline. I do also wear a lot of neutral colors because it makes the body line longer. I hope that terms makes sense! Thanks very much.
Love it! Short and to the point. Without rambling too much 😘
Omg, i always feel insecure of my short legs and long torso. 😑 Thank you Bethany, you are gorgeous as always ✨
5s in and I'm in love with you. I've been trying so hard to hide my body because I also have short legs. I'm not happy with that fact. But you make me feel more confident so thank you so much. BTW, you look great in those outfits
I love that she mentioned inverted triangle shapes😭💕
I loveee the fact that you’re pear-shaped! I needed this so much in my life, I find that a lot of people I see online have a different body shape and it is hard to emulate some styles if when I try them I end up looking awful
She has a beautiful voice 😭❤️
I’m pretty petite and have the shortest attention span known to man, your video really hits all the right points for me in pacing and helpfulness!!! Absolutely subscribing =) 💖 Thanks so much girl!
Very clear and concise! Love the tips, the samples of What Not to wear and What to Wear! and done in under 5 minutes!. Sweet!
Thanks.
Glad I found this youtube channel. It's factual from beginning to end. It is worth our views.
Your last monochrome outfit looks really great on you !! Love those textures, colors and accessories
That fact that you got right to the point, were very sincere and gave grate tips made me have to subscribe ❤
I am a short legged gal, and have been looking for solutions for my clothing style. This is helping a ton, thanks so much! ♥️
What a beautiful video. Your voice is à therapy, for real it’s so relaxing.
i’m exactly the same omg. long torso short legs. i’ve always hated it. i’ll definitely take these tips on board. i think i’ve subconsciously done most anyway.
Same lol cuz some things just dont look right
i'm the type who likes to wear oversized shirts paired up with sweatpants. i've been doing it wrong the whole time lol i'll buy myself some high waist jeans then. 👍🏻
Where have you been all my life? Seriously I sooooooo appreciate you! Thank you. THANK YOU!
Enjoyed this, Bethany. My wedding dress was high waisted with a short embroidered top over it. It made me look tall, elegant and slim. No mean feat!!!
MY wedding dress settled just under my ribs. And I LOVE that dress!
Thank you, very helpful, looking forward to your next one
+1 for high-waisted pants. Besides the optical illusion, long torsos have “taller” hips, so we need the extra rise just to get enough coverage. Ditto for a rounder booty: it takes more rise to cover a curved shape than a flatter one of the same size. I have both, and high rise jeans fit me like mid rise.
I have a pair of high rise jeans that I bought in 2019 but just really started wearing frequently this year. I live in them. They are so sexy and comfortable. Soon people will think it's my uniform.
Ugh, that dress at 2:43 with those shoes. Flawless.
This is extremely helpful. Also the fact that you are also a pear-shaped makes me happier as I have the same body shape. Thank you for this!
You don't only have a nice shape but also pretty
I have short legs and am a rectangle body shape. Thanks for all the good tips.
Yes, all five points are perfect, thank you! Another trick I learned from a French fashion book 25 years ago: avoid long sleeves, because those will draw the eyes downward and kind of cut the body around your hips. Wear instead top with sleeves like you have on in this video, or shorter.
I'm literally 5'2 I have short legs and I'm afraid of not wearing high waist jeans
SAME, I ALSO SEE UR A MOA!?!! 👀
Soobinnnnnnnn 🥺🥺🥺
I cant go back to normal jeans.
Mid-rise jeans will be a good fit for you. 🙂
I love how TH-cam just knew that I needed this and decided to put it in my recommended🤣
In Indonesia, 155cm is also normal not short for woman
It is heaven for me when I buy pants in Indonesia 😂❤️,,, it fits me perfectly
I wanna go to Indonesia someday
I'm indonesian and I'm 155cm, yet I'm the shortest person in my circle 😭
Ew
@@lilovs9952 ?
The way she styled all her outfits are amazing... So pretty.
Thank you for this amazing video 🤩
How have I never seen your channel before? I have short legs and a naturally short stride length but a super long torso like I could comfortably have a ruler as my princess seam. I really appreciate this video so much
