Any game company is going to try and make money. The point is at the end of the day theres improvements being made to the game and that's good. In addition it seems on the surface that there's a philosophy change in their game design happening, and if they are doing that as a vehicle to make more money and a better game comes out of it, cool, there's still a better game to be played.

Asmongold picked the perfect questions to cover the whole player base, and it sounds like Ion is allowed to talk like a human for the first time in years. I doubt we'll ever fully know what happened at Blizzard, but it smells like a lot of the bullshit came from the very top and we're finally getting away from it.

@@notarthstyle9480 no disrespect, but I couldn't disagree more. I think this was the case in 2016, but the way he carried himself in the first Preach interview and patch 9.1 statements were far more defensive. This is something i personally believe is true with most of the issues with modern blizzard. It's not the developers, it's not the designers, not even the guys behind brainstorming ideas what will go next. Everything can be traced up to the ceos, the ones holding the company in its clutches. "Mmm, no we don't like this, do this, i don't care" the faces we see on expos and the ones doing the press get hit with all the shit, meanwhile the faceless ceos (apart from kotick i guess, he's well known now), get scot free for the most part.

Ion is such a wonderful human! He took me under his wing at the BlizzCon benefit dinner in 2019. I was at the dinner alone and he came and stood at my table in the corner with me and we got to chatting about our lives and I kept getting him craft beers because the fanboys wouldn’t stop hounding him with questions and each time I returned to the table with a beer for him, he’d clear a space at the table for me and when he noticed I was getting pushed out of the table, he’d pull me back in 😂 I think we ended up being each other’s security blanket that night lol
We finished the night taking photo booth photos, gave each other a hug and said goodbye 😊 a very treasured BlizzCon memory!

Kinda sad that your comment has gotten no love. People are so focused on the negatives about blizzard as a whole that they will ignore anything positive about anyone who works for them.
Of course they would probably say something like “well yea your a female so he probably just gave you special treatment” but at the end of that day, a connection is a connection. He felt a great vibe from you and decided to connect with you more than everyone else.
I just hope people will realize that blizzard is run by human beings and human beings make mistakes. It’s in our nature. We need to look at the positives with the same regard that we look at the negatives. Unfortunately negatives always outweigh the positives but I just hope that a good chunk of our society can change that.

I think that Ion's main problem is overthinking. You can read it through all interviews and presentations from last 7 years how he always wanted to solve many *possible* hypothetical problems and tasks. Many decisions under his rule were made in good will, however many of them were really too much sophisticated and turned out as an inefficient approach. It seems that they changed an approach with 9.1.5-9.2-9.2.5+DF and went into more *possible* hypotheticaly controversial design philosophy for recent and future updates.

We had BFA which touched upon the sword, then we went to shadowlands which obviously has nothing to do with it but it was actually brought up in ardenweald, you go do the play for the night fae and show what happened in your life up to that point and some of the fae literally talk about the sword like 'Wait so theres a giant sword just stuck in their world, how does that even work' etc. so blizz is clearly aware and I believe theyre planning on something. My theory is it will become Azeroths weapon when she is born hence the waiting game.

Back in the TBC days I was in a guild that had a very strict rule NOT to talk about any tactics that they had found online. - We figured out all of the Karazhan bosses on our own, and while it took us _some_ time, we had a BLAST doing that. -- Sure, some did know the tactics beforehand, but we didn't discuss them and I think many of us simply volunteered NOT to go find that info either, BECAUSE we were going to be clearing it eventually anyway. Would LOVE to see more opportunities for discovery, although I realize that this exact scenario would be impossible to reproduce on a large scale, especially these days.

One of the big problems is gear in previous raid being replaced. Getting gear only to use to clear that raid faster, then it's use is over as soon as you get the next raid item. Like Asmon said, it's like playing season to season and then what you do soon won't matter. Combat addons have got to be removed. People will never stop using combat add-ons bc they make every fight so much easier, they have to break them for good.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I loved the cata heroic dungeons on launch. Actually difficult 5 man content that didn't restrict players based on a time limit.
I also really liked bastion of twilight and blackwing descent. The zones were good too.
I won't lie though, it really did seem like LFD and LFR took a lot out of it being a good expansion. Add in flying in Azeroth and it just became a situation where you didn't see players outside of cities unless it was at a raid summon stone.
The story was new, too. Something people had never heard of before, and it just all culminates in a situation of it feeling like a very different game to what wotlk was.
I think there's a lot of adjustments that can be made to cata with the power of hindsight.

It would be great if they just made a conditional that if all members of the raid were in the same guild it would unlock, and if not just prompt the raid like a ready check to accept if everyone wants it and make it a unanimous condition. Or, just apply the latter for everything.
