Thanks for posting this. Love your setup. Living that good life!
Great video! One of the better explanations in layman's terms I've seen. You are spot on regarding lighted nocks and how their fit affects arrow flight. I stopped using lighted nocks for that reason. The consistency seems to vary per pack and at longer ranges, makes a big difference. Keep up the good work! Good information!
Good stuff Josh. Those lighted nocks can also be thicker and cause nock pinch. After having a lighted nock break I seen how thin the wall is around the battery so I quit shooting them. I keep a bare shaft in the mix year round to do a walk back tune/check whenever I need to. Keep the vlogs coming.
Excellent video!!
I was 🤏 close to saying what a quiet baby you have 👶
The baby looks like you Josh 👍
Concerning the nock mine too was tight but a little working of xtra fine sand paper worked perfect for me
One thing to try is to use a roll of masking paper for painting, would slip over the pvc and just put a wedge to keep the top from slipping or clamps. I've used it before with good luck. Once you're done with the section just roll out more like at the bow shop. Hope this helps!
I need to put something like that together in my basement. Good stuff Josh!!
This video just saved me such a headache… recently had a new D loop tied and ever sense when I draw my bow, the arrow would lift off the rest causing all sorts of noise when drawing. Turns out the D loop was to tight on the lighted nocks.. switched back to the standard nocks and BOOOM problem solved. THANK YOU!!!!!
Hahah awesome 😎
I need to get a micro-adjustable rest! I know I would have trouble guessing how far to bump the rest. Great video, thanks.
Congrats on the new kid Josh!🎉
Enjoyed the video. Great shooting. Where did you find the large target?
A local archery shop was selling their old range bags and I picked it up from them
Why not adjust the sight right or left once the paper tune is done?
The way an asa pro told me is that a paper tune is just a starting point. You want the arrows to be hitting left and right the exact same spot from 10 yards back to 60. If 60 hits left of the 10 yard group your bow isn't tuned.
So, when you adjusted your rest in your yard for the walk back test. Did it not affect your paper tune success? Im new to actually tuning a bow so i might be misunderstanding something.
I was taught that the paper tune gets you close and the walk back fine tunes your bow.
How much tweaking do you need to do to get fixed bladecbroadheads to group with your field points? I find that after bare shaft paper tuning I rarely have any issues with broadheads grouping away from field points, and if they do, it's extremely minor.
Kinda the same as long as the broadheads are spinning well
On the walk back don’t use my brilliant idea of hanging paracord in front of the target for center line . It will DESTROY arrows if u hit it on center.
Paracord will?
@@johndenver5029 yea it’s violent if centered w field points, it didn’t break the first time but it would sling them half way back at me or hit the other arrows already in the target n slap them so hard it broke the 1st arrow. Same some money in arrows n stick to tape
What was that big white target. Im looking for one that size that doesnt break the bank
I think it's a morrell. I got it used at a local shop that was done with it and getting new ones.
Ever try nock tuning Josh ?
Also do you think a small chainsaw file will help the nock fit ?
I have especially if I have an arrow that seems off.
What lighted nocks did you end up going with
I haven't found one I like yet.
What kinda rest are you using Josh.
#HoosierHunters
It's a hamskea epsilon
🤘🏽🤘🏽
What kind of rest do you use?
A hamskea epsilon
@@beforetheecho thanks!
I use to file the inside of my knocks when I shot with a tab. then went to a release. I still filed don't the knock, but just a little bit.i didn't want the arrow to fall out while pulling the string back. I felt a tight knock would effect the arrows flight.
It can be a huge problem
You moved the rest during paper tuning. Moved again when walking back tuning. Should you paper tune again? Seems moving rest would have undone the original adjustment
To me paper tune is only a starting I find walk back tuning is more exact and how my bow likes to tune.
I was going to ask this same question.. thanks for clarifying
@@beforetheecho thanks. Second season attempting to bow hunt. This was a helpful video .
Nice video, but man, the way you draw your bow. You gonna hurt your shoulder if you continue that way. It looks like the drawweight it is way to heavy. But all in all awesome job there. I will use this video to help me tune my bow. Stay safe
Thanks for the feedback yeah people tell me it's weird... Just how I've always pulled back probably wrong but it seems to work for me.
@beforetheecho did it the same way as you before on a 60# bow
My trainer took the bow to 38# and learned me to draw so my shoulder should be OK for many years to come. Now I draw 60# the right way and it is also easier due to the use of the larger back muscle
Stay safe.
Looks like your punching the trigger
