I definitely appreciate videos like this. It doesn’t feel like you’re talking over my head. Just bought my first compound today and am excited to learn!
I just got my compound bow today, I believe it’s the new version of almost the same one you have! I’m going from traditional recurve bow shooting to compound, it’s VERY different! But loads of fun. Thanks for the info!
thanks for this. i just bought my first compound bow and this is my first season, i was having such a hard time sighting in (diamond edge maxx) i think this is gonna help alot
So, in order for the scope dots to work correctly, the rear of the arrow must use the same reference point on each shot. That means either sighting your scope sights through your peep sight that’s on your string OR creating a point on your cheek or chin for your draw hand to rest on each shot. It’s like lining up your front AND rear sight on a firearm.
Great overall info in this video. My advice for any beginner is to start with a good quality and easily adjustable single pin. Multiple pins can be to complicated for newbies. In my personal opinion I would also suggest a good drop away rest to eliminate the rest throwing the shot off.
Thanks for the information I am still recovering from shoulder surgery trying too get ready for Deer season and Turkey season I don't know if my site is adjustable how do I find out?
The peep is set at the height above the nock by your eye. The front site is adjusted to match your peep site height. You "fix" the rear sight the adjust the front
I’m a little confused and maybe that’s because I shoot handguns. The direction is if the arrow is landing high right then adjust windage up and elevation right? I would have thought opposite. Is it because the alignment of the peep and front sight? I’m trying to envision this but I want to make sure I’m sighting it correctly.
How is it when adjusting the pins you move them in the same direction? What I mean is when you are low ↓ you have to adjust down ↓ instead of adjusting it up ^ which usually by adjusting it up ↑ it makes it go up ↑? And the same meaning of Right and Left?
Good video ! I just got a Jennings Archery Buck Master Lite bow at a garage sale this afternoon for $10. It needs a sight and an arrow rest . And I need to get a trigger release and arrows. This is the first bow I've had in over 50 years. I was planning on getting a recurve but couldn't pass this deal up.
So after I get my top pin in the right spot vertically and horizontally and im hitting the bullseye 🎯 when i move on to the second pin do i need to adjust the whole housing vertically and horizontally or do i just adjust the single pin itself?
Thanks mate. I appreciate this video. First time using a compound bow. I needed a quiet way to get the foxes in my property. I bought on line, so,set up myself. Rifles are too loud here on some part of my property..I really understood this. Thankyou. I have slowly got the idea,, I'm getting a nice group at 15 meters. I will get better. Edit: I'm Australian, my brother moved to England 18 years ago, long story short, he became Detective Sargent, he was sent all over Europe chasing peados, and Mafia He taught me alot about how to use alot of things. Not this though. You're a legend thankyou.
My question is say for example I bought a bow a month ago and I’ve been working at getting it sighted in but let’s say it’s zeroed in and ready to go, should you shoot it a while before hunting with it (if you haven’t shot before) or just go hunt. I myself would get it sighted in and shoot it a while before i go to the stand or blind. I don’t want to rush things and make a bad shot. I’m just kinda curious to see what everyone says.
If your nervous on shooting a deer or whatever your hunting right away. Try practicing on wild pigs. I live in Texas and those bastards are all over my feeder everyday. I don’t have a bow yet. Hopefully looking at maybe getting one tomorrow. But that’s what I would do. No better way of practicing on a live target.
Hi, great presentation and excellent learning material for a new Whitetail Hunter owner, however I have a small and silly sounding question; I am attempting to move my scope further towards the front, but can't find the right Alan bit to loosen the small Alan? bolts that attach the scope to the rail, the supplied keys don't fit, so I just purchased a new set of bits both imperial as metric and they still don't fit... What did you use to unscrew the little buggers? Many thanks and keep up the good tutorials and hunt!
I believe I just used the ones that came with the bow. If I remember correctly they are a torx head and not an Allen head. I could be wrong because it’s been awhile and I don’t currently have the bow or I would take a look.
I would suggest learning how to minimize movement, such as slowing your breathing, even holding your breath before you release the arrow to allow for less movement. Form is key to bow shooting and learning to not jerk and anticipate the shot will help too.
I understand what you are saying about breath control. My poi t is, when zeroing a rifle, you use a rest or sandbags. Is there an equivalent when zeroing a bow?
So I just got my first bow. Took it out to sight it in. After zeroing it out to 30 yards. I was consistently grouping on an 8" target shot after shot at 30 yards, most being within a 6" circle. I figured this was pretty decent so I moved out to set my next sight pin for 40 yards and for some reason with that extra 10 yards everything went to crap. Arrows going all over the place, very inconsistent trajectory. Mostly low and/or left, but I had a couple that flew right for some reason too. Same point of aim every time but every shot was a vastly different result sometimes by as much as 2 feet off. Had about a 3-5mph cross wind which I'm not sure if that starts to play a factor at 40 yards. Out of roughly 30 attempts I had two that hit within 6" of the bullseye I was aiming at. But I aimed at the same bullseye and shot the same way every time same as I did at the closer distances. Do you have any idea what could be going on here? Is it just shooter error?
Joseph, it is hard to say exactly what is causing the inconsistency without seeing it in person. Anything from jerking shots slightly, target panic, arrow issues, torque on the bow with the grip, these are just a few of many things it could be. It is surprising but yea the extra 10 yards can make it more challenging for sure. My first suggestion would be to make sure your bow is tuned properly (paper tuned) this will ensure it is not an issue with the bow. Second I would make sure you arrows are all the same and matched to your draw weight and length, and in good condition. Next, I would suggest working on your shooting form starting with a relaxed grip. Hopefully this helps man, lots of variables that go into this.
Thanks for the question man, this sight is actually the sight that came on the bow as a ready to hunt package, and I can’t find it for sale by itself anywhere. But it is just a very basic sight similar to other 4 pin sights on ready to hunt bows or something like this throphy ridge sight: Trophy Ridge Joker Bow Sight www.amazon.com/dp/B00OPA6DXO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_E2SECDFM7BZXQ0QAP1VP Hope this helps man!
So I'm a semi beginner no matter what spine arrow I shoot it shoots high and left when aiming at dead center every shot is the same anchor point mechanics are the same every time draw weights 59 draw length is 27 arrows cut at 29 1/2 . Got better groups shooting 30 inch arrows HELP
Thanks Brian, the bow is a Diamond Deploy SB, the Amazon link is in the description box. It is basically the same bow as the Bow Tech carbon knight, but with slightly different cams but same riser, great bow for the money!
Hey I’m new subscribe here and new to bow hunting got mine 20 yards sight in but I just got hard time to work on 30 and 40 I think I might need help lol 😂
Glad to have you part of the channel brother, it’s all good I still find myself struggling with compound bow from time to time because I just don’t normally have time to focus on practicing. Glad to hear you got the 20 yard pin sighted in, that 30 and definitely 40 yard one can be tough. The biggest issue with shooting the longer distances is the ability to hold the bow steady and to not get target panic with the shot. This is the main reason I switched over to using a crossbow because without time to practice I didn’t want to chance a bad shot on a big buck. I’m planning on using the bow for some does after I get my first buck tag filled. If you have any questions let me know man, thanks again for checking out the channel!
I definitely appreciate videos like this. It doesn’t feel like you’re talking over my head. Just bought my first compound today and am excited to learn!
I like the term chase the arrow for moving the pins. Great job
the tape idea was awesome! Thank you!
Thanks for your help, guy! I am from Czech Republic and I am a beginner in compound bow shooting. This video is exactly for me 😉👍 Good luck!
I’ve watched so many videos on this. This is the most comprehensive
You were the only person that made it made sense thank you !

Best video out. Simple enough the young kids can understand. Good job. 👍🏽

great video. watched a few this morning and this was the easiest to follow so far.
Bro thanks for the video. I’m new to compound bows and this helped a lot
First time shooting archery this coming weekend. We will be doing this and I appreciate the video greatly. Thank you!
New to compound bows and came across this video...just what I needed to dial in my bow👍🏽great tutorial !
Thanks man still helps people now days keep up the good work just got yourself a new sub and like
Glad to see you helping the beginners 👍
Best video for beginners like myself on the market!! Thanks heaps brother!!
Great overall info in this video. My advice for any beginner is to start with a good quality and easily adjustable single pin. Multiple pins can be to complicated for newbies. In my personal opinion I would also suggest a good drop away rest to eliminate the rest throwing the shot off.
Thank you for giving a detailed tutorial
Thanks for the information I am still recovering from shoulder surgery trying too get ready for Deer season and Turkey season I don't know if my site is adjustable how do I find out?
thanks i will use your info when i get a target for my compound as i am new at this
How do you not have to adjust the peep sight while moving the whole sight for vertical and horizontal!???
The peep is set at the height above the nock by your eye. The front site is adjusted to match your peep site height. You "fix" the rear sight the adjust the front
Sweet man! I personally appreciate ya making this video.
Just waiting for my membership to the range to be approved and I will be out sighting in my first bow
Started on a used Cabela's Optimus compound bow and trying to get it sighted in for the season

It’s the same for zeroing a rifle
@@LordPenny95 thank you. That makes sense.

How do you know how many yards you are from the target? Do you have a rangefinder?
I either use a range finder or just step it off in the back yard
love your videos!,How do you like that arrow rest?
So after I get my top pin in the right spot vertically and horizontally and im hitting the bullseye 🎯 when i move on to the second pin do i need to adjust the whole housing vertically and horizontally or do i just adjust the single pin itself?
Correct you just move the other pins individually, the housing stays.
Thanks for the video helps me out
Very big help thanks!

Great video. Very informative
Thank you
A bow is follow the arrow and I'm not sure what the rifle if you follow the bullet or you move the scope opposite

Excellent video!
How much does it cost to get it bring it to someone to a bow tech
i find that I move alot when shooting. would you suggest using some sort of rest just for sighting the bow?
I would suggest learning how to minimize movement, such as slowing your breathing, even holding your breath before you release the arrow to allow for less movement. Form is key to bow shooting and learning to not jerk and anticipate the shot will help too.
Same applies if your shooting a rifle. All about breath control.
I understand what you are saying about breath control. My poi t is, when zeroing a rifle, you use a rest or sandbags. Is there an equivalent when zeroing a bow?
@@WhiskersNWings I would say no. It will just come down to practicing.
Thanks for the help! Appreciate the tips!
Diesel mechanic by trade bought my first bow yesterday
Great video, appreciate the info!
How would one sight in at distance if you only have 10-20 yards to work with?
Most places have bow/ archery ranges. Also might ask a friend with some land or even at the field/ woods you hunt at
Like how his first shots were pretty good
What if I have trouble keeping both eyes open when sighting in?
Just use your dominant eye and close the other one, sometimes this helps more

Beginner woman here. I am drawing 42 pounds. It is pretty hard. Should I just keep practicing at that or go down a bit until I get my shot lined up?
Idk why when I use my release it feels like it makes my bow shoot low but when I use my fingers it has more speed
Excellent!

Would be good if you showed how to adjust the sights, 😂 but I think I can do it.
Great video
Thanks for the tips, good video, I was using 1 inch white painter tape which is more visible from the distance.
Yea man that white tape would work great!
thanks for the info

Just adding here that these are really the same/similar principles to sighting in a rifle scope. Get a baseline, then make small adjustments and test.
Actually, this is some good information. Actually.
My bow came with that same arrow rest and it completely destroyed the vanes on my arrows
Why does your 20 and 30 yard look so close
You need a micro mic on to hear your voice. Had the volume all the way up
If you take your bow into a bow tech to sight everything except the pins why not have him sight that in as well.
His eyes, his face every little detail that can effect it will show more with a bow than anything
@@jaredvanhook2638
My bowtech wont sight in other peoples bows
Clueless question.
Because everyone is different in the way they shoot
Going to the rang every three days
Sometimes your 10 works for 20 too
In my opinion it looks like you're punching your trigger You would be more accurate with a slow squeeze.
