    • @timryan1360
      @timryan1360 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Its opposite. The Exhaust brake turns on at the downshift. Not the other way around. And only in tow haul mode. The exhaust brake on a 69 with the shift timing is bad ass towing. Throw you forward in the seat and all you have to do is tap the brakes. I wouldnt want to lose that either, but the causation is opposite.

    • @davidlariviere7784
      @davidlariviere7784 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's only my opinion but to me it makes little sense to put a 10 speed anything behind the 6.7 Cummins. That engine builds immense torque because it's an inline six. The advantage, to me, in having fewer rations (Aisin 6 Speed) keeps the Cummins in it's torque curve which makes it very happy and "inline" with it's engineering. A ten speed gives more and closer ratios but never makes the engine really work, you rely more on Horsepower than torque. The Cummins 6.7, the HO in particular, loves to work. My 2020 RAM 3500 SRW with the HO and Aisin is a monster and still gets close to 20 MPG driving like I like to drive. Aggressively. Again, just me opinion.

    I have really had an eye for the Dodge 3/4 ton and 1 ton SRW Cummins trucks for a little while now. Especially the 5th gen trucks. The one thing that's always kept me from pulling the trigger on buying one is the transmissions. I've heard so much negative stuff about the trans in dodge trucks. Everyone I know that's had a dodge truck (gas or diesel) has all had transmission issues out of them. And for the price of these trucks, you shouldn't have to worry about if they're going to last.
    You know Dodge has to know about the issues they have. I've always wondered how come dodge doesn't sink a little R&D into finding out why their trans keep failing and correct these issues to make them more reliable?
    This would be a pretty good powertrain. Cummins with an Allison.

    • @timryan1360
      @timryan1360 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No one does but its also because as an aftermarket parts company, theres not much you can do to a 69. I have a 14 delete tuned HO. Cant tune the trans. He mentions line pressure is already maxed. He doesnt mention that it has a 4 disc converter which cant really be improved upon in stock form... There are converters you can drop in, but not really tangible improvement. We all know 68s suck. The dramatic effect for the video is better. Not as good to say "look as these two beef shafts" lol. This is going to be mostly for the 68 guys because thats the market opp. They break alot. If you have an AISIN you dont really need an allison unless it breaks. That doesnt happen very often, but its nice to be able to compare costs because like anything... it can break. A bolt in 69 is 7-8K before core. If this is similar price and works with all the creatures like he said? Itd be a better shifting AISIN. Thats the biggest complaint with an AISIN and mine too. Its a clunky shifting beast, but it is a beast. Reminds you youre driving a truck and not a ford taurus.

      The hate to be the bearer of bad news but the Aisin is not built much stronger than a 68rfe. Put a deleted and tuned 6.7l with a cheetah turbo strong enough for 700hp and 2000lb tq and it breaks also pretty easily.

    • @timryan1360
      @timryan1360 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marlboroman71818 what? There is no stock transmission on the planet that can take 700/2000 and it takes more than throwing a cheetah on a 6.7 to get it. If you were at 700hp on a cummins, youre not at 2k tq. If youre at 2k torque youre at more than 700 hp. While we are talking about anecdotal evidence a guy broke his aisin doing a burnout with a 200hp tune. He asked on a more than popular cummins forum if anyone else had ever broken theirs.... crickets. Anything can break but an aisin with a mild tune does not. Cant say that about any other transmission. Including an allison.

Sure the 6.0 starter is dated, but the nice thing is that any 6.0 starter can be upgraded to a 6.4 starter witch is WAY faster then any dodge starter... I have a 2008 F450 that I cummins swapped (ppump 12 valve) and for being a older engine it cranks over and fires up instantly! Wouldn't do that with a dodge starter..... Plus if you do research you can actually install a newer 6.7 Powerstroke Starter in a 6.0L/6.4L! And when you say a “stock swap” will drive shafts need shortened or lengthened? And tuning how would that go with it

      You can spend that pretty quick on a couple of transmission rebuilds... and eventually it's probably gonna break again, unless you spent about 7,000 the first time. If you don't plan on making dumb power or doing hard duty or heavy load towing consistently, then you can save your hard earned money 😉👍

    • @briangc1972
      @briangc1972 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@berryreading4809 That is why I said Ram should have been offering these as a factory option. Putting the 68RFE in a 2500 or 3500 that is used for hauling a heavy trailer was very misleading. The 4th, 5th, & 6th gear overdrive clutch packs aren't designed for a diesel hauling heavy loads up and down hills; especially with Ram shipping those trucks with 3.23 axle ratios. I changed my axle ratio to 4.10 and my transmission is much more happy now (stock tires). My fuel economy actually improved by over 20% with the 4.10 ratio. Before spending $10K on a transmission swap, guys should be using higher axle ratios to see if that solves their problems. Changing axle ratios only costs 1/10 of what the upgrades cost.

    This would be really cool if it actually works like it's supposed to. My buddy tried the same conversion by a different company it was a horrible situation. No reverse lights, remote start didn't work, push button start didn't work, among several other things. The tuning never did get right even with multiple attempts from the company. My buddy finally just gave up and got rid of the truck. Hopefully this is a true plug-and-play system that actually works as this video makes it seem. Also hoping this isn't some 15 or $20,000 modification. Hopefully not any more than about 10,000, and even that is pretty high.

      @@chadhester265 Unless somethings happened at CAC, their customer service is on point and then some. I called in two years ago to inquire and they spend a good hour on the phone with me answering questions and explaining things. I ended up doing more research and determined there was an issue with this swap. The Allison trans tuning will not work with a high hp/torque Cummins. The lack of defuel between shifts will cause the trans to overheat and fail. However, it can be remedied by flashing a new tune in the TCM.
      I decided to hold off and last year came across a video from Firepunk in which they were removing CAC swapped 4th Gen Cummins truck for a 48. The trans overheated and failed. Per the video, it was the fourth failure, CAC warrantied the three previous failures and I’m sure they would have warrantied the fourth, but the owner decided to 48 swap instead.
      If you leave a message I’m sure they’ll call you back, KC is a wealth of knowledge. The only thing I don’t agree with is the TCM with Allison tuning. Because I don’t want to deal with any possible issues with an Allison swap and having 1k hp goals, I decided do a 48 swap last year.
