The issue of sexual orientation has raised a huge controversy in Western circles. People are still debating whether sexual orientation is decreed by what they call 'Nature', or by 'nurture'. And the reason for this debate is that there is a tendency to justify homosexual urges because, it is claimed, they are beyond one's control.
What if someone has unnatural urges and feels attracted to members of the same gender? - While this is a very disturbing question to some people, it is something that needs to be mentioned and discussed publicly so that we can understand the Islamic solution to such issues.
Yasir Qadhi speaks on - The Islamic solution to homosexual urges.

Ive been muslim 2 years now and have struggled with homosexuality 20 years. I chose to be gay. Ill never embrace that I was born that way because Allah S.W.T. doesnt create perversion. We know that babies are born muslim so with being said we are born sinless. I struggle daily with urges and temptation from the shatain and its worrysome. I ask Allah to help me and heal me of this affliction everyday. Im still attracted to guys but dont commit the act.

It is basically what we call in Islam "Jihad an-nafs" (struggle against desires) to deal with it. And the guide line over it is the religion.
The religion tells us not to practice homosexuality so we don't do it and if we have desires to do it, we struggle against it. And it applies to everything which is forbidden.
    That's life.

Islam has little resources for counseling or rehabilitation for this issue. Our Ummah needs to come together and tackle these most needed topics to help people who truly desire change. I wanna please Allah and want His Mercy and Forgiveness and His Jannah In'Sha'Allah. May Allah forgive us our shortcomings and have Mercy on us and make us stronger in Imaan to fight the Shatain and our nafs. Ameen

The reason why this is a hot topic is because the people who adressed it created a cleavage of opinions over wondering if homosexuality is "natural" or not.
In Islam the answer is very simple: everything which is in the nature of men and women is not always sane by default.
There are natural desires which are totally healthy, some which are to control and some which are to reject.

I will pray that Allah get you strong, and whenever you feel weak sir, say out loud " God I seek refuge with you against the whispers of the devil and gins inside and outside of me". May God bless you from turning away from sin and fighting to live a God purpose life :)

It's about controlling desires which is not harmful to others but against god's will. There are hundreds of these such examples and homosexuality is one.

Spot on, brother with the I love Lucy show. Been saying that for years. Too much sex on tv and no morsals is causing promiscuous teenagers and unwanted pregnancies.

Thus, I humbly think your central question should not be, "why is this forbidden?", but rather, "Is there an All-Knowing, All-Wise God who has the legitimate authority and knowledge to forbid this?"

I don't really "struggle" against anything. I don't know why anyone should do that if it's not hurting anyone.

Men like men in term of sexual relationship is based upon 'freedom of action' rather than the action itself has to be defined logically. Resulting from various kinds of freedom that have been put forth by some thinkers without referring to truth of Islam, sexual relationship that foster life is going to end by itself. No more rational thinking in developing humanity in term of logical thinking.

The problem isn't with anyone's religion who believes that the struggle for holiness and righteousness is an INTERNAL. The problem, be you Muslim, Catholic or Mormon is that you believe you have the right to COMMAND behavior of your brothers and sisters when you cannot offer ANY proof that their behavior is harmful to you or anyone else. Do not presume to FORCE others to conform to YOUR beliefs. God will rule us DIRECTLY when He desires to do so. You have NO AUTHORITY to do so in His name!

Homosexuality is a lifestyle choice. We've been hoodwinked into believing that this unnatural act is okay. Allah is not the author of confusion. It is not of God for us to be that way. God doesn't make homosexuals. To say that a man and woman is born gay makes as much sense as a addict for drugs saying they were born that way.

He presents his argument clearly and simply. This however does not alter the fact that his argument is nonsense. I also have problems with lessons on sexual morality from a religion the reveres a man who had sex with a nine year old girl.
