  • Episode 295: Join us for a pivotal live broadcast, 'Kidney Disease Treatment: Dr. Rosansky's Tips for What to Do NOW for CKD', where Dr. Rosansky, a renowned nephrologist, shares the latest guidelines, tips, and best practices for managing Chronic Kidney Disease. In this session, you'll gain invaluable insights into slowing the progression of kidney disease and reducing the risk of associated heart disease. Dr. Rosansky brings his expertise to the forefront, offering practical strategies for every stage of CKD. This broadcast is essential for anyone looking to enhance their understanding of kidney disease treatment and seeking actionable advice to improve renal health and overall well-being.
Here are some of the blood pressure medications Dr. Rosansky spoke about to help with reducing protein in urine (proteinuria or albuminuria):
    1. ACE Inhibitors: ACE inhibitors work by blocking the action of the enzyme responsible for the production of angiotensin II, a hormone that narrows blood vessels and increases blood pressure. Some common ACE inhibitors include:
    Benazepril (Lotensin)
    Captopril (Capoten)
    Enalapril (Vasotec)
    Fosinopril (Monopril)
    Lisinopril (Prinivil, Zestril)
    Quinapril (Accupril)
    Ramipril (Altace)
    2. ARBs: ARBs block the action of angiotensin II by preventing it from binding to its receptor. This helps relax blood vessels and lower blood pressure. Some common ARBs include:
    Candesartan (Atacand)
    Irbesartan (Avapro)
    Losartan (Cozaar)
    Olmesartan (Benicar)
    Telmisartan (Micardis)
    Valsartan (Diovan)
    3. SGLT-2 Inhibitors:
    Canagliflozin (Invokana)
    Dapagliflozin (Farxiga)
    Empagliflozin (Jardiance)
    Ertugliflozin (Steglatro)
    Sotagliflozin (Zynquista)
    4. Aldosterone receptor antagonists:
    Eplerenone (Inspra)
    Spirinolactone (Aldactone)
    Finerenone (Kerendia)
    5. GLP1 agonists:
    Dulaglutide (Trulicity)
    Exenatide extended release (Bydureon BCISE)
    Exenatide (Byetta)
    Semaglutide (Ozempic)
    Liraglutide (Victoza, Saxenda)
    Lixisenatide (Adlyxin)
    Semaglutide (Rybelsus)

I am SO relieved watching this! My provider said no special diet needed. I’m 68, 3a, gfr 52, had urine checked last Spring-neg. Dr Rosansky confirmed no diet yet. I didn’t trust my provider when she said that. Would not refer me to a dietician. Hearing him say that confirmed what my provider (CPA) was saying. 😊 thank you for a great video!

    This was great.
I’m a 56 year old without any major risk factors (that I know of) and get a yearly physical.
My eFGR has been measuring anywhere between 75 and 64 over the past 7 years. One year 68, the next 73 etc.
But last month it came back at 59.75. Was somewhat alarmed.
But it had been a bad four months, with an injury, some diet slip ups and I am prone to forgetting to drink water some days.
So from todays interview it sounds like I need to get it retested (and probably again in a couple months)
And there is a good chance it will be back up where it has been previously.
    Sound about right ?

Its interesting you mention fasting. The Dr reply mentions about a ketogenic diet, which I believe is a different thing. What about actual water fasting, both intermittent (12-20hours) and even longer perids like 3-7 day fasts? By fasts i mean zero calorie intake, just water and some electrolytes.

    • @kathycorcoran1589
      @kathycorcoran1589 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

No one should be on it more than 30 days. During that time start doing searches like 10 worst foods for acid reflux or 10 best foods for acid reflux. Or same searches for heartburn etc.Write a list for each. Write your own list of what you are that gave you reflux etc. Stop eating those foods. Pills just treat the symptoms but not the cause. Then slowly lower the amount you take. Instead of 2x a day try just in the a.m. for a couple weeks or so. Then try just one every other day. Then none. Be careful what you eat. This is what I did. I've been off that stuff for more than a year. If I do have a little occasionally I eat a few TBS of yogurt . I like Nancy's which I get at Sprouts store. I do still keep some Tums in my purse and occasionally I bite off a half of one. Wish I'd known this in the beginning.

Hello! Have you already done or maybe plan to do a video with the doc on glomerular disease and the prognosis? I have recently been diagnosed with Stage 1 kidney disease. My albumin/ creatinine ratio was 263 in June, 2023. In November, 2023, it shot up to 1,319! 5x the increase over what it was in June, 2023! I am on an ACE, Lisinopril, and also a statin, atorvastatin. I return in 3 months to see if the meds are helping. By the way, I’m a 62 year old female. My nephrologist thinks my CKD is due to an autoimmune disease called Sjogrens Syndrome ( which I’ve had for over 20 years), and my immune system is attacking my kidneys. It seems to be progressing fast. At my last appointment, my nephrologist didn’t talk about my prognosis, maybe because it’s not good? I think it’s a whole different ball game when you have kidney disease caused by an autoimmune disease. It’s a challenge to try and treat a progressive autoimmune disease. For me, my nephrologist said it’s not my diet, but the Sjogrens. So I can’t even control it with diet, although I’m trying to only eat anti- inflammatory foods since inflammation drives Sjogrens Syndrome. I also have an appointment with a rheumatologist coming up. I’m interested in one of your videos, or a future video talking about CKD caused by an autoimmune disease, and the prognosis. Thank you!

@@johnschannel449 The thing is, I already was on a plant- based diet before my numbers increased. No animal protein, dairy products, just fruit, vegetables and tofu for protein… and my numbers still increased. I was on vitamin B 12 and since have stopped it because I read B 12 can cause more protein in the urine. Maybe it was the B 12 that messed me up. I stopped the B12 and added another Omega 3 capsule and a Curcumin supplement. Curcumin is a good ant- oxidant and anti - inflammatory supplement. I don’t know what else I can do. I do have to increase my exercise if I can find the energy. Maybe increase the dose of my medications if my nephro. will agree to it. I’m only on 5 mg. Lisinopril. I don’t think 5 mg. will do much. I’m also scheduled to see a rheumatologist in January . Maybe she can prescribe something for the inflammation. I’m glad you’re doing better now. Hopefully I can also turn this around. Was your CKD due to an autoimmune disease? Thank you for your suggestions.
