I have, in RL, "semi-chicken head", so my vision, no matter how much my vehicle is moving or shaking, still """locked""" (semi-locked... because I am not a bird) to the horizon and I se my car interior moving. I don't know if it's the same for everybody, but I never felt strange about AMS2 cockpit camera. Cheers!
I went back and viewed some real life footage from my helmet cam in my endurance racecar. The legacy head movement set to NO actually looked closer to real life. This is where I leave it set in AMS2. Maybe because that's what I'm used to seeing. Not telling anyone where to set it just an observation. Thank you for your video.
I prefer legacy mode on as well but I’m not 100% if that is “correct”. I zero out all other movement. I read somewhere your brain compensates in real life to process out, and reduce vibration to stabilize your view. I’d have to look it up again. *edit, there are references to this in comments - However, absolutely use what settings you prefer, don’t vomit, and have fun!😅
I use Legacy at 0 and always confused as to why Reiza made Legacy off to the default!! People like Billy Strange only ever play in default anything and then talk about how bad things are, Reiza should make default Legacy on default!!
It's funny how people used to install Real Head Motion (RHMAC) with some fake TrackIR driver (nowadays there's Neck FX on CSP) just to simulate this head movement effect on Assetto Corsa, that you just turned mostly off. :P
I think your assumption of what you should see in real car is incorrect. Your eyes will compensate for movement and keep whatever you are focusing on steady. I have paid specific attention to this while driving irl to be sure. So, you should see the car bouncing in your peripheral vision, as you shouldn't be focusing on it while driving, and the track and world should be steady, as you are focusing on it. Irl, the perception of movement will change depending on your focus, car vs world, but in the game we can have movement change from car to track depending on where we are looking so we should set it to be correct when focusing on the track as that is where we should be focusing.
Oh yeah absoloutely, your brain will deal with it and compensate better than any game could, its just that when the game trys to do it it does it in a way that produces a kinda jumpy almost stuttery camera position movemnt that for instance my brain at least, notices more than anything else, I'd rather not put up with that so I changed my settings to get rid of that rather than perfect world or horizon movement. At the end of the day I guess its all about whats important to you, if you focus on what you want and you are able to get that, I guess it makes you more willing to put up with stuff your not so bothered about not being perfect.
What you are saying is correct but as you drive faster and I mean faster than what public road speeds allow your vision does narrow and your focus narrows some what and you do to some degree (depending on the surface) you will experience vision shake. No matter how well our eyes adjust having a helmet on which add a weight also adds to the movement especially on sharp bumps in close succession. Many years ago I was on a motorbike that developed a bad front end vibration and after a short period I developed a kind of double vision to the point where I eventually had to stop. Very weird experience.
There's also this bouncing feature in rFactor 2. in RFactor 2, it is really excessive. I think this bouncing feature is a must and it is realistic. Or Why would the developers add this feature if it's really bad and annoying?
OMG thanks for this I have AMS2 but have not been playing it bc of the fact that the bounciness of the camera was making me nauseas forcing me to not play the game and only playing ACC.
Cheers mate, so glad its helped you out! I love ACC & AMS2 but I do wish ACC had more camera options, think AMS2 has done a good job with the amount of adjustable parameters availible
Very happy to hear you've found this useful, i find for consistency (especially fopr long endurance races) I try to drive just a little below my limit and concerntrate more on the flow of the track (which sometimes ends up netting me faster lap times than constantly pushing, which usually leads to an off). Basically if I find myself constantly tensing up at every breaking zone and corner, then im too close to the edge and am probably gunna stack it way before the end of the race.

Use legacy mode view and set to 50 (half world, half head), best setup so far!
Exellent, I'll give that a try!

Interesting. Do you zero out other “effects” like g-force, leaning or do you run some values to those?

AMS 2 need to get this together but your suggestions are the best so far.

Wow cheers I've just got the base game and have been struggling with consistent and I wonder if this is why

very useful. Away to try it.
