Game stop just tried to pull the telling you you don't have any preorder bullshit, I brought a receipt to gamestop showing I do actually have preorders, guess what? They gave me store credit! Guess what else? the game I wanted costed 27 dollars more than it does on amazon, every game I wanted was atleast 10 dollars more, which means they technically didnt give me back 20-30 of the dollars!

Honestly, he probably isn't doing much to Gamestop if anything at all. The few tens of thousands of people, potentially on a big video a few hundred thousand that actually see this video aren't going to effect a corporation that size.
Only Gamestop could hurt itself. Cody is only hurting individuals. We're talking about a multi billion dollar company. No one on you tube could ever take down a corporation that size by themselves, and anyone big enough on youtube wouldn't want to start that war.

None of the people in charge of hiring sat back and thought "What if the management was the reason CompUSA shut down?" I see them as the type of company where they'd send in a box truck, load of the inventory of most of an entire store and send it to regional warehouses and sell it off at nearly full markup from random online storefronts, or just pass it off to another company to subsequently sell at full price themselves, all with no real noteworthy discount to customers in any scenario.

I told him no when a customer asks im going to come get you and let you tell them what you just told me.. He said then he'd cut my hours to nothing and stupid shit but needless to say when a customer asked why the price was so high I went and got him to explain it to her which he just said sorry it was a mistake and I quit the next day. Personally, I worked a seasonal position during the holidays for some extra scratch (not this year though, thank God).
I gave the hiring manager my schedule for my primary job. I worked only two days, one being a small 3-4 hour training shift and Black Friday. I keep on giving them my schedule and they decide to not give me shifts so I eventually stopped trying.
I get a call from the store manager why I haven't given her my schedule and I told her that if I am not getting shifts then why bother?
She goes off to tell me that she would give me more shifts than I could handle if I gave her my schedule.
Burned my bridge with GameStop after that. I hope they crash and burn.

  • @donaldorizzo.9952
    @donaldorizzo.9952 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

My story isn't bad or anything. But I feel it's something you'll get a laugh out of. First off, I feel bad that I did this because a friend working there helped me get the seasonal position I had, just entry level nothing crazy. I worked from maybe late October to a few days before Christmas a few years back. Around this time, I had seen other TH-camrs mention the terrible nature of GameStop so I prepared myself and kept my eyes open. Being entry level I didn't see or wouldn't be effected by big changes but I was keenly aware regardless. Through my training process I had my store leaders give me constant tips on "the right way (the GameStop way) to do customer service." I shrugged that constant annoyance off because I was still interacting in ways that were beneficial to me and the store. As time passed and Christmas was around the corner I could tell store management liked me regardless because I was the only seasonal growing my weekly hours. They liked me... Or they liked my naive nature that I'm well aware of but I don't let off that I am. Literally 3 days before Christmas my boss sits down and tells me, "you have to work Christmas Eve." I respond with, that's not on my schedule, I'm busy that day. He starts to get agitated but remains calm on that surface. The guy is trying to strong arm me into taking the shift but doing it with the shittiest customer service tone. I do this job too dude I'm not blind, I think internally. So after the conversation I accepted the hours. However I said it with the full intention of not going. I was gonna NCNS to be an ass but decided I'd rather end things face to face. The next day, I stop into the store, buy a game and then go into the back office and quit on the spot. My leader was so blindsided by this it was almost comical. He stayed calm, probably with the understanding that he brought this on himself, and just wished me luck, literally rushing me out the door. I feel bad because my friends reputation got hurt by advocating for me but ultimately I knew that this holiday hour "request"was just the start of a pile of crap that they'd just keep shoveling on ma boots. GameStop was certainly an experience and I enjoyed interacting with customers but at the end of the day, I'm not cut out to be a piece of shit for a living, I just do that on my own time hahaha Keep up the great work man, you've got all us normal everyday people on your sides here

I quit after years. I was a sga and I was doing everyones job. I gave a 3 weeks notice and my manager wouldn't take it. The person talked me out of it so he or she could go to the conference. I was over the fact how much I got paid and the fact I had to do all the work that nobody would do for weeks sometimes months. I was just a sga so I was part time and perpetual's, defectives, rsb, and the store was always a mess. My assistant manager was a slob that did absolutely nothing but talk about his or hers favorite games for hours like a child but in his or her 30's with a bad smell... While I was doing as many things rushing and helping customers. My store manager hated me but my numbers doubled both his or hers and I'm part time. I had GA's not care and put games anywhere. I talked to my lawyer because we had to take on paid breaks. Being on the clock because a GA couldn't be alone. That's against the law, and we need to set up a class action lawsuit. I was forced to spend money to pre-order just to make numbers which is against the law also. How big this has gotten, I'm sure we all can file a class action lawsuit. I have so many bad memories in 3 years feeling like a slave, it's like PTSD watching your video's

I just saw you on Nick’s stream. The first guys story I have seen my self. I have never been an employee of GS. I did work as a non sworn officer, CSO, and interacted with the Game Stop in my city. Suddenly, nearly, everyone in the store was fired. We were there in response to another business reporting a ‘commotion.’ While we waited for a police response the manager and assistant manager walked past and opened empty back packs saying “see it’s empty” walking back out both said they quit.
My other CSO and I were called into interviews about thefts “we let happen.” It was only a formality as we did not have the authority to stop and inspect the backpacks and did everything right. Still was scary felling being thrown under a bus with a baseless criminal accusation.

Companies do not typically give notice for layoffs. One store in our area did give notice but the store ended up having to close earlier than they had planned because the remaining employees were taking stuff and otherwise causing trouble. Plus, having a lame duck employee increases the company's legal exposure. As a result, some companies do not even allow an employee to work out their notice when the employee quits.

They guy asked me what ones I had and I listed off some, then came to marth. I liked little Mac more so he asked me if I wanted to trade, so I did. Come to find out after the trade, my marth amiibo was worth over $100 at the time while the little Mac was worth $13 (retail price). Just another way GameStop tries to swindle people.

I was dumbfounded when I saw how much those spider Man games released during the 7th console generation are now worth. The games being de-listed digitally definitely contributed to the price jump.

I worked for a fast food place, one night there was 3 of us working and customers complained the chicken smelt funny, sure enough the chicken was past the throw out dates, I told the supervisor I wouldn't cook any of the expired chicken so she decided we needed to throw it out. It was about $1400 worth of chicken. The next day we had a meeting about it, after the meeting the store manager pulled me into the office and told me it was my fault even though everyone knew it's the kitchen managers responsibility and I had only been there about a week. They wrote me up for 2 things on the incident so I decided not to return. They proceeded to spread rumors and lies and even told my family that I was stalking and sexually harrassing a girl who worked there and the cops were investigating, all lies and never did the cops ever investigate. They wanted to discredit me because I knew their dirty secrets like how the kitchen manager would shoot a bb gun at us through the drive through window or as we were walking out after closing, or how everyone in the store did drugs constantly while working, they even stashed drugs under the hotplate up near customers. There's more too much to add. I haven't been able to find a job in 2 years after them due to the lies they spread. I have 2 kids and I can't even provide for them, my family and wife's family supports us which makes me feel sick inside cause it's a burden on them. If you got any advice please let me know, I'm trying everything I can to find work even Craigslist where I've been sexually assaulted by gay men trying to find a young man to be with while just trying to find a simple job like cleaning or heck even picking dog poop, I'll do any job so long as it is legal

I asked for the manager and he offered to give me 5% off which still made the game over $50. Even though I complained about it nothing was done until my SL, who didn't even have the balls to talk to me face to face left a voicemail on my phone saying I was terminated for refusing to work my set schedule, even though I have the texts to prove that they were lying. I used to love going into gamestop looking at games to see what to play next and walk out 45 minutes later with 2 games or so and I was beyond happy. In todays world alot of companies are shitty and walk all over their employees and get away with it unfortunately with laws put into place to protect them. Good luck man I wish you all the luck!

Idk why TH-cam recommended me your video first announcing your lawsuit trouble, I really can’t think why it popped it on my feed...but it did. Now I’ve watched countless videos leading up to this one. I wish you luck my man. I think you have a good reason to be speaking out

This is why you never give a company any more than they ask for. Don't ever go the extra mile for someone else. They'll take advantage of you.

Hey Cody I was never a GameStop employee but as a customer I stopped going to gamestop cause my experience as customer was absolute horrible you can’t even go into the store to browse without being harassed to buy something and that happens the moment you walk through the door and I’ve also been in there at times when management is straight yelling at their employees for not doing something that corporate wants them to do I’m so disgusted with how that place is being run into the ground that I’ve stop going there and now get my games from my local retro store I just wanted to tell you I enjoy your videos and I’m glad you are speaking up about the company I support your fight against them

When I was a kid I worked for a now closed chain.of game stores where I found out that my assistant store manager was taking people's "dead" preorders so to speak and behind their back doing exacrly what this guy said his asl was doing at the direction of his district leader but completely on his own as employees HAD TO get a certain amount of preorders or they would be written up or fired. That said, I was the best seller which meant nothing simply because I was honest with customers while he would schmooze. After this asl got most preorders MONTHS in a row and me having caught the oddity in the reports I pulled full reports and sent the findings to the regional manager. Two weeks later I was told I would be terminated at the end of the week. I proceeded to call every customer this was happening to(well over 100) and told them about it. On my last day there were 10 people in my store irate and yelling at him(I told them he'd be there my last day) and when I left i told him to enjoy himself.
Don't preorder or give money to anyone before the product is in your hand. It's their money if you forget and they want to keep it that way.

Shit man, that part about rolling over preorders, they tried that shit when I worked for them back from 2009 to 2011. I outright refused, one of the many rifts between me and my DM. And that’s up here in Canada I might add.

Dude you could turn this into a class action lawsuit if you got enough employees willing to testify against game stop!

GameStop filing bankruptcy would be good for everyone. It would open up an entire market place which was monopolized. More independent shops would open up. More customers would get better deals.

I'm telling yall a 3 letter pharmacy bring people from gamestop all the time to manage the stores and districts. They wanted us to work off the clock to keep hours down but when anything goes wrong like a customer complaint they fire people for being off the clock even though they where told to do so

I feel like I dodged a bullet when my GameStop employment came to an end after only a week. Back in high school a friend and I used to hang out at a local GameStop all the time and we'd spend quite a bit of money there. We made friends with one of the associates there who had worked there for years. After a few months that associate became the store manager just before the holiday season and asked us if we wanted jobs there as seasonal help, we already had jobs but we were told we'd get a discount and only have to work a few hours a week. I ended up only getting scheduled for 1 week for maybe 4 hours across 2 days and that was it. I was never told why but I was fine with it. The manager didn't even make it to Christmas. He had worked at GameStop for YEARS and lasted less than 30 days as a manager. Apparently GameStop has or had a policy where you could checkout the guides for games and the manager put the guide in his backpack and forget to check it out from the store, as soon as he got home and realized his mistake he called the assistant manager and let her know he accidentally took it home without checking it out, he offered to drive back to the store but the assistant manager said she would take care of it for him, instead she called the district manager as soon as he hung up the phone and said he was stealing from the store. The district manager called up the store manager and asked if it was true and he explained what happened and offered to drive back up to the store again and sort it out (he even offered to buy the guide instead of checking it out), the district manager told him not to worry about it but not to let it happen again. The next morning the store manager went to open the store and return the guide and he was greeted by the assistant manager and district manager who informed him he was fired for theft. He opened the door and threw the guide and his keys into the store and drove home.

I've never worked at GameStop, but I have heard enough stories to believe from you and the others that have shared their stories with you. I wouldn't be surprised if GameStop goes out of business in a few years. Bigger companies have fallen due to the corporate greed at the top. It serves them right to go under.
