    Marr really did stand out in the Dark Council. He didn't give a shit about Sith politics, he just did what was necessary to defend the Empire and died for it.

      And unlike all the other council members, Darth Marr never feared death. The very reason he fought so hard for the empire was because he felt his death approaching, so he wanted to leave a strong empire behind him.
      It's pretty obvious now that I think of it that the reason he singles out the imperial player character, who is still young and inexperienced compared to the old lords of the council, is because he wants to train them into a leader for the empire. Why else would he call out to a single young imperial, especially the Emperor's Wrath is a weird choice unless he specifically wanted someone who doesn't have ties to the dark council and their ways.
      He's one brilliant character.

      Selfless sith is an oxymoron by the definition. If a sith acts selflessly, he loses power. And if he loses power, he will fail to hold his position against those more powerful than him. Yeah, Marr is a cool character, but his efforts would've never been enough to fight against the sith way of life. Nor is it necessary. You don't grow flowers out of rocks.

      @dramwertz4833 3 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      @@user-ry6sx6uq2d altough the second one is true, a selfless sith can still exist. As long as smth extremely powerful unites these sith they can be "selfless" because in reality they work for themselves, for the knowledge that one day the Jedi will burn and that at some point they will pay for everything. A sith can fight for this goal alone, being "selfless"because it isnt important if the sith suceed in his lifetime. (Ofc this is only my opinion, not a statement)

    • @user-ry6sx6uq2d
      @user-ry6sx6uq2d 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@dramwertz4833 Oh, but one of the sith's greatest desires is to overcome their own mortality. And for an example of that you should look no further than Valkorion. Selfishness is a core and foundation of all sith philosophy. Everything a sith does is for his own ends. Being selfish of course does not mean being a psychopath, but in the end sith live not for any ideal, not for any cause, not for some greater goal but purely for themselves.

    • @dramwertz4833
      @dramwertz4833 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@user-ry6sx6uq2d yeah, i agree most sith are obviously extremely "physically" self centered (here as: they want to be all-powerful and live as they want). But in theory imo a sith can also be selfish by "fulfilling" his emotions. Ofc as soon as this would be fulfilled, hea cease to exist as an sith since he had no emotions to draw from anymore but thats why such large scale things as the revenge at the jedi work perfectly for that. And this means a sith could be completely selfish because he wants to fulfill HIS emotions/dreams/visions, wants to enact HIS revenge but doesnt care if somebody else wields HIS sword to do so. Thus he can devote his full life to making sure that this revenge will happen without ever centering on anything other. Only my opinion tho ofc. Realistically the fear of death is probably a too human thing to ever completely overcome, no matter how strong the hate

    The true Champion of the Empire and a man for the people. Marr is the epitome of everything that a Sith should aspire to be: courageous, ruthless, powerful, honest. When "Valkorion" killed him, I'm not going to lie, I cried a little bit. He deserved better than that bullshit but he died fighting relentless for what believed and for the future and the people of the Empire.

    Marr is so awesome. I liked him instantly from his few scenes in Annihilation, which was before I'd seen him properly in SWTOR. The idea of a sith who actually cares about the Empire and wants the infighting to end was very interesting. He was off-putting at first in Rise of the Hutt Cartel, but that might be because I had my Imperial Agent antagonize him because she doesn't really like sith. But after her adventures on Makeb, she came to understand him, and I imagined her becoming his champion. I really liked him in Shadow of Revan, and was very upset when he died. And I loved how he was honored with becoming a force ghost, because in the end, he truely was selfless.

    The one crucial difference between Marr, and most other Sith, while most sith thought of themselves first and foremost, Marr was thinking of the better interests of the empire. That is what he fought for, every step of the way. A better empire. When he died, it was a selfless act. He did not care if he died, he did not care for his own well being, all he cared about was stopping Valkorian from enslaving the Empire, and he would fight at any cost to keep it safe.

    • @balrok9959
      @balrok9959 4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      I think that is mostly thanks to his "previous" position in the Empire. He had the title "Defender of the Empire". He was the guy who fought defensive battles. When Empire was attacked Marr was sent to defend the Empire's planets. He was celebrated as the Hero of the Empire by its people. So I think during his career as the defender he comes to realize what he was defending. While other Sith were scheming and doing all for themselves he protected the Empire and everything Empire stands for. And when Empire was in Chaos he was the "head" of the Dark Council and took all responsibility for the Empire. He was the one that forged an alliance with Republic and it was also him that gathered the strike force against Darth Malgus.

    Marr was a leader I would follow.
    Principled but Pragmatic.
    Passionate and Driven, yet tempered by Reason.
    A commander with a stern but fair hand and the interests of his people at heart.
    I wouldn’t call him Emperor.
    Such a title implies he was akin to the very being he despised.
    Marr disdained internal politics, and put his focus on external politics.
    Personally I like the working relationship that an Inquisitor on the Council has with him, an ally to the rear to keep the infighting from crippling his efforts to hold the Empire together.

    Cant help but remember a rumor in game that someone, a moff or something, killed himself when he saw marr's real face. 😆 Then during the kotet when you get to preview armors on Marr it's a black man's face. 🤔

    Darth Marr one of my favorite Sith Lords! ❤️❤️❤️
    Spoiler alert❗
    - He fought for the Empire and tried to minimize the weakening internal struggles.
    - Is pragmatic and level-headed enough to value competence above racism (human or pureblood Sith superiority).
    - His pragmatism allowed him to agree to a truce with Republic forces to arrest Revan and attempt to halt the Emperor's efforts.
    - Refused to kneel to Valkorion and despite his claims is open-minded enough to recognize the correct Jedi Code mantra "There is no Death, there is only the Force" and become a Force ghost to teach Outlander alongside Satele Shan (recognized as her only equal in the galaxy) to ultimately contribute to the final defeat of Tenebra/Vitiate/Valkorion and become one with the Force!

      Nox is great, but I've always felt that the Wrath is better. The Wrath is powerful, progressive and a veritable one-man-army. Special enough to gain the attention of the Emperor, and as we know, the emperor doesn't really give a crap about anything at all.

    He's the oposite of Jorus C'baoth. C'baoth was a Jedi who found himself a superior being, always wanted the jedi to enslave the galaxy and in the end he fell to the dark side. Marr on the other hand was a sith who wanted to gain power but not in his favout but for the benefit of the sith empire. And in the end he surrendered himself to the light side which allowed him to be a force ghost.
