Do you know if the cover he took off fits over the radio still?
Very informative video as I've just decided to upgrade my 2000. As my unit comes with a rear USB port, and I was planning to install a flush mount USB extension socket, is there enough clearance behind the blank panel used to cover the ashtray location to mount a socket and run the cable?
If you are worried about using that sawzall just use the cutting blade and a pair of vice grips it cut really well . Didn't half to worry about cutting wires are other things

Muh dude! This is the preferred way cause $80 damn dollars for a dash kit is ridiculous. At the end of the day the fit is pretty much the same as if you were to buy the dash kit. Already spent $300 for my Alpine ILX-650 for my 05 TJ, its a kick in the balls to have to pay almost $100 for an install part.

Cant believe what I just saw, bought my TJ 4 weeks back which i'm well chuffed with however the idiot who had it before me drilled the center bezzle dash and wrecked it.. I've been thinking about if its possible to do exactly what you just shown to us all.. top video and many thanks.

My 97 has a much different stereo, it's single din. Wondering if I can go double din now???
you can go double din but it will be a whole different dash bezel
About ripped my shit off 2 seconds ago. Found this video and low and behold the ashtray screw. Had to walk away I was so pissed.
