    Great looking Jeep! I like what you are doing. I have Grandpa's 69 CJ5 (red) but it always needs work so I just bought a 97 TJ from an old local guy that daily drove 292k miles on it. Got it so my son, daughter and myself to get out wheeling more. Enjoy!

    I have a stock TJ on 33s, and its climbed more downed pines and been sunk up to the axles in mud with water flowing through the cab more times than I can count. You dont have to have a rock crawler to enjoy your Jeep. Really like the fenders and 35s. That's definitely on my wish list. Nice jeep man.

    Nice ride. I have a 2005 Jeep TJ Rubicon I purchased new. It has 82k miles and I love it. Stripped the interior and had it rhino lined. 2.5 in lift but only went up to 32" tires. Plan is to go to 35 in a few months. Paint was getting a bit tired, so had a friend with a auto wrap shop do a complete black camo wrap. I have after market front and rear bumpers, but as my rear bumper being a Barricade Classic, I haven't found accessories where I can mount fuel cans etc. I did add a Cat Back exhaust and it sounds great. Upgraded the brakes and calibers and steering. As my wife says, she's my expensive mistress. However, when I hear her complain about the cost of something I buy for the jeep, all I have to say is "it beats having a car payment". Aside from tires, my next planned accessory is a portable HAM radio unit. Mine came with a soft and hard top and while I agree, storage for the hard top is a pain, but I'm keeping my hard top for the added security it offers for any gear I have in the jeep.

Just Raptor lined the interior and exterior. I used the Raptor liner Professional adjustable spray gun. Gave me a really nice Raptor liner on the exterior not to thick. Being I live in the Southwest it really nice to have the Raptor liner becase the desert bush and mesquite really pin strip your paint job. I got the full quarter body armour and fenders. Armor it as a priority. The metal cloak rails are great and would seamlessly integrate with your fenders.
    Recovery would be next if you're planning on wheeling at all.
    I wouldn't mess with the front end (steering components and such) unless they give you trouble.
    Great build and excellent low mileage example.

    Great looking build. I've been looking for one myself, but it's really hard to find one with a ton of miles. I have been sort of going back and forth between a Jeep and Toyota FJ40. A Jeep might be better from a daily driver standpoint and parts availability. I had a CJ5 years ago and would like to find a good Jeep at a reasonable price without a million miles on it. Well, before ya offroad your jeep, u r definately going to have to upgrade a few things. The first thing to go will b ring and pinion gear. Secondly, once u change gearing for the 35's, u will start popping stock axles. Once u upgrade to chomoly axles u should b able to keep the 35's. U will also wanna upgrade your upper and lower control arms as u will find they bend quite easily. I want u to not have to learn the expensive hard way like i did with my tj build. Beautiful jeep. B safe and keep that frame clean. They like to rust.

    • @street_legal_go_kart7356
      @street_legal_go_kart7356 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can run 33s on a TJ with a 2-inch lift and some cutting and still have good suspension travel. There's absolutely no way to fit 35s on a TJ with no lift we need a minimum of a 2in true Highline fenders in the front and lots of cutting in the rear and you have to pull the rear axle back about 2 in. What's required genright fuel tank and relocate the spring brackets.
      That was my plan when I had my TJ. 99tjsahara i had 14 years .

    • @RKmndo
      @RKmndo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@street_legal_go_kart7356 Cut the pinch welds in the rear and re-weld. 35s fit with tubed fenders and a simple 1" bodylift. If they rub the tube fenders a little it's no big deal.
      In-coil airbags can add even more clearance if offroad needs require it.

Doubt I’ll go larger than 33. Will be highlining front and rear and pretty much be it. Then like you said, beef up what will be needed

    • @RKmndo

      Check out in-coil airbags. They help avoid sag with a heavy load and you can use them with an onboard air setup to add height if you founder your low-COG rig. They run about $100/axle these days. IMO, they're ideal for an LJ that gets used for towing or hauling a lot.

    How much weight can those tire carriers carry? I know they make hitch mounted racks for dirt bikes, but I thought it’d be really nice to mount a 250cc dirt bike to a swing out tire carrier contraption like this, for easy access to the rear.

    My first Jeep was a red 97 TJ, I gave that up in college, my second Jeep was a 2005 Sahara, which I had to sell when I got divorced. Two weeks ago, the kid and I picked up a 2006 TJ, which we've been exploring the PNW with. We only plan to use the Jeep for exploring the PNW (Olympic Peninsula). We've made a few modes, 4.88 gears, 33" tall tires, front and rear limited slip differentials, next we are going to add a roof tent (for camping), I want to add the setup like you have on the back of your jeep (so parts would be cool for what you have there). I'm on the fence about the soft-top vs hardtop but I agree with your points on soft over top. But sweet TJ, we are really enjoying the Jeep and should post some TH-cam videos one of these days. But what was the rear bumper/tire holder setup? :D Thank you.

      Why? Going down any trail with puddles or hills would scrub the rearend

    • @RKmndo
      @RKmndo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Foof50 He gained about 2.5" of lift under the diffs and bumpers from just installing 35s vs the stock 30s. Sidehilling is not a problem in a low COG rig like this. It also tends to be pretty stable on the highway. With a 1" bodylift and 1" motormount lift, he can install high-clearance skids and have better breakover than many TJs with suspension lifts. The Jeep also fits in tight off-camber canyons and under branches or in garages better.
      If I was going to add a suspension lift, I'd consider just a 1"-2" spring lift with in-coil airbags for 2"-4" coils. Inflate when you want more height or load-leveling. Deflate when you want to be low. Airbags connected left-right even aid articulation. Long-arms might even allow more droop, as long as shocks, brakehoses, etc. weren't limiting factors.
