  • Boat Ramp Rider had another crazy thing happen before leaving Black Point Marina. The entire safety chain exploded off the trailer almost causing the boat to spring off of the ramp. Sometimes we have bad days boating but this guy is having the worst day ever. Don't forget to watch part one of this video its a good one !

    Alfred you assimilate to your environment, I do the same. Put me around a Scotsman and I'll have a brogue in 30 minutes. That F150 was "Gangster" for sure. He probably had it in 4X4. Hey everyone, so this is "Part 2" and like I said in "Part 1", wait for it. I met Alfred a couple of days ago while in the area visiting family, he is a genuine person, what you hear and see on YT is the same in person. It makes sense why so many people in the boating industry flock to him and lend their support (Sunk Verado, etc..) It is a testament to his success in this competitive field. When I met him and mentioned he had over 100K subscribers, it was a slip of the tongue because I really meant his recent passing of 200K and growing. I was nervous around this "King" and celebrity! I have watched every one of his videos and know more about the channel than he does, LOL, he said it not me!! Let me tell everyone this, he is built like I am, 6'5" 225, so don't mess with him. I can go on and on but I don't want to over do it. Hit the "LIKE and subscribe" button. Ya! I'm dropping the MIC!.

    Alfred, as a Public Safety Diver for years, don’t ask me how I know but a good safety PSA would be to remind people to NEVER stand between a towing vehicle and a trailer on a boat ramp. From my experience witnessing the potential aftermath, vehicles slide into the water a lot faster than humans can move in the water.☠️ Also, ALWAYS SET YOUR PARKING BRAKE as soon as you stop and get out on the ramp. If possible, chock your back wheels too. A big one that I see all the time is NEVER leave people in the vehicle while you’re on the ramp except for the person driving. Picture trying to get a kiddo out of a car seat in a submerged vehicle.
    Most importantly… LEARN TO DRIVE A TRAILER BEFORE YOU COME TO THE RAMP. Take some traffic cones to a big empty parking lot and practice until it’s perfect. Then go to the boat ramp off hours/off season. You’ll have a heck of a lot happier fellow boaters. Be safe out there and have fun!

    • @stunick1573
      @stunick1573 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      If you watch this boat and the one next to it were not positioned on the trailers right. Both were still floating which would be correctable if it was just the strap holding the boat as it is pulled out and the stern settles into the cradle of the trailer. But as you watched they spent ten minutes adding a ridged locking connector to the eyelet and that caused a fulcrum to form under the boat as it came out of the water and the stern settled making the eyelet the weakest link. I've never seen that ridged device used before, most people add a chain in that roll which would have been more flexible and prevented the eyelet tearing out.

    • @Cerus98
      @Cerus98 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@stunick1573 - If you zoom in and pause just before it breaks, you can see what appears to be a length of chain attached to the tongue at two points about 1’ apart with some kind of turnbuckle connected between the keel and the mid point of the chain.
      It doesn’t appear to be rigged together at the last minute but I’ve never seen such a rigid method used to secure a pleasure boat. Definitely the cause of the fulcrum effect you mentioned.
      I’m actually surprised the keel eyelet gave out before the chain or turnbuckle. I bet this is their regular method of securing the boat and they’ve slowly been weakening the eyelet.

      I think what actually may have happened was they secured the boat to the trailer with the chain too early and too tight. As they started up the ramp the back of the boat lowered when it became less buoyant, the front was under too much tension, hence why it pulled the eyelet out of the hull.

    No doubt the F150 is not enough truck for that boat. My first observation is he put the trailer too deep in the water. You don't want to winch the boat tight to the bow stop while the boat is floating because then when you pull it out the boat will want to settle on the trailer which will cause tremendous stress on the winch and strap and bow eye and this is what happens. You need put the trailer only deep enough to power load the boat. This way the boat is sitting in it's proper place on the trailer. The weight of the boat is on the trailer, not being pulled up by the winch. When you load the boat it should not be floating when you pull the trailer out. You want the weight of the boat on the bunks. You should be able to pull it out without even having the winch hooked up. But of course you want to hook it up for safety. The point when the strap or bow eye broke at 17:55 is where the trailer should have been while loading the boat.

    Bro; that F150 probably had the 3.5l Ecoboost engine. That’s a twin turbo with huge torque. Those trucks tow 10,000 lbs plus easily and they have aluminum bodies which reduces the truck weight by like 800 lbs. Aluminum body is also great in saltwater environments too! I bought one to pull a camper and it was the best choice of all the trucks I looked at!

    I can’t understand why Americans don’t have roller trailers like we do in Australia. It would save drowning your cars at the ramp

      We do, but mostly in fresh water scenarios. That salt water eats the bearings fast.

    The bow eye ripped out because they didn’t have the boat all the way up on the bunks. All they had to do is put the truck further into the water.

    The boat didn't have stern on the bunks, it was floating. When they pulled forward the stern settle onto the bunks. Bow went up and popped the chain. Somebody else may have pointed this out and I missed it. 😀

    I've wondered how those hoops are attached to the boat and how much tension they can handle... "Not very well" and "Not very much", now what? ;-)

    It did not look like the boat was seated on the trailer all the way which led to that eyehook disengaging.

    An F-150 is rated for 14,000lbs, that boat was nothing for that truck. It needs bigger tires, but other than that, nice truck.
