Just following up on some of the comments RE deliveries being delayed. I have the official line from Ford now. All deliveries and sales have been halted due to a turbocharger issue originating from the remanufacturing process - full details here: www.carexpert.com.au/car-news/ford-f-150-sales-and-deliveries-halted-after-remanufacturing-fault
Ordered mine and placed a deposit in April 2022. Was told I was number 6 in Australia. From this June through to December, I just got all sorts of excuses why my truck was late. Then on the 20th of December told that my truck has gone to another customer and they'd have to organise another to be built and remanufactured. Was likely to be delivered after Easter 2024 now. Have now cancelled my order and got my deposit back. Is the worst new car experience ever! Never buying a Ford ever again!

Sorry to hear that - that sucks. I was pretty shocked to see the condition of the service centre I took my Raptor to two weeks ago for its first major service. It looked like a backyard mechanic - certainly not the place I'd want to be buying a $140k vehicle from.

Wearing steel caps or larger boots is tricky 3) The stupid idle noise it makes. I know this is not a problem, but it supposedly the straight cut gears Ford used in the auto’s oil pump. Sounds like you have a belt problem, all the time.. 4) I don’t love the indicator on the left. It is not a problem when driving the F150 as there is nothing on the right to confuse with, but when you get back in another car…. 5) These cars sit around for ages while they get made, then shipped, then transported then converted then Transported again. The paint on mine was pretty average condition due to being ‘washed’ when dirty by people who need to wash a lot of cars quickly. Everything else in mine was top notch. It so far seems to do everything we wanted from a ‘Tow Pony’ and am interested to see how it goes long term.
I'm almost 2 years into waiting for my order in the US and finally got a build date (F450 King Ranch). It's incredible that you can get a converted truck in Australia in under 3 months.

A few other American Ford imports that may do well in Australia would be the Ford Bronco (shares with the Ranger), the Bronco Sport, and the Maverick(both share with the Escape). It would be interesting to see how they fare down under.
I ordered the F150 in July 2022, I was then told delays in shipping. Three months into 2023 and was told arriving in may, then was told that the car was getting the conversion done in July. August I received an email saying the vehicle didn't arrive in Australia (WTF Is going on Ford) I called the dealership and they told me that they have no idea to what is happening, very professional. I cancelled the order and ordered a RAM Limited in August. Ram told me the delivery date is in the first week of December 2023. And they were not lying. It's been three weeks now with the RAM and would not change it for anything. Thank God that I didn't stick with the F150.
Just an interesting thing I noticed, but check out the gap between the back of the steering wheel and the steering column shroud @16:00. My eyes were drawn straight to it!
Ordered one in February. Dealer discovered water leak in mine and their showroom model. They showed vehicle and where water was building up in right hand sill. Ford engineers looked into it and came up with solution to problem. Delivery in early December delayed. Ford has fixed problem. Delivery date was then changed to 20th December. On 18th December had phone call saying all deliveries have been suspended by Ford . What is going on?
Love it. Brings back memories of my old F100 4x4 and F250 4x4 back in the 70's. V8 magic could go anywhere. No problem on bushy narrow tracks, just go over bushes. Oh man, need some timetravel device😂😂😂
When I do the conversion to USD it seems expensive (I'm paying slightly more for an F450 KR). Then I consider the cost of the RHD conversion and it isn't that bad.
Hey Paul, all the F150's have been recalled. Something to do with the turbo hose? not telling owners much and no idea when delivery will be! Disappointing way to start the release really.
Ordered mine in the King Ranch trim with the long wheel base. Looking to do some towing/hauling. Got an email saying the production is delayed. Thanks for the video. Gives me an idea on what it can do.
@@rich7447 Interesting. Just changed my order to an F350. Hopefully it wont take that long. Been monitoring the weekly production schedule and they seem to be moving along steadily. I am in the states.

That gross weight law in Australia is a killer. It’s safer to haul around people and things in a vehicle like this rather than with a light vehicle to avoid the law.
I would love to see them bring the PowerBoost over here. But knowing Ford and their overzealous pricing structure, it'd be priced at over $160k. And the small payload is to compensate for our 4.5t licencing requirements.
The trailer control thing kills me! If you move your hand from the top of the wheel to the bottom of the wheel you can steer like you are backing the truck up without the trailer and the trailer responds like the back of the truck would. I have no issues parallel parking a 53' trailer without trailer control.
Ford have stopped production due to safety concerns apparently. Was told mine would be ready about Christmas but that has passed. I wonder what the issues are that they’ve found ?
This is type of vehicle that you buy if you need one. Not want one. But you have to appreciate the effort to bring in from US and convert after years of people begging. So people, go buy or lose. Simples. There is nothing quite like US pick up trucks anywhere else in the world. Unfortunately Australian Roads, car parks, shopping centres have not been designed for these mammoth vehicles and that can make it challenging in real life use. Probably best suited for regional areas.
That is a completely unexpected question. Full size trucks usually have their crumple zones built into the vehicles that they are involved in collisions with. I had a Scion xB run into my rear bumper doing about 40 mph more than I was doing. Destroyed the Scion and scratched my (Ram 2500) hitch receiver. I barely felt the collision.
Great & thorough review as always Paul! Some very nice bells & whistles features, although more things to go wrong down the track. Hard to justify the price tag, especially with a Ford badge on it. Deal breaker for me is having a petrol engine instead of a diesel engine, which would perfectly match such a behemoth for towing & much improved fuel consumption, especially with a 10 speed auto. I doubt that those fuel figures quoted are really accurate & would be surprised one can achieve less than 20L/100 km (unladen & motorway cruising) with a petrol engine in the real world. There is big difference in what the computer says & actual fuel consumption. Curious as to whether you actually test the fuel consumption at the fuel bowser instead of what is on the onboard computer?
The turn signals sticking on - I think that is the lane change feature. If you just tap the signal stalk up or down, but don't fully click it in, it will flash the indicators whatever way for a few seconds for a lane change.
Is it just the camera making the gap between the steering wheel and its shroud? Looks bigger than on most cars. While not something we really see it might be something to show true conversion quality. I love it. I have no issues with them as long as people are using them for what they are made for. If just living in the inner city then it's a bad joke but if you live in the country or do a lot of trips outside of the city and if you need to tow then they are the perfect vehicle. The torque output is amazing for a 3.5L turbo petrol engine. When you look at great ford engines like the Barra turbo engines even in FPV specs it produced over 100NM less torque than what this engine is putting out.
Yep Obviously these r much cheaper in USA The RRP here, needs to cover - Shipping to Australia Exchange rate Ford Australia feasibility and R & D costs etc Cost of conversion to RHD here in Australia Ford is using a company called “ RMA “ to do the conversion. RMA ain’t doing the work for free.. Warranty here is 5 years / unlimited mileage Ford Australia say RMA can convert 20 vehicles per day. In theory, that’s 5,000 vehicles per year, that ALL of these costs need to be absorbed into Hence The high price here 🤷🏻♂️
Paul. You hardly ever have a close up of the heater controls. Something buyers really would like to see as they vary significantly across models and manufacturers. (as you well know). Oh and I suppose it has stupid left hand indicators.
"Most ridiculous thing in the world" As a Canadian, I thought this statement was very odd. This is a real truck. Anything smaller than a 150 is just a toy. Welcome to big boy trucks.
Thing is though most people that can afford a van that’s 4.5t isn’t going for a 150 they would have a f250,350. It’s the perfect Ute to tow a 2.5-3.5 van easily
One of the most ridiculously oversized vehicles on the road. Very few people that don't live in rural areas need one. What are people lacking in their lives that leads them to buy these 'look at me' vehicles. Yet another thing from America we don't need.
A more appropriate question is, what’s lacking in your life when you click on a video purely to complain about it and in particular its country of origin? What sad, isolated part of the country do you live in where a 140k, grey, dual cab is a “look at me” purchase?😂
@@ev0wat - people can spend their money on whatever they like. But the problem is that they should be taxed if they are used in the city. They simply don't fit. Councils are talking about increasing the size of parking spaces to accommodate them. Why should my ratepayer funds go towards that?
@@ev0wat Miserable socialist peasantry. Buy what you want, be happy. If you keep it spotless and haul nothing but you're happy, that's all that counts.
So. Essentially, the RHD conversion is USD40K. Big price to pay for being in a RHD market. Imagine you could get yourself a pretty good crew cab Isuzu truck 4x4 for a lot less even if you include the 2k for a MR licence. But if we're being fair dinkum people are really buying these for reasons to do with image rather than for towing.
“Cars” is a bit of a stretch when talking about these XXXL American monsters… different license plus a Europe style tax for each additional kilo over a specific weight would be awesome…
Had no issues parking it at our apartment and at the shops. There are plenty of cameras and sensors. In terms of fitting it in a lane, it's 2mm wider than a Ranger Raptor.
Nice review I wounder if the top speed limiter can be removed because if I do decide to spend that kind of insane money I want to go 300km bare minimum 😊
Ford only offers the regular cab in the lowest trim level (XL) in the F150. Australia isn't getting that low a trim level. It would be difficult to recover the conversion costs on a bottom of the line pickup and the market would be very limited. They do offer the Super Duty regular cab in XL and XLT trims.
its not the end of the world, BUT in America its cheaper and full of features made for left-hand side use. for this price tag, I am expecting the same not less.
No need to justify “loving” a “big American truck” in the preamble! They have a purpose and are fantastic to tow safely with, and more comfortable than most on the road. I’m done with those with no need for one or no idea telling the rest of us what we can or should drive! I drive a RAM 2500.
So they limit it in Australia 4 tons but if it's equipped with the right package it can pulls 7 tons but that one you have there. in the US is rated to pull 6 tons it's still nice
You would have to have no self preservation instincts to pull 7 metric tons with a F150. That is more that I would be comfortable towing with an F250 and I have towed trailers with gross weights over 45000 lbs.
@@maltainu3621 of course it matters. The V8 is a high revving performance engine, not a high torque engine which is what’s needed for towing. A good engine for the Mustang, not a pickup truck.
$140,000 it just seems ridiculous so many acceptable faults due to Australian customisation a very unpractical truck for Australia with a unrealistic price tag, is anyone going to buy a V6 150 that looks like it’s turned inside out?
Long term testing in my Ranger raptor shows an about 8% fuel consumption increase when switching to 91 instead of 98, with about 10% cheaper fuel, so you save maybe 2%, but with the decrease in performance. I don't think it's worth it for such a small fuel saving. Might just set the cruise to 103 instead of 106 on the freeway and you'll save the same, and stay on 98.
Valid use case for towing something heavy, but these trucks in the city are 200% as likely to kill a person in an accident (source: ETSC study), consume way more fuel than other vehicles, and painful to park. Shame some ppl need a giant, inefficient truck to feel like a really big, tough man...

Paul, can you get the GVM Upgrade numbers? They are substantial.
Probably best suited for regional areas.
from the us and boy does that look strange with the interior flipped from what we have it lol

Ur gunna need a bigger hat there son !!! 😂
Ur Gunna need a bigger wallet for ongoing maintenance.
@@buncha5651 1/2 ton maintenance is relatively cheap.
Gday Paul, love your reviews but at 5:56 is it 300mm shorter than the short wheel base?
Na he meant longer
Thank you Paul!
Could you please tell us how many airbags a car has under the safety section.
Thanks Frank!
@@CarExpertAus Apologies Paul, always get your name mixed up with your partner in crime.
What colour is the truck in this video? Is this Silver or Grey?
So May i ask this one is the Silver one or Gray
Hey Paul, whens the new model 3 2024 review coming out? @carexpert
17:18 - is that a gear selector on the wheel at the bottom of the freeze frame there?
Wow, you are really getting hosed with the price! I ordered an F150XL new for 2022 out the door at 37k and change! Keep an eye out for the recalls!!
Yep
Obviously these r much cheaper in USA
The RRP here, needs to cover -
Shipping to Australia
Exchange rate
Ford Australia feasibility and R & D costs etc
Cost of conversion to RHD here in Australia
Ford is using a company called “ RMA “ to do the conversion.
RMA ain’t doing the work for free..
Warranty here is
5 years / unlimited mileage
Ford Australia say RMA can convert 20 vehicles per day.
In theory, that’s 5,000 vehicles per year, that ALL of these costs need to be absorbed into
Hence
The high price here
🤷🏻♂️
@@StephenFogarty2023 The price in Australia is not bad all things considered.
Paul. You hardly ever have a close up of the heater controls. Something buyers really would like to see as they vary significantly across models and manufacturers. (as you well know). Oh and I suppose it has stupid left hand indicators.
"Most ridiculous thing in the world"
As a Canadian, I thought this statement was very odd. This is a real truck. Anything smaller than a 150 is just a toy. Welcome to big boy trucks.
Is the 2024 better than the 2023?
This one is a 2023. It's not the redesign for 2024
Do you review the Alfa Romeo Tonale 2024 ? Thanks
No we won't be reviewing it.
That's nuts...as quick as a Golf GTI but weighs as much as a house hahaha
It weighs less than a ranger. It’s smaller than a transit van and many other vehicles as well. Idk why people act like it’s so ridiculously large.
@@raymonds7492 Agreed. This is an entry level full size pickup.
Why aren't we talking about the terrible gear box
Love your reviews
Shame the 10r80 wasn't mentioned
Please you tube this before purchasing this
im guessing the window opens over the tub?
I am yet to see one actually used as a utility vehicle, always bare with not a mark of dust.
@@king-pn4bjand? Why do you care? People can do what they want with their money.
These cars should require a higher class of drivers license imo. I nearly got rammed by a RAM with a young driver.
Dang hope they bought you dinner first
Plenty of crap drivers driving all sorts of vehicles, don't think cars are the problem here....
“Cars” is a bit of a stretch when talking about these XXXL American monsters… different license plus a Europe style tax for each additional kilo over a specific weight would be awesome…
@@roohbirS "Monsters" is a bit of a stretch. Sure, tax for excess kg, maybe check how much family size EV's will be weighing, be sure to include them?
So...@@roohbirS.... you can't afford one?
These are made for spacious American road networks not Australian narrow pothole roads.
Ever seen a road train? A B Double perhaps? Even a normal semi trailer? A Bus?
Where would you park that when you go shopping
Driver says, ''hey honey/buddy/son, can you punch into the keypad 67,98,34,56 and 33 to unlock the doors..''
Them, 'gives a blank stare...'
“This really is a versatile vehicle”. Sure unless you want to park it or fit it in a lane
Or fit in your garage
@@JJ-vy2rh If you don't live on several acres in the country then you don't need and shouldn't be buying a pickup.
Had no issues parking it at our apartment and at the shops. There are plenty of cameras and sensors. In terms of fitting it in a lane, it's 2mm wider than a Ranger Raptor.
@@CarExpertAusjust showed @BLD999 he doesn't know what he is talking about. Maybe learn to drive little better mate
A standard carpark in Aus is 5.4m, this is 6.2m plus tow bar. It’s not even close.
F150 over a Trundra any day. It drives better. It handles better and it's more confortable.
New Tundra does everything better, F-150 over the last gen but the 5.7 in the Tundra was a solid unit.
Is it ever not raining at that testing ground.
We have the worst luck!
Thats not a 2024, thats a 23. They got a small redesign for 24
Yup.
That gap between the steering wheel and the dash…is it meant to be that big?
There's not an angle on the screen. Ford AUS have confirmed this. No idea what you guys are talking about with that one...
Such a nice truck! I wish i could afford one these days
Please review the Nissan Titan
Nice review I wounder if the top speed limiter can be removed because if I do decide to spend that kind of insane money I want to go 300km bare minimum 😊
Looks great thanks
Bounce 🏀 bounce
I asume that driving a overloaded vehicle is not an issue in usa... (like in many other countries)
It is if the DOT catches you.
F250 V8 Diesel Great tow vehicle.
Love this vehicle it's the absolute polar opposite of the vomitron/Tesla 😅
why no single cab ?
Because they're just for show offs.
Baller.
its not the end of the world, BUT in America its cheaper and full of features made for left-hand side use. for this price tag, I am expecting the same not less.
No need to justify “loving” a “big American truck” in the preamble!
They have a purpose and are fantastic to tow safely with, and more comfortable than most on the road. I’m done with those with no need for one or no idea telling the rest of us what we can or should drive!
I drive a RAM 2500.
We don't drive Obama/Government Motors Dodge Ram or Chevy trucks here in Missouri..they are made in Kansas City Missouri..thanks
You should review the new Tesla Model 3 and also the Performance version when it comes out
Isn't this a 2023 model?
So they limit it in Australia 4 tons but if it's equipped with the right package it can pulls 7 tons but that one you have there. in the US is rated to pull 6 tons it's still nice
Pretty sure it’s capped over the licence requirements
@@medz3398yea it’s a shame. Much safer to tow with a full size truck than a crossover or car.
You would have to have no self preservation instincts to pull 7 metric tons with a F150. That is more that I would be comfortable towing with an F250 and I have towed trailers with gross weights over 45000 lbs.
The coyote v8 not begin an option is a major deal breaker, who wouldn't want to have the same as a Mustang and the xr8's over some gutless v6
That “gutless” V6 has more power and more torque than the V8.
@@tonyn1991 literally doesn't but ok
@@maltainu3621 ok, so power is the same, but the V6 has a lot more torque, and at much lower revs.
@@tonyn1991 doesn't matter its not a v8
@@maltainu3621 of course it matters. The V8 is a high revving performance engine, not a high torque engine which is what’s needed for towing. A good engine for the Mustang, not a pickup truck.
$140,000 it just seems ridiculous so many acceptable faults due to Australian customisation a very unpractical truck for Australia with a unrealistic price tag, is anyone going to buy a V6 150 that looks like it’s turned inside out?
Are there any economy benefits using higher grade fuels? Any chance of another vid, like the performance vid?
There are slight economy benefits, but 91 is the most cost effective. 95 or 98 will never save enough fuel to justify the extra cost.
Hp and torque?
400 hp 410 torque on the 5.0 v8
400 hp and 500 lb ft for the 2024 with the 3.5L
Review of Toyota fortuner 4.0 v6
Valid use case for towing something heavy, but these trucks in the city are 200% as likely to kill a person in an accident (source: ETSC study), consume way more fuel than other vehicles, and painful to park.
Shame some ppl need a giant, inefficient truck to feel like a really big, tough man...
Australian truck prices are ridiculously high! 95k usd? For a goddamn lariat?
Those tyres are not give the truck a fair shake to show what it can really do in 4 wheel drive mode.
