      as adults we have to take responsibility for choosing bad people, knowing they are bad people for us many times from the jump and despite the information we know about them already and even as it develops when it comes out more and more. we are in the wrong and that's ok and healthy to know. but ultimately we are in the wrong. trisha was in the wrong. not only personally but professionally - she runs a business and you have to vet the people you work with. i think when we are living in unhealed places we choose unhealed people. trish choose people who would hurt her and seemed catty and quite corrupt in how they had friendships. most of us regular folk just choose unhealthy people who struggle to communicate their issues with us and come to mature resolutions. trish was choosing people in the youtube sphere that really matched where she was at. people who would be outwardly destructive and keniving to others. and she seemed to have a tendency to hurt others and be keniving too. most people don't have the privilege of having public information about someone's tendencies and reputation and malicious actions- but trisha had this about colleen and still engaged with her. she didn't have to come out and call colleen out but she could have kept a distance. she had more than enough information to keep a distance and not done a podcast.
      you have a mature perspective adam. you are right. she is responsible for not making better decisions with abundantly public and clear information that should had made her take the decision to keep that distance. again she could had just kept her crappy behind the scenes friendship with colleen but said no to public collaborations because the information was clearly a red flag. she has to own that and that will allow her to heal and not repeat these behaviours. and it is ok to own that. it is healthy.
      trisha is feeling guilt and shame because of her own experience, choices and responsibility in all this. she had information but still enabled an abuser. she feels the reality of that. i would encourage you to not soothe people when they are admitting their challenges and associated feelings. not because they don't deserve soothing but because it's not your responsibility to validate these people - you did that for kody, johnny and do that for trisha. they all need mental health supports and they have their own network of individuals. you are not responsible to validate them and forgive them. it's something they have to process and then when they have unpacked everything they can come and you can offer something to you and then if you want to you can offer them something. but i think if i were to advise you anything - to protect your spirit. you have already done so much in terms of offering forgiveness and so i want you to know and internalize as best as you can that you have done enough and do not need to continue to validate and forgive these (older) adults.

    Documentaries consist of official, factual record or reports. That is why swoops videos are so well done. Shane talking about conspiracies is the exact opposite of the definition of documentary. Documentary… documented. Documented information.

    • @ihavenodesiretocreateahandle
      @ihavenodesiretocreateahandle ปีที่แล้ว +29

      yeah... iirc, "documentary" is a fusion of the words "documented (information)" and "commentary." It's like a highly informational video/series of officially, verifiably true, documented records of events; with commentary/a speaker.
      Conspiracy "documentaries" used to have a fusion word of "commentary" and "conspiracy," but no one really used it.. It was "commspiracy" I think?? It's weird how Shane's conspiracy-commentary series is seen as a "conspiracy docu-series" because _how can something be conspiracy AND be documented?_ the very point of "conspiracy" is that there's no/inaccessible documentation.

    • @Lucifersfursona
      @Lucifersfursona ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Shane trying to salvage his image as a multi-documented sex pest against children and animals is the other side of the moon from Swoop, an actual survivor of the things she’s talking about, putting in months and months of ethical investigative journalism and care for the well-being of survivors and victims at the forefront of her work.
      Shane wants people to think of his inhumane predations as drama, Spankie goes out of her way to assert the things she covers shouldn’t be considered internet drama when she mostly covers ethical crimes legalized or not.

    • @Lucifersfursona
      @Lucifersfursona ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@ihavenodesiretocreateahandle in regards to documented conspiracies, it’s more that people extrapolate extra information from documented materials. @@timeforkuuchanIn a perfect world, yeah!
      Though I think subjects such as this require more sensitive care and personal touch than something like a nature film. Even then, in a lot of shows/videos I don’t think the face/narrator of them is seen to have very obvious bias. Like, think of a serial killer documentary, or a random Netflix documentary, or a documentary about some science phenomenon. I’d think there’s some level of bias in these, maybe not as obvious as Swoop’s but in her case, she offers real experience and genuine emotion.
      I’d like to say that in my thoughts, Swoop’s work could probably be in between both genres of “Documentary” and “Journalism.” Where moving parts blur the lines between fact-driven, investigative, and informative, all tied together with documentary style editing and personal experience from herself.
      Also to throw this out there, a TH-camr like Coffeezilla definitely would be more aligned with “Journalism” in my opinion.
      Someone like Mr. Snowflake on TH-cam with his content definitely seems more purely “Documentary.”
      I think Swoop is somewhere in the middle.
      Not that it super duper matters to me, but it is interesting to think about and try to categorize. I do appreciate the scale and effort Swoop puts in, and overall the semantics of what to label her production doesn’t affect me.

    This is my take, I could be wrong but hear me out: when something like this comes up, everybody has a way that they initially react. Hers was to be hesitant and not immediately abandon her friend. And it makes total sense that she did not initially understand the severity or the details of what the heck everyone was talking about. Nobody did at first. I sure as heck didn't. And that doesn't mean she didn't care that means she's a normal human with her own life in which she knew jack shit about you or what Coleen did at first. And then didn't believe it. And then within a matter of days, realized. Which is a very quick period of to time realize something so shocking and unexpected. There was a period of denial which is very normal when a grief filled reality like this is thrown upon you and you loose a friend who turns out to have been evil all along. You think she didn't care like Coleen or Johnny, no, she just didn't understand initially! You're traumatized from dealing with manipulators like Coleen and Johnny in your youth, which is the whole reason why what they did is evil in the first place. What Trisha says makes perfect sense. As someone who struggles with PTSD and has a lot of trauma that lead to me spiraling and having severe emotiona reactions I understand and appreciate that Trisha didn't act right away but stepped back, assessed, processed and went through the emotions before articulating herself on the situation. In fact my therapist taught me how to do that in order to even be able to communicate on serious matters. I don't think she would do you the case any favors had she articulated herself purely out of chaotic unsorted emotions without any logic or comprehension on the matter. It would be messy and a spectacle for all the wrong reason and it would be a "trisha freakshow" which would take away from the seriousness of the matter. She went on as normal while processing her thoughts and feelings, getting all the facts before reacting; i think it's honorable.

    This disagreement between Adam and Trisha is beyond annoying at this point. I would really like Adam to reflect on the dissonance between how he has said himself "she never had to talk about it if she didnt want to" since in this situation she was violated, and also a victim who should not have felt pressured to have to say anything & the idea that she did something wrong here in taking her time to react, gather her information, process, think through how to end it with colleen, decide if she was going to say anything. How can you be mad at her for not processing it immediately and yet also believe she never had to say anything at all. Say what you want about her but she did NOTHING and I mean not a single thing wrong in this situation. I mean for god sakes wasnt Adam allowed to change his mind on Cody Tyler? Have one opinion and then change it after thinking about it and having others bring up points as to why Cody shouldnt be forgiven so easily? Adam made a video with Cody as well...and he was more in the know about this sitation than Trisha could ever be since Adam has been inside this for actual years. I don't blame Adam for having his feelings, he cant help it, but stop airing out the same opinion about another victim and your judgement of the time it took to process.
    Adams been processing this for years at this point and Im sure opening it up again isnt easy but to Trisha...this JUST happened.
    And enough of the people "she hasnt changed" in this situation why is that relevant at all???? Lets say shes an absolute monster. And? Right? At least a loose script or outline if you're a person who tends to be all over the place and go on tangents pretty easily would make a world of difference. She was just a bunch of words that didn't even get to the core of what the title of her video was even about. She just talked alot and side stepped some things by just talking alot. Simply talking alot is kind of alot of nothing. Even saying something about her menstrual cycle...I'm not a prude but t had nothing to do with nothing. As someone who suffers from CPTSD I dont think what Trisha did was give excuses, because its not like she has done anything wrong in this case. I think she is explaining herself as best as she can, that she is very easily triggered as she said, and the internet does not like her very much (to put it mildly.) I totally understand Adam feeling like this is another case of people not listening to him and ignoring his pain but with Trisha I feel like she is avoiding triggers for the same reasons that those images of her naked were sent back and forth to mock her - the internet is ruthless to her. I dont think its fair to go so hard on her seeing as she was just trying to protect her own mental health AND she isn't the one who harmed Adam, Becky, etc. She is a victim too and shes not responsible for anyone else in this, she is talking about it and keeping the conversation open so its not just hidden away but apart from that I dont think its fair to put so much responsibility on her.

    There is a HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN working with children in a teaching/mentoring context or being close to a child that you are related to, and being in private chats with underaged fans and/or interracting with children in a way that makes then uncomfortable.
    For example: I was really close to my older cousins growing up (8-13years older than me) they would babysit or sometimes one of my older female cousins would take me out for lunch or shopping or they would have me over for girls night sleepovers, and I cannot stress enough how fondly I remember those memories, and how appropriate and fun they were.
    Growing up I was also sexualized/fetishized by many of my teachers and peers because i developed early. The difference is that those people made me uncomfortable, they did not have my best interests in mind, I did not consent to the things that were said and done to me by the adults in my life that chose to fetishize a child, I never had a choice. Trustworthy adults will do things to accommodate to do things within a child’s comfort level, and always give them an indefinite out. If I asked one of my cousins to take me home because i wasn’t having fun or didn’t feel well in any way, zero questions asked, and never held it over my head. They understood that I looked up to them and loved them because they were my family so they tailored the activities we did to my tastes, they did not talk about stuff that was inappropriate for my age in my presence. It is about consent from the parents, comfort of the child, and giving the child choices including the choice to leave. Lots of adults have relationships with children that are completely appropriate, lots of children have the phone numbers of adults that make them feel safe and comfortable on their terms. Grooming is sinister, it is calculated.

      I agree, honestly I think Adam was a bit too harsh to Trish in this video but I do 100% understand his frustration about this. But what I don’t think he understands is that Colleen and Trisha have known each other for over ten years and she was someone Trisha considered a friend. So when you’re getting spammed with all these serious allegations about your friend you’re obviously going to ask and trust the word of your friend over a complete stranger on the internet and multiple spams of people hounding you to give a statement and denounce your friend. I’m not trying to justify what Trish has done or minimize Adam’s feelings at all, I just don’t think he’s seeing the situation from her side. Plus she’s the ONLY ONE out of all of Colleen’s friends who have spoken out against her and stood by the victims. That’s just my opinion, I do support the victims 100% I just don’t think it’s as cut and dry as Adam thinks it should be.

Of all the things to come at her for, this really isn't it. She was a victim of this situation and is allowed to take the time she needed to figure it out and process.
      It's so sad to me how people's previous "image" can effect unrelated situations. Like Colleen's squeaky clean image allowed her to get away with this in 2020. And now Trisha's horrendous image is allowing people to continue to judge and drag her in a situation she did nothing wrong in. If it was Onision in 2020 who did this to Adam, everyone would have believed it immediately. If it had been Jenna Marbles who "took too long to process" as a victim in this situation everyone would be understanding.
