  • In this insightful episode of GaonaLive Conversations, we sit down with Anitah Moeng, a courageous woman who shares her lifelong battle with severe headaches and migraines. Anitah opens up about her first serious headache at the tender age of 7 and describes how these debilitating migraines have continued to shape her life.
Anitah delves into the personal impact of her condition, discussing how her illness has affected her relationships with family and loved ones. She provides a poignant account of how her migraines have influenced her relationship with her daughter and how they have both adjusted to living with this chronic condition.
In addition to her personal experiences, Anitah sheds light on her challenging encounters with the medical system. She recounts the discouraging experiences with doctors who often failed to diagnose her condition correctly, sometimes attributing her symptoms to mental illness or dismissing her pain as "all in her head."

This episode is a powerful reminder of the importance of empathy, proper medical support, and the impact chronic illness can have on one's life and relationships.

Thank you for sharing your story Anita. Made me realise my migraines are nothing compared to what you go through. I know that paralyzing pain. I tell people that when you come out of an attack, it feels like you’re emerging from the depths of hell where you were physically fighting for your life. You feel so drained! May God heal you. I pray that you find the root cause and finally find healing.

One of the headaches 😩 whenever it hits me I just need my space,no sounds, no light just my bed and a dark room with no noise until I get better 😢..nd most people don't understand this headache until it hits them

I've been struggling with severe migraines as far back as i can remember, ive been to the Headache clinic in Braamfontein, got a device that i used to put in my mouth, but even that stopped working eventually. When i am going to have a severe migraine attack, my vision normally gets blurry for about 30min, THEN, a migraine. They are so intense that i have to be sedated or take heavy medication to drug me to sleep. I have been to numerous neurologists.I have tried numerous medication, yet i still struggle with them. I dont know what triggers them, they just hit me.A migraine could literally wake me up in the middle of the night, I'll wake up screaming. They are random. I get migraine attacks once every month, or once in two months. And its always on either side of my face. I am so triggered watching this video because for once I feel someone understands my pain. To top it all, I work in the Auditing field, a pressurised environment. I dont know how many times i have been absent from work due to migraine attack, or how many times I've had to leave work. And people think these are just "headaches", they dont understand how severe and intense these are. Some even swear I am demon possessed when i get an attack. My comment is all over the place because i relate so much to this video. Feels like you are describing my reality. I am so triggered, but thank you for sharing, at least now i know I'm not alone.

some doctors are from hell. I once had a Psychologist who told me to stop crying, while he was counting the things i have in my life like family, job and etc., knowing very well my frustration was coming from those things.
