    This was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. There was a couple of times I was laughing, looked up and saw Erik knocked most of the plates to my side and then rushed some shots. There was not much time in between each round. Enough to jam magazines get situated and roll again. I like the idea of going further out with the tree. Have a great and safe New Years everyone.

      Hey Jason, I have a question: why are your scope caps on the left side of your scope? With your experience I'm guessing its not an accident?

    • @ilikepiepls
      @ilikepiepls 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@wilfdarr couple of reasons, main reason on the rear scope cap is if I have it rotated to the right I can hit it with my right hand as I work the bolt. It’s not constant but enough to annoy me. The second reason is purely aesthetics.

    To make the tree work properly you have to tilt it more towards you. The higher the caliber the more you tilt and it will make it so you only move one target at a time most of the time. I designed mine so it is adjustable on the angle. Fun watching you two shoot. Keep the videos coming.

    i greatly enjoyed this so much as a reloader, once rifleman, hunter , designed my own ultra reduced center fire rifle ammunition for special purposes. all inside 42 yards of knowledge and experience. now iam disabled but not helpless. I definitely reload , shoot when iam up to it , hunt and fish when i feel up to it . i can’t shoot like I did 30-40 years ago. also copd I can’t get my breathing setteled down for higher power scopes . cross hair bouncing around every where. but it’s ok 👍. Iam hitting most of the time what I aim at . took a. fine deer maybe a week or two ago. i have known several years the days coming a can’t hunt no more and limited shooting . it’s ok 👍. I’ve been blessed to live a life many men dream of. no complaining its getting older and life . you young men tak care of your self especially your eyes. If you want some other dueling fun, you can find those plastic easter eggs that come apart at dollar stores. Fill them with Tannerite and place them at distances (of course each person has same distance) but one shooter has red eggs, other has green. Have third person place eggs out at distances either from hangers, or on stands(cardboard) and have an unknown distance shooting comp. The eggs will pop without being a big thing, but still visible at any distance. With a field like what you have a competition like this would be pretty fun.

    Gotta mention this. When I was 19, the Range owner's grandson and i would do trick shooting on Friday night's if no one else was around. With sights - we both were almost equal. Handguns - we were equal too. So - the challenge was - [ No Sights!] We knocked the sights off 2 rifles and we shot until we had a winner. That night - we were dead equal on NRA 20 yd targets. The last target - was a paper target at 24 yds - laying flat on the sand. One shot each. Doug hit a 6 ring. Mine cut from the 5 ring - across the X and out to the 7 ring. I got the BS award for a week.
    Thank you! Nice shooting to both of you!

    Why would you shoot from the same platform when recoil = vibration and thus any vibration through the shooting platform could throw off the aim and at 500 yards those millimetres could turn into inches effectively turning into a miss ? so the one that fires first will also shoot more accurately than the one that fires second because of that deviation, the further you shoot the more the deviation is. Separate platforms would have been better.

    The tree needs a little detent or something on either side to "catch" the paddle when it flips. Something where the force of a round will flip it but a bounce back will not. And yeah, I'd love to see this at a longer distance. 500 yards is way too easy for your guys!

    Depending on the THICKNESS of the target plates, (probably a minimum of 3/8” AR500 steel), you can prevent the targets from flopping around by installing the tree post with a significant (approximately 15•) angle. This way, the projectile energy will flip the target plate around to the other side, and it should stay there.

    It’s hard not to root for the guy that served our country in a special forces military unit, but Erik is such a nice guy and good sport that it makes it a lot harder to pick a side. Fortunately that was not too serious, so no pride was really harmed in this video.

    This is a great fun shoot. Enjoyed it on the scale of one to ten___a twelve. The tree was flipping the targets multiple times from single shots. You need to set up a different type of contest, where it is the first to hit his targets, wins.

    This was fun to watch! Erick made all the excuses in the book, and jason won 10 times over. That tree was not made for the 308! Lol
