Thanks for showcasing CFPAO! My mod has shown up in quite a few showcase videos so far already, but this one has been my favorite. Great video! And thank you for mentioning it's still a work in progress! I've seen so many people saying that my animations look bad or janky, and yeah, of course they do lol. OF COURSE, first person would get this big an upgrade immediately after I finish my third person modlist 😭 I guess that playthrough will have to wait! These mods are great!
i recently build my first person setup, i want to add few points from your video: -flinching is already included in precision mod with different mechanics, you can have both though -dmco feels better than tkdodge in first person because its 8-direction vs 4-direction in tkdodge, the ultimate dodge mod i think also have 8-direction, but haven't tried it. scar+mco if you want npc do combos, it won't affect player 1st person combat animation. *edit: i went back to tkdodge re 0.48alpha, dmco is fine but i noticed it doesnt do movement. the animation plays but the movement only follow left stick movement. -if using improved camera SE(which you should) i highly recommend Immersive interaction mod by jayserpa, and use forced 3rd person settings, it will play in 1st person. just untick pet horse option because it causes glitch. *edit: make sure youre using v5 improved camera, i'm at 65 hours stable with this combination -jumping attack is great but in my setup it makes blocking with weapon stuck often and just unplayable if i play melee, i'm sad. -i use zupa for potion animation and animated eating redux for food animation because they works in first person with improved camera. -mod authors are amazing i respect them a lot
Gotta correct something here, be VERY careful if you plan on using IC with Jayserpas II, the mod has a known glitch where upon doing any action with the forced 3rd person setting the pc gets teleported back to whichever cell door they exited last. Afaik theres no fix for this yet

Thanks! The stand-out feature of TES is that it’s first-person and allows you to be much more personal with the world. Third person is great but always has that missing feeling of immersion, glad these mods exist
Agree I only use 3rd person briefly when traveling or in a tavern. But most of the game I want to feel like I am seeing it through my own eyes not watching someone else perform the actions. This is one of the reasons I liked playing Halo rather than a game like Gears of War even though both are fine games.

Loving the work put into these vids and recommendations. These first person mods bring Skyrim back from my days on consoles. Great work and many thanks to you and the modders.
Just tested this overhaul out, and it's really great. Especially with those new weapon animations. Been doing the souls-like 3rd person style for a while so it's nice to have something like this for a more vanilla+ experience.
The Valhalla Combat parrying would pair nicely with the lightsaber mod. Especially if you make all enemies mages with another mod. Then you can be a true Dovahkin Jedi Knight!
Thank you! As someone that plays almost exclusively in first person view, it's good to see videos like this. There's too many videos showing 3d perspective mods.
Thanks for the mod recommendations. I never really like Skyrim combat in first person except for the bow of course. These mods look like an excellent way to make it more enjoyable. Keep up the great work Burns!
I’m an old school TES player who plays almost exclusively in 1st person (only use 3rd person to look at my armor/clothing), so thanks for putting this out!

Awesome, but I don't use Nexus mods directly from Nexus, because I'm not tech savvy enough to follow all the text and folder changes required. However, I do load the mods I like that are available on Steam, where all I have to do is press the download tab, which is how it should be for all mods. I have 30 mods, but there are around 40 more that I would love to add, but unfortunately, not available on Steam yet. Thankfully, I have the "Sofia" mod, which makes my adventuring so much more pleasurable. Lydia and Sofia go everywhere with me! 🤩🥰
Burns, I want to know the NPC overhauls you used for this video. They look great. Not too pretty, but still an improvement over vanilla. Another great video, by the way!
Late reply but I believe the name of the mod for the female NPCs is Blessing of Dibella, the same author has overhauls for children, orcs, and some of the men of white run.
I use this mod too and another must have mod to add to these is Elven Power Attack, in which you no longer perform a power attack by holding the mouse key but rather bind it to a key so you can power attack at will and never by accident while holding your attack button for too long....
I _love_ that these mods take major steps towards Vermintide 2 style melee combat. (V2 is basically the best melee FPS on the market, though I suppose Darktide qualifies too.) The only remaining steps are: A. Create more variety to combat encounters. So have some fights involve larger groups of enemies (where cleaving attacks are important) and others involve fewer enemies, and still others involve armored enemies where you want armor-piercing type attacks. B. Then create light/heavy combos for each weapon type where mixing the combo is often how you get the best results. For example with one very simple weapon type spamming light attacks (Light 1 > Light 2 > Light 3) might be the best AOE cleave option. But for another weapon type the best cleave combo would be Light 1 > Heavy 2 > Heavy 3. (And yeah the implication is that when you switch light/heavy mid-combo you aren't just resetting to the first attack.) C. And also reexamine stagger. So have certain enemy attacks require more stagger to interrupt, and set a stagger value to each attack in each weapon type's combos. Honestly Skyrim's awful vanilla combat (and horribly overpowered progression systems) is why the game lasted so short for me. I mean 106 hours isn't _terrible_ for a game, but I'm sure there are people with like tens of thousands of hours into Skyrim by this point.
Thank you Burns, that's exactly what I was looking for. The third person mods are definitely nice but for me personally Elder Scrolls is just something I have to experience in first person, it's just one of the things that makes this series special compared to most other RPGs.

All those here on skyrim AE 1.6.640 the first camera mod improved camera to see your whole body in first person, is not comparable and is being worked on for the newest version but may be a while...sadly most first person mods for whole body view do not work for skyrim AE 1.6.640. 😣
this must be the 8th time Heavy Burns recommends Valhala Combat... I am still not sure if i want to download it, perhaps 1 more video featuring it will change my mind....
We have a few mods that enhance certain aspects of combat. Some of these are Precision, MCO, and SCAR. But when you want to improve the combat itself the Valhala Combat it's the best mod we have right now. I'm not totally satisfied yet, but someday we will have a mod that improve Skyrim combat in a unique and vanilla-friendly way.
I'm a little surprised nobody seems to have a video or reddit link or something explaining how to install the github file for the Improved Camera mod. I read through posts there in case anyone had a similar question and received any help, but it seems everyone else just knows how, but I get illegitimate file structure that can't be fixed with just setting the top line to data directory in MO2, so can't use that one. Maybe someday I'll have time to look back at some old Gopher videos and might figure out how to repack it into a new compressed file to use. But the others are good and easy to install. Thanks for posting them.
Can anyone tell me how I can install the mod Improved Camera SE correctly? Whenever I try to install through MO2 it warns that the mod is not configured correctly and that's why I can't install it
*I know you guys might not think the same but I love to see my modded waifu character in 3rd person action rather than switching to 1st person view. Although I do use 1st person view only when using bows (for precision and accuracy)*
This looks perfect! Im thinking about getting a new pc so I can play Skyrim modded again after only having the vanilla experience 10 years ago :P I miss the first person immersion and I dont understand people making Skyrim a Dark Souls game. I love Dark Souls, but I come to Skyrim for the Skyrim experience. This still has the feeling of Skyrim, just not as clonky ;)
Another great video. I will definitely explore these as i am building a new install now. I never play in 3rd person at all. It's less immersive. Hell i never use horses due to the forced 3rd person. Never understood that when Oblivion had 1st person horse riding.

Whenever I try to install through MO2 it warns that the mod is not configured correctly and that's why I can't install it
I wonder if it's possible to recreate Chivalry 2-like combat in skyrim
*I know you guys might not think the same but I love to see my modded waifu character in 3rd person action rather than switching to 1st person view. Although I do use 1st person view only when using bows (for precision and accuracy)*
This looks perfect! Im thinking about getting a new pc so I can play Skyrim modded again after only having the vanilla experience 10 years ago :P
I miss the first person immersion and I dont understand people making Skyrim a Dark Souls game. I love Dark Souls, but I come to Skyrim for the Skyrim experience. This still has the feeling of Skyrim, just not as clonky ;)
That's what I was needing for a long time... For years...
First Person Combat Animations Overhaul is still the best.
Its good see animation mods dedicated to first person, im still getting used to how modded 3rd person works, im so used to vanilla 3rd person view
Hi, mind letting me know which ENB are you using?
Another great video. I will definitely explore these as i am building a new install now. I never play in 3rd person at all. It's less immersive. Hell i never use horses due to the forced 3rd person. Never understood that when Oblivion had 1st person horse riding.
I would also recommend parry animation mod. For those perfect blocks is amazing
Have been looking for the slash effects mod for ages so thank you very much. Couldn't find it because it doesn't have blood in the name 🙄
Thank you very much for this. As a first-person purist, I've felt left out quite a bit v.v
