wow, i really liked the footage used with Miraak, it looks almost like a movie where Miraak shows his followers his powers and allows them to be subjected to his awesome will. i think it would be cool to get a reimagining of Miraaks rise to power and to make him a actual force to be reckoned with instead of how it ended at the summit in apocrypha. i actually kind of wrote a fanfiction about this once, that involved Miraak actually leaving Apocrypha and taking over both solsthime and skyrim while the last dragonborn was off fighting in sovengard, i took some liberties in my writers embellishment to another level and basically made it so while the last dragonborn was within Sovengard that time flows faster on nirn, which means the last dragonborn was within Sovengard for much longer than a day as it appeared, but he was there for over a year and while he was gone, Miraak essentially took over solsthime and skyrim and was able to bend the will of each faction within skyrim turning them into his allies or cultists. when the last dragonborn comes back from sovengard, he finds much has changed and that skyrim is being ruled by Miraak and his cultists, because he's basically rebuilding his army, and just like in solsthime the last dragonborn needs to over throw each location where Miraaks influence has taken hold over the population and use the bend will shout to destroy Miraaks hold and control over the people by destroying his influence of the earth stones and the guardian stones, but these locations are very fortified and it's going to be difficult to at first to get to them as your going to have to kill a lot of cultists to just get access to these earth stones and guardian stones as they are behind temples specially designed to protect them with a small army of cultists protecting each location. but i never really finished this fanfiction, because nobody was interested in it, it would be a lot better if it was in the form of a mod imo.
Dareni's work is great and they integrate into the world well with vendors and to different NPCs with SPID which is awesome. You might catch magical or high level enemies casting these unexpectedly which is always fun.
I currently use Abyss, Lunaris and Stellaris on my character. I love these mods and he just came out with a new one a week or so ago called Arcane. Arcane works like the Staff of Magnus in a way, draining Magika until it's gone and then doing damage to health 3x as fast.
So how exactly does Volcano differ from Fire magic? The spells seem identical with simply a retexture. Fireball, Flame Cloak, Wall of Fire, Fire Atronach, and finally Fire Storm. Functionally how do they differ?
Yeah, that tends to be a problem when it comes magic based mods. Honestly, I would like magic to be more complicated and detailed in general. There should always be a use for a spell.
Another excellent video! Can't wait for Pt. 2! I've been keeping an eye on and starting to use Direni's spell mods for a while now. They make it a lot easier to create characters that are each truly unique. I have never played a magicka-only character, but his spell mods are really giving me the urge to do so.
What the hell! I just downloaded all these last night. I wake up and you have a review of them out today! freaky Sunday! Badass vid as always my dude........need part 2!
I mean, this doesn't make it more enjoyable. To make it more enjoyable you'd need to change the mechanics. This is just adding more spells that basically do the same thing.
It would have been nice to know more about how these spells balance with others and how they're distributed. The mods look cool, though. I like the focus on different themes. I'm interested in seeing the other video in a few days.
Burns, take a look at Kittytail's Astral 2, Sound, Constellation, Storm Calling 2 and Depths of the Reach magic mods. Also, look at Ethical Lune's Aetherial Tomes. All of them are hidden gems.
kittytail's magic mods are peak - they might be a bit too much and may be considered not lore friendly - not storm calling mind you but astral, constellation, sound and supernova- the quality of their effects are simply amazing
i love this channel, the editing and everything and the video action and all the qualities of your videos are so good, im suprised that you dont have over 1 million subscribers yet, you will get there eventually though
God damn it I dont want to return to modding Skyrim just yet, last time ai had over 100 mods and probably I will have more now and I dont really have the time anymore.
My biggest issue with some of these spell packs is that they are in the restoration category. It's a problem because the Necrom pack is pretty much useless. Almost everything is immune to them except animals and some people.
I can't remember which magic mod it was, but it has a spell called Ocato's Recital, where you have a series of spells of your choosing (up to 3) equipped automatically when you enter combat. It would be amazing to have that Necrom eldritch buff automatically apply to a warlock build character for the weapon and magic buff.
I wonder if magic can be overhauled by functioning more like weapon swings, with swing animations and arcs of magic for close-quarter combat... And combos? With all the crazy 3rd person combat animations that exist, it would be so sick
Nice video as always! For your next video, could you showcase mods for "Support Mage" playthrough? Mods that adds magic or staves that enhance your followers' attack or defense. Cheers!
Not only is Mysticism way better than Odin, Darenii also made their spells to mirror Mysticism. If I wanted enai spells I would get apocalypse and triumvirate.
Yea, PC is much better for mods. But I often wish I could afford an Xbox and a PS too. You can play a lot of really great games I can't play. Luckily there are more mods for consoles these days, and there will be even more in the near future. I always felt pretty bad for console players before they had any mods. Solidarity fellow Gamers!😊
I'm all for promoting good mods, but as someone who's been using mods like triumvirate and apocalypse for some time, I feel like I must be missing something here. Most of these spells just look like vanilla spells with their colours changed and maybe one unique effect. Can someone explain why one would pick these over other spell packs on the Nexus? These seem so unimaginative.
Yeah, I guess they have a good integration with the "vanilla +"experience with most of the Somonrim mods, but I have to agree most of them seem pretty boring.
Because its not meant for your modlist? Its meant for a vanilla+ modlist that use mods like Mysticism and Adamant. You get incredibly balanced yet depth gameplay with simonrim setups and adding mods like apocalypse and triumvirate breaks/ruins that balance so vanilla+ users need mods like this. If your using apocalypse and triumvirate then these mods are not for you since they are balanced for a different kind of skyrim modlist.
@@zeadly7991 I get that, and I can see how easy it would be to use a broken combo with triumvirate or such (though personally I don't). I suppose the vibe I'm getting from these mods, and looking at their mod pages, is that they're not so much vanilla plus as they are just...reskinned vanilla. And each pack adds so many spells, it just feels like bloat. Not me having a go by the way. These mods are clearly popular and I'm just trying to make sure I'm not missing something, because it's not making much sense to me.
@@aidanfurst8512 Im sorry but your flat our wrong. there is spell variety like having touch spells from mysticism, body spells which are exclusive to dareniis spell mods and other exclusive spells like the black book spells in necrom. Also they arent even identical in effects as much as fire/frost/shock are, for example desecration spells dont reduce magicka or stamina and has its own effect to ressurrect the dead when you kill an enemy with dareniis perk mod.
So the only unique one is Desecration? Nice visuals, they’re exactly the same as vanilla or other mods’ spells in function. Vulcano is just fire spells, Lunaris is just sun spells and Necrom is just poison spells that you can find in any spell pack.
This is good since its meant to mirror Mysticism's spells. Its good for balancing reasons since the mods are supposed to be user in tandem with simonmagus mods like Adamant.
They're a bit more complicated than that. Lunaris, Necrom, and Vulcano are the equivalent Frost Slow effect for Sun, Poison, and Fire spell perks (with Vulcano also having a paralysis type effect). And Desecration has a unique enemy debuff (although its main benefit comes from the authors perk mod, which let's it summon a minion from enemies the spells kill) But yeah, HB is lying through his teeth when he labeled this vid a Magic 'Overhaul' one.
"Over 100 new spells!" 🚩🚩🚩 So all flash and little substance. The problems worh skyrim's spells are systemic. If your mods aren't boring number changes then theyre not really going to fix the problem.
This isnt a bad thing at all. Its meant to be used with mysticism which means that users of these mods are vanilla+ users. Not every spell pack author is gonna balance their mods the same way as others like enaisiation, especially since more and more people are moving to vanilla+ modlists. If your looking for something more flashy look at kittytail's mods.
So ALL these spells are functionally clones of vanilla spells, and NONE of them bring something new to the game... Is absurd the huge amount of fluff words you use to describe when i gave a description that objectively fits them all all. Usually your videos bring good content but it looks as if this time you're being payed to promote this half baked crap
You wouldn't need such an insane amount of buzz words describing Apocalypse or arcanum as just describing them as objectively as possible makes them look good, just for comparison there's no way to describe the ones in this video OBJECTIVELY other than "here's a bunch of cloned spells from vanilla"

Darenii’s magic mods are amazing!! and as always... Heavy Burns’ videos are always top notch!
Hey, your videos are great as well, Cp. PANDA!
@@W0KeIzEvil I appreciate it! :)
How do you download these mods ? I tried searching necrom mod on Skyrim and the mod doesn’t show , I’m a lil frustrated
Feels weird to be this early on a Heavy Burns video. I usually see these a week after they’re released
I'm really a fan of the most recent videos where it's showcasing a group of mods from a specific author other than a random assortment. Great work!
7:33 When you said Eldritch weave I instantly thought of hermaus morra with waves
Don't forget kittytail!!
So how exactly does Volcano differ from Fire magic? The spells seem identical with simply a retexture. Fireball, Flame Cloak, Wall of Fire, Fire Atronach, and finally Fire Storm. Functionally how do they differ?
Was wondering the same here. Most of these are just.... Particle effect and Damage. Barely a difference.
Hardly 100x better magic.
Yeah, that tends to be a problem when it comes magic based mods. Honestly, I would like magic to be more complicated and detailed in general. There should always be a use for a spell.
Heavy Burns when Light Freeze walks into the room

Kittytail and Darenii are magical prodigies.

I think the next video will be about Kittykat's magic mods.
I fall in love with Astral Strike and it's stagger effect at a distance.
The author's username is Kittytail.
Loved it! I'm the kind of player who uses magic as much as the rest use stealth archery.
Also, never been this early, so yay!
Very relatable.😊 I'm even a bit weirder because I play archers, mages, and warriors.
I didn’t think I’d be as into this as I was. Some of it fits my current build greatly. Fantastic vid.
The video production skills on these are always awesome love seeing the background npc always doing random stuff when things are going on.
"Tentacles will grow out of their body and eventually destroy them"
You had me at tentacles...
Absolutely love Darenii and their spells, great job on reviewing this splendid job 😁
Mom wake up heavy burns uploaded
Most of these are just recolors of vanilla. Green fire atronach, oooh
I want to play as the ESO Arcanist but in Skyrim.
And then I want the same thing in Elder Scrolls 6.
I use Necrom and the one that adds conjurable light weapons (Restoration variants of bound weapons) I think it’s called Inquisitor
I mean, this doesn't make it more enjoyable. To make it more enjoyable you'd need to change the mechanics. This is just adding more spells that basically do the same thing.

Darenii and Kittytail is currently highlight magic mod authors, i think they both shared pretty similar vision and super talented
From this video, it seems these are just vanllia or apocalypse spells with a reskin
Apocalypse spell pack is so much better...
