I absolutely adore your personality! Thank you so much for taking the time to make such an informational and easy to follow along video. Hope you have a wonderful new year💞
I picked up the TKB polyamide because of you -- I'm can't wait to start formulating with it! I had been searching for oil thickeners for a while but couldn't find exactly what I wanted. Because of this, I never offered (in my store) the oil blends I want. So excited to learn about this. Many many thanks to you 🙂
I hope you enjoy it! Depending on the oils you enjoy formulating with you might want to look at the one sold by Making Cosmetics as well-I have details on how it is different in the Humblebee & Me DIY Encyclopedia (www.humblebeeandme.com/diy-encyclopedia/) entry for PA-3 ❤️ Happy making!
Aside from your being soooo smart and pretty, you are also so doggone funny! Thanks for all you do for us formulator-followers. I am going to try making a gel-oil reminiscent of a Bath and Body aromatherapy product. The velvety slip of it was just...addictive. Not to mention the fragrance
In your blog post on the formula, you mention if you use less shimmer to increase the amount of apricot kernel oil. I find though, with doing this, the mica then sinks to the bottom instead of staying in suspension, like the original recipe. If I cut the shimmer amount in the recipe in half and want to increase the fragrance, would I also increase the c12-alkyl Benzoate and the polyamide 3? Thank you so much in advance. Your formulas are beyond amazing! ❤❤
! Love your videos even without getting to the end! But I’ve made my body oils with mica and have not used those chemicals, no mica never came off on my clothes. 🌹
I’m a newbie just want to make some oil shimmers for the summer for myself but I may do some samples for friends and family, your very informative thanks for sharing 🙃
A million thank yous for posting this! I was looking for an effective way to suspend mica in my shimmer/body oils and I was considering one of the tweens, but that didn't make sense, so then I saw info about e-wax in some degree to thicken, but this by far is the best approach. Thanks again!
Thank you for this update. I’ve got so used to using silica microspheres though. What am going to do now hehe!? Would the polyamide be considered natural at all? (I think I already know the answer 😣)
I tried to make this using polyamide-3 from TKB and as the heated phase begins to cool down, small micro beads of wax begin to reform and a thick gooey layer appears on the bottom-I have pictures! I adjusted the amount of polyamide-3 to about 7.5%, given the notes you wrote in the partner blog post and tried this 2 times and both times had this result. I had not put the mica in, only the c12-15, polyamide-3, and the oil.
So we don’t need the c12-c15 for the latest formulation. I just waited for my poly three to ship to me and now I’m uncertain if I need the benzo c12-c15 in the recipe? As I’m just following the instructions on the blog.
I made it with just the poly 3, MCT, I added Cetyl alcohol, and arrowroot powder, fragrance and it came out great. I have the c12-c15 being delivered today. I thought good to have on hand going to try in next couple of days.
Hey! You'll find the answer to your question in the "Substitutions" section of the free partner blog post. It's linked in the description box below the video :) If you're not sure what that means, read this: www.humblebeeandme.com/faqs/whats-the-description-box-on-youtube/. Happy making!
No-those two ingredients are SUPER different from one another. Polyamide-3 has more in common with something like beeswax than with cyclopentasiloxane (though don't use beeswax either). Have you read the blog post? :)
Curious Chemistry question for anyone willing to answer. Can you mix Glycerin with Polyamide 3? If so, what consistency will form? I'd like to make this solid form,I have a certain texture I'm going for and would like to know please?!
Hi! No, it won't work. Have you looked up PA-3 in the Humblebee & Me DIY Encyclopedia (www.humblebeeandme.com/diy-encyclopedia/) yet? There's lots of great info in there ❤️
Please look up polyamide 2 in the Humblebee & Me Encyclopedia at www.humblebeeandme.com/diy-encyclopedia/ to learn more :) There's quite a lot to know; happy making!
how do you formulate it for dark skin ( lupita's skintone)? Also what are you thought on adding urea powder to a pre formulated cream with abit of liquid thermal plus?
For the first question, I would use a darker colored mica powder that complements your skin’s undertone. Lupita has warm undertones, so a dark warm bronze would look nice. I’m not sure about the second question.
Hi Marie, Olivia from Barbados here. I purchased the polyamide-3 from tkb trading, i followed the steps carefully (substituting c12-15 alkyl benzoate for isopropyl myristate) and while in the cool down phase, I've kept stirring and stirring continuously, yet the polyamide-3 keeps clumping and turning gritty. I have tried 6 times with the same result. 😢Please help.
I have been trying to make body shimmer oils and it clumps once it cools down. I was using coconut oil and found out it was the main reason my oils started to crystalize later. So I took the coconut oil out and used cetyl alcohol and it clumps less but still clumps. If I want my bottle to be fairly see through what else can I use to keep the mica from settling?
Nope. I would have used one if one was needed :) there is more information about why one is not needed in a partner blog post-yet another reason to give it a read. Happy making!
I'd love to check your website and blog post, but your host or server for the host does not load with malware blockers, so maybe it's best that I don't. I'll settle for all the wonderful things I can learn from your channel instead.
That's really weird; I run daily malware scans on my website and it's always clean. I also haven't heard this from anyone else, and I figure I would've heard that at least once from 160k subscribers. I promise my website isn't infected with anything.
Just want to say it's really nice seeing you grow as a formulator and your viewers learning all these new ingredients. 😊
Thank you so much! ❤️
Omg didn’t watch yet but I clicked the description to see the ingredients and ahh I love polyamide 3 so happy to see you use it!
It's so good! The more I research it and use it the more excited about it I get 😄
What else is it used in? ☺️
@@ramonarwatson I used it in my lip gloss base!

I made that one. Now can’t wait to make this one.

Same
this is also my experience. were you ever able to rectify that?
Hello sis, can we add other active ingredients?
Can I use meadow foam sea oil and Grapeseed oil instead?
I love this! can't wait to try! love your channel!
Thank you so much! ❤️
Can i use isododecane and polyamide-3 together?
So excited to try this update!
Hope you enjoy it!
I'm making Shimmer mists and I want to improve my formula. Can you do a tutorial on this? I'm using perfumers alcohol SDA 40B and coconut oil for now.
I'll keep it in mind-thanks for the suggestion!
What glass beakers do you recommend?
Hi
I made this the other night and I still had some separation. Could it possibly be because I used foamsea oil ?
This looks so lovely. I'm going to try it. Thanks for sharing.

for how long it will last ? is there an expiry date ??
IT looks amazing;is it possible to use oils and cetyl alcohol to thicken the product only as we dont have the ingredients in my countrY
Please read the blog post + look at the 2017 version :) Happy making!
Can i use polyamide 8 instead of polyamide 3 ?
I need to make this.
❤️
Hi can I use a different oil?

Hello , can I add oil wax lc to help stabilize the mica a little more?
I would simply use more polyamide-3; I suspect the olivewax will settle out over time.
So exciting. Yay
Thank you so much!
Do you have a link for that scale?
Look up "precision scale" in the Humblebee & Me DIY Encyclopedia (www.humblebeeandme.com/diy-encyclopedia/) :) Happy making!

Hello, I am trying to make my summer glow but has many gritty particles? What could be the problem
I’m having the same issue!
It sounds like you may be overheating the mica; try adding it once the oil base has cooled.
Is it for oily skin?
It won't "treat" or "counter" oily skin, but it can definitely be used on oily skin.

how do I make this more liquidly???
Is the polyamide A natural product ??and I usually just add a little raw butter to my oils to thicken it .. Does it mix well with raw butters

Can u go in the sun with the body oil?
I'm thinking not.
You won't catch on fire or get a third degree burn if you do, but sunscreen is always a good idea, body oil or not.

Polyamide 3 works best with medium to high polarity oils ie natural oils
Can you something like this but for face???🥺
Like this one, from 2020? www.humblebeeandme.com/passionfruit-facial-glow-oil/ :)
@@HumblebeeAndMe oh wow 😍😍😍 thanks 🥺
So I noticed when mines cooling, it leaves a wax film at the bottom. Am I not getting the mixture hot enough or for long enough?
It sounds like you may need to stir more often as it cools :)

You can see what I've done in this video/formulation, I would recommend that :)
Would this consistancy work as a roll on? (I'm trying to dupe a product I love that was discontinued.)
I think that would really depend on the particular bottle-I suspect it would be too thick, but perhaps?
So 👌
😄
No need of preservative??
Nope. I would have used one if one was needed :) there is more information about why one is not needed in a partner blog post-yet another reason to give it a read. Happy making!
